The six off Marshall was the shot of 1992 & one of the best ever hits by a left hander. The charge down the track, the audacious pickup & the aggressive hit.Stunned Malcolm Marshall , Warren Lees & well, everyone watching Live & on TV. Brilliant from Greatbatch. Who knew in the next 30 years, hitting a six with a monster thick willow & T20 madness would hardly shock anyone. 93 sixes overall in the 1992 World Cup to 400 + in 2023 WC!!

Mark greatbatch has shown the world how to play in the powerplay ( When field restrictions are on ) He was architect of modern day cricket to the least
Remember back in the day some of the crowd yelling “run 3 Dipak” whenever he came out to bat (whether test, one day or FC) after running himself out for 99 attempting a 3rd run for his first test century - he always looked upset at that sledge…

Ambrose was beside himself with rage, and both of him advanced down the length of the pitch to warn Greatbatch of the folly of messing with 'Big Ambi' from any closer than 22 yards."

As a kiwi, i hate to admit it but the quality of umpiring back in the 80's and 90's was mediocre at best and down right blatant cheating in some instances. This match was one example of umpiring playing a major factor in the result. The whole tournament was full of dodgy decisions that favored NZ.

Malcolm Marshall was way past his prime in 1992, But still was considered a dangerous bowler back then and even credit to Greatbatch for playing such impressive shots against the likes of Marshall.
That NZ side had the weakest bowling attack out of any side back then. Danny Morrison was the only bowler that was quality. NZ had low and slow pitches which suited the medium pacers of watson , harris , larson and Latham and Patels offies. Otyher sides couldnt deal with the lack of pace and bounce.
Martin Crowe was the player of the tournament for his batting and his captaincy...

We didn't know it at the time, but this was Malcolm Marshall's last ever game for the West Indies. May he RIP.

In my opinion NZ was the true deserving champions of 92 n 2019 World Cups
we came so close, yet still so far away!
I still count newzeland as 2019 world cup winner.
2019, I agree. But 92 was fair n square Pakistan's.
I hope you're not now going to argue that 23 was India's.
Quality of picture quality of all NZ matches is superior to other matches? Looks like HD!!!

Poor old Dipak, it was the closest he ever came in tests to 100. Which surprised me because he had a decent first class career.

Malcolm Marshall's prime seemed to have ended by 1992. Didn't look like a terror bowler in 1992 wc. Looked like an ordinary fast bowler.
Mark Greatbatch was given a life against the plumb lbw in Marshall's over. After that Marshall forgot to bowl in this match.
Except for the small fact of it pitching outside leg, right?
