Brilliant upload thank you 👌🏽 3 things - 1) One of the best ODI series ever played. We got hammered in the first 2, came back in the next 2 and took the 3rd at Eden Park (for memory) to the wire but unfortunately lost. 2) That six from big Merv ended up in the foodtown carpark over the road! We all went looking for the ball! 3) RIP Crowe, Jones and Warne 😔
Glad you liked it. Love hearing stories like that - everyone looking for the ball in Foodtown LOL! Brilliant memories. But yep Awesome game and series. I have game 5 somewhere, I will dig it out and upload it soon. Larsen and Pringle nearly got it done at the end.
I was at this game and afterwards drove up to Auckland in the Mk 4 Cortina to see Paul McCartney in concert. Paul congratulated us on winning the game.
Classy knock from Mark Waugh... Then only batsman that could compete with him for style was the late, great Martin Crowe... Great game! Jeff Wilson decided to concentrate on playing rugby for the All Blacks after this series then after 60 tests for the AB's he retired from rugby at 28 to pursue his cricket career where he played against Australia again in cricket in a T20I and a ODI against Australia in 2005... Talented sportsman!
@@keithlexman7846 I don't. But the NZ team was so awful in those particular years. Losing at home to Zimbabwe - though a very good Zimbabwe side, is still too depressing to speak of lol.
I was at this match as a 10 year old I remember leaning over the fence to get Tim Mays autograph and the whole fence going over and spilling onto the ground
This just shows how great Hogan was. Putting the likes of Tim May, Big Merv and Paul Reiffel (who was a very, very good bowler) to the sword and all on one leg.
This was the era of bits and pieces after the awesome 80's sides, but you cant take it away from them as a unit, the only World class player was Hogan Crowe, but everyone else contributed and some played above and beyond, Andrew Jones was written off by the Aussies, notably Bill Lawry he continuously bagged his batting, until one day in Perth and Jones had a massive 100, shut those clown commentators clean up.
Yep after the 80s NZ depth was non existant. Bits and peices sums it up nicely. NZs medium pacers expertly used off cutters like Watson and Harris wicket to wicket on slow nz pitches. Jeff Wilson would emerge fleatingly as a promising all rounder bit rugby took him. As rugby took Kieren Read a promisimg fast bowler once mentored by Glenn McGrath
@@JimChapnz only had Crowe as world class. The rest were the best of domestic. John Wright was there but he was alnost retired and 12thman for most of the WC
Wish Wilson would went back to cricket lot earlier then he did given more time we would seen the best of him he could have even played test cricket he was good enough
A great era of cricket ... loved the Waugh bros and Dean Jones was my fav but watching Crowe in the 92 World Cup is what got me into cricket as a kid. Great days at the basin reserve then ... even though NZ was a bit rubbish during these times. I do think NZ is about to enter another era of being rather crap after being so good for the last few years ...
New Zealand in 1993/94 season had full gray kit with the Lightning bolts New Zealand should have won World Cup 2015 & 2023 South Africa it really schucks that Aiustralia won 2015 & 2023 World Cups I really hope 2027 2031 2035 & 2039 they will not win it T20 World Cups & Champions Trophy .

That is just so incredible. He hardly gets the credit he deserves for that feat.
remember listening to the commentary of this match on radio as a 11 year old cricket crazy ..Jeff Wilson played a blinder.. Nostalgia
Exactly the same as my memory. Travelling home from a junior rep cricket match in Taranaki, NZ with a minivan full of 11 year olds!
absolute gold mate. Thanks so much for posting this classic. Such good quality too!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the blast from the past. It was an classic match!
Crazy bad run out of Crowe. His knee what shot to pieces in this series. But he didnt help himself by running too wide.
Yeah it would have been a lot closer had he run straight.
Another Brilliant Upload Keep It Up
Great upload..Do you have the highlights of the Sirlankan and the Zim Odi series which they won in Newzeland..
I don't sorry.
Do u refer to the ODI world cup game between Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe, in 1992 in New Plymouth, NZ?
@James Chapman Srilanka toured NZ in 1995 for a odi series..Do you have that???..Also zim beat Nz and won their first odi series in Newzeland..

Can you please upload 2 and 3 ODI of this series.?
I don't have the 2nd game. I have highlights of 3 and 5 somewhere. Will post them when I get a chance.
@@pixeltees Please post them..... Thank you in advance ☺

Yeah I used to love getting overseas player's autographs on my bat. Such a great childhood memory.
This just shows how great Hogan was. Putting the likes of Tim May, Big Merv and Paul Reiffel (who was a very, very good bowler) to the sword and all on one leg.
He wasn't bad against Shane Warne as well during this tour.
Yes Reiffel was an unsung performer for the Aussies.
What a game!

I loved Andrew Jones! Unorthodox but gritty and effective. A great first drop and under appreciated.
That world cup performance in 1992 from NZ, turned world cricket on it's head for a month or so there.

RIchie Beanaud.
Never died.
Sir please full odi series upload thanks
Classic John Morrison, calling every 3rd or 4th wicket a "tragedy for New Zealand."
I used to love listening to "Mystery" Morrison.
Wish Wilson would went back to cricket lot earlier then he did given more time we would seen the best of him he could have even played test cricket he was good enough
it's a fun what it to think about.
Love these memories of a much more simple time the one thing I find funny is the run rate 30 runs off 10 overs is very slow by today’s standards
Definitely haha, people would be panicking now at 3 runs per over these days.
Any chance if you can upload highlights of Pakistan Vs New Zealand Dunedin test 1985

Same here, that early 90s era got me hooked on cricket. NZ were competitive enough to win games and the atmosphere of those big crowds was incredible!
@@pixeltees deffo mate, keep up the awesome work .. and thanks for posting these vids 🤘

Jeff WIlson. Could have been one of the better Young Guns.
Agreed, what could have been. Great rugby player though, can't complain too much haha.
@2:49 highest score ever made in any sort of cricket for a split second though.
Remember when 235 was a good score....
Can still be a good score if the pitch is even. Look at the CWC 2019 final... 241 was a competitive score and an amazing game of cricket.
@@pixeltees The difference is 'can' vs 'was' ;)
Even 200 was a good score in Aus as well as NZ back in the 80s.
