You guys should drop Presonus. Their stuff is junk and made in China. Presonus offers no support for their hardware once the warranty expires and will never even share service manuals for their hardware should they require service.
HD 8 is 🔥
PreSonus owes a bit of a debt to Audient here, I'd say, but still, these seem like probably the best interfaces they've ever released, and it's cool to see Studio One people getting some handy product integration. And 75dB of gain!? flat within .2dB from 20-20!? for $230!? Impressive. Can't wait to hear Julian Krause's thoughts! 😄
Julian's reviews seemed to have slowed a bit. Would certainly like to see him review the two HD models but he'll probably do the lower end models.
I recently tried a audient id24 and my bass sounded way worse than it does on my old studio 6/8 by presonus. I was really impressed with the presonus.
PRESONUS IS AND ALWAYS BE HD I HAVE A STUDIO 68 ASWELL AND A ID 14 MK2 AND THE PRESONUS STILL ROCKS ONLYTHING AUDIENT SOUNDS BIGGER@@tinychamberz
the presonus quantum 8 unit is a total rip of Apogee's old design for the ensemble

Mitch is the best demo dude in the business!
Nice with the Studio One DAW integration.
💙 Wonderful overview of the new Quantum audio interfaces. Thank you!
with the autogain does this adjust throughout performances or is it a static level?
The rack mount one looks cool and I like the S1 integration.
Im late to the interface party. So this is a bit of education for me. Thanks👍
Es4 two headphones puts 👍👍 I’m getting one plus the easy gain stage
Hi, Mitch. I hope you are good. Thanks as usual for your informative and up to date products releases.
Ok, this is what I don't like about Presonus marketing. Everyone saying connection is Type C. Type C is the form factor of the connectors not the speed. The old Quantum where Thunderbolts which is also Type C. The 1824C are also Type C. Both of them have different speed 1 was USB 2 speed, the other one thunderbolt. Presonus won't said in the description which speed we are getting when buying this new one. Same as what they did with 1824C release. That is misleading because someone can buy one of this new devices thinking is thunderbolt or USB3.2.
PreSonus quietly released this interfaces wow
I'm looking for a new interface with 24 tracks of input via optical (ADAT) in / out. Please help. I'd get this but unfortunately for me, this has up to 16 adat / optical in/out. I'm trying to replace my 10+ year old workflow.
Mitch is great. Are there an videos out there on how to automate guitar pedal patch changes using studio one? Thanks
those are beautiful interfaces.
Congrats to presonus, great interfaces. Their features look a lot like the Audient Evo 16.
Love those lights 😮
U know it’s serious when Mitch does demos
I’ll keep my eye out for a Quantum 4848 update. That’s when I’ll get excited.
But when we use things like the 4848 we are often using outboard gear like plugins. That means we want super low latency. Can you do this with usb to the same degree? Maybe offer the 4848’s with a TB option?
Does it really use quantum computing ?... phenomenal
I wish they implemented AVB I/O, atleast for the HD series 😩
Are the guitar and the combo inputs of the HD2 independent? I want something to run stereo guitars and at least a microphone at the same time for my class. I was thinking on getting the EVO 16 but the HD2 really caught my attention, which one do u recommend? (Having in mind I need at least 3 independent inputs) Thanks beforehand :)
Good question, frankifran5335! Unfortunately, using one of the inputs on the front will defeat the input on the back. If you do not need the ADAT expansion though, you could look at the Quantum ES4. This has the two inputs on the front and 4 mic pres on the back. So you would be able to run 2 mics and 2 guitars at once! Same preamps as the HD2 and same guitar inputs as the HD2, so no loss in quality, just less I/O overall.
Let me know if you have further questions!

How Do these mic pres on the HD series compare to Focusrite Clarrett+ pres?
Boo for the mini MIDI jacks.
Concerning the pres...is the 48 phantom controllable individually for each pre? (Didn't understand you're "discrete" comment.)
Edit: I think I did see each channel's phanthom can be set in software.
Also, are any of the HD pres bypassable, as with the MOTU 828 where compressors can be inserted on the first two channels, bypassing the converters? Thanks.
Individual phantom power control per input.
@@likethehotels
Many thanks!
@@rjb7569did you find out if the pre’s are bypassable?
Quantum in the past has indicated low latency because of Thunderbolt. What are the roundtrip latency numbers for these USB 2.0 interfaces?
~3 ms at 192 kHz with a 64-sample buffer. The Quantum 2626, for comparison, has an RTL of
@@gitphodamn.. feels like a downgrade in terms of RTL 🤔
We are going to wait to see other reviews. The original quantum did not have monitoring dsp though. The HDs seems to have. Hope to see ~5ms at 48Khz, 64 samples.
@@777agnbeats PreSonus says 48 kHz with a 32-sample buffer will provide ~4 ms RTL. 64 samples would be >5 ms for sure.

Any chance directing us to the more involved tech specs? I can't find anything yet.
Hmmm, I wonder how the ES 2 and 4, even the HD 2 would work as a standalone audio interface with the MPC Key37 Standalone. The ES Series seems to be class compliant (w/out the use of an external power supply), however the HD 2 does look like it as well but with the need for a power supply.
Can the preamps be bypassed, to connect external pre's?
Yes, you plug into the line level input (1/4-inch) of the combo jack. It bypasses the pre, but also provides a little digital trim (+ or - 12 dB)
Who's writing and maintaining the drivers? Is the audio control going to break as soon as mac updates the OS? I'm not going down that road again with presonus
That's a great question. And the answer is that the new custom driver was designed in conjunction with Apple using the Driver Kit extension, not a kernel hack. So it's going to be supported going forward by Apple.
Loooove me some Presonus!
I am interested in how this 32 bit floating point and how or if it matter with connecting an ADAT device that is at 24 bit. I would think that you could only use 32 bit floating point with just the 8 channels it comes with. Could someone explain?
Of course it will be so. Once the signal hits the converter what's done is done.
Hi 😊 Can someone compare the new Presonus interfaces/preamps ES and HD series with Audient ID and UAD Apollo series? Thanks 🙏 @AudientWorld @UAudio @PreSonus
Are these interfaces class compliant? Meaning, it is not necessary to install a proprietary PC driver.
Hello, johnlackner1193! Yes, they are class compliant and will plug and play. If you want a deeper level of control though I do recommend installing the Presonus Universal Control app.
Give us a shout and we can discuss in more depth! Thanks for the interest!

Me hubiera gustado una entrada insert en la línea HD 😅
Let me know when the quantum4848 comes back
As a Presonus user, would've been even better if they used or kept their revelator software approach with dsp (just a preference) using FatChannel but with support of the rest of their emulations or firmware updates...

Where is DSP again? Fender are you kidding?
Cool stuff, but Quantum used to mean Thunderbolt. Now it's USB2 via USB-C? That's a bummer. Is no one trying to compete with UA interfaces anymore?
PreSonus still makes the Thunderbolt Quantum 2626 which is the fastest latency thunderbolt interface at $699 pricepoint. The new ones are ultra low latency USB. Still not as fast as TB, but way faster than most competitive USB interfaces.
There’s a number companies competing and making better products than UA in the same price range, they just don’t have well known names behind them. UA’s interface line has been stagnant for years and many better options exist at this time.
RME has proved that Thunderbolt isn't necessary for low latency audio. I just sold my UA X8P and bought RME's Fireface UFX iii and amazing is an understatement
@@bulletheadbeatz2296this is true. Unfortunately, though, these new Quantum interfaces have a round-trip latency of ~3 ms at 192 kHz with a 64-sample buffer-settings at which the Quantum 2626 had an RTL of
@@TheRickdoggie Quantum 2626 is gone form their website under the Interface pulldown
I hope that they hold up over time. Usually, when their products break, they give you a terrible time and blame you for everything possible before reluctantly offering to repair the unit at your own expense. Presonus makes some cool and good sounding gear, but their customer suppport is terrible. If they really believed in the quality of their products their warrantees would cover replacing their units when a customer has a problem without giving them a hard time.
I owned a PreSonus Firestudio, it went bad and I sent it in for repair. It went bad again and I opened it up and fixed it myself. It went bad again, so I bought their USB version. It lasted a while but it too went bad. I bought the newer USB-C version. I bought an extended warranty this time. A channel went bad so I sent it in for repair but they couldn’t fix it and paid me out for the value of the unit. I’m a Focusrite guy now for the time being.
Weird. I’ve owned 4 different interfaces from them and only had one issue which was fixed. Currently running a Quantum 2626 with added ADAT and zero issues.
Edit- I don’t see any reason for me to get this. It seems like a side-grade rather than an upgrade
@@vegadeth I liked the products but they all had reliability issues, and they were always rack mounted and kept in pristine condition, they never faced any abuse.
I’ll never buy another Presonus, they discontinued the Quantum 4848 and will not function with the latest IOS. It was near impossible to communicate with customer service, when I finally was able to speak with a rep it was “sorry to hear that”
Terrible customer support, I now have a useless piece of gear that cost well over $1000. By way of comparison my Focusrite Clarett 8prex , which is discontinued, works just fine with my Mac Studio.
Wya Julian.
I HATE HATE HATE usbC as power supply. So fragile and small, and feels like it is not making full contact. At least the other two have another type of power supply.
I agree. Unplugs so easily.
Wait so the interfaces don’t come with studio one artist anymore???
GD Fender already ruining a great company.
The build quality of their interfaces is rooling down. It's all plastic.
That's the thing that's bothering me with these new series.
These are all metal in their case/chassis construction and significantly heavier than I was expecting them to be. I was very impressed with the build quality.
@@DaveMcCall Es 2, and Es 4 really doesn't look like it's made out of metal, while Hd does...
Both ES and HD are all metal chassis. No plastic.
@@TheRickdoggie Nope bro, pretty sure this is plastic.
The knobs and buttons LQQK PLASTICKY and on another video the bloggers touch of the knob i noticed it moved off center like it’s CHEAP not sturdy just saying
Ehhhh...Are presonus just buying Audient stuff and re-badging it? That's what this looks like...
The Audient Evo16 has 58dB of gain on the preamp. The Quantum's are all 75dB. Plus the HD Series have reamp outputs. Nope, these are definitely not rebadged Audients.
@@TheRickdoggie Cosmetically and functionally they are very similar. The extra mic gain is useful only if it's usable...I may be wrong, but I am unaware of any smd opamp designs (and this is definitely smd at this price point) that offer 75dB of 'useable' gain. I guess we'll see how that pans out. Maybe they have something proprietary inside?
Presonus round trip latency is insanely low. AFAIK It's sub millisecond. That's a big deal for some buyers, so between the older Quantum units and these new ones, there's something for everyone.
Just watching PLAP review on these...should be interesting!
@@stephenfleming8030 Not on these they are USB 2 not thunderbolt. So at 128 buffer at 48K in Logic the HD8 will be 10.8 milliseconds while the Quantum 2626 Thunderbolt Interface is 5.6 milliseconds at 128 buffer so its twice higher latency on these new interfaces compared to the older version. Why Presonus called these Quantum is weird.
@@joesalyers Oh, I thought the thunderbolt versions were way faster than that? I must be confusing them with something else?
@@stephenfleming8030 If you set the Thunderbolt quantum version to 192K you can get below 1 milisecond with a 64 buffer but that isn't realistic to use. But at 128 buffer at 96K the roundtrip latency will be about 2-2.3 milliseconds and you can mix a full 100 track song and overdubs late n the mixing stage with no problems. Whatever a USB interface's latency is say 5 milliseconds, using the same buffer and sampling rate a thunderbolt interface will cut it in half with the same settings. So from 5 milliseconds on USB to 2.5 on Thunderbolt. It has to do with the way USB delivers audio packets compared to Thunderbolt which is PCI over a copper cable. So I think Presonus should not have used the Quantum branding its a little misleading. Cheers!
If the quantum has 8 mic inputs, then is not a professional device, we cannot use a nice outboard mic preamp because the input will has to go through the mic preamp of the presonus, sounding then like...
The 1/4-inch input of the combo jack bypasses the mic pre. There is also + or - 12 dB of digital trim when you bypass the pre with a line level device.
Quantum is now downgraded to StudioLive. No thunderbolt....no thanks
Round trip latency? 64 sample buffer 48KHz
Not 1.8ms like the Thunderbolt Quantum stuff.
Kind of misleading to put Quantum on USB products when it’s only been used for Thunderbolt interfaces in the past.
DAW reports about 4 ms at 32 sample / 48 kHz and about 3 ms 32 sample / 96 kHz. Need to check 64 samples and hopefully others will post their own measurements soon.
