I've been a drummer for 7 years now and I'm self taught and I just wanna say that setup you have, the triangular formation is the most amazing thing over ever seen truly unique and designed for speed you sir are one truly amazing artist keep making this music and I will support you.
hoyholyhoy Hey man! Thanks a lot for the kind words! The left floor tom was something I added to my setup just to push my left side more. It lets you think about fills a bit differently too.
Seriously though like that speed you got because of the formation is something I picked up from seeing you play I've never seen that until I saw your setup and I can finally get the speed I need to push myself further now really great full I found your page awesome stuff and for that comment earlier I do realize your not the first to use that setup but your the first I've seen on it and it's awesome.
It was made popular by Tony Williams when he first started adding pieces to his traditional jazz setup in the late 60s & 70s. It was usually a small or medium tom although.
I was only familiar with the song Titan until today when I needed more and listened to the whole album. This album was just the thing the soul was yearning for.
Anup.....your growth as a young artist has been enjoyable to watch and experience..you truly are a modern day musical genius! Lion and Titan are amazing e.p.s ...but Ghost will always be number 1 in my book :-)
I just found out today that this is all one person...You have been my favorite heavy instrumental writer for a while, and now I'm just that much more impressed!
dang, I've listened to this album like 30 times, never took the time to read the description. didnt realize this was mostly one dude. Well done sir, amazing songs
I'm like amazed right now. Anup made every song sound As epic as possible. This album is perfect. Holy - shit. I've listened to Titan the song Every time I get a chance for four months now. This will be my first time hearing the others. They are all equal and maybe better than. Anup your talented And downright genius. That epic sound needs to stay in your work. It's freakin the best thing I've heard anywhere and it's addicting. You work hard
SAIYAN LIINEAGE Majorly Agreed Sir,And did you say he did all instrumentation on this?!If not= MIND BLOWN!!!IF SO=FUCKING WOW!!!!!ANUP IS TRULY A BAD DUDE!!!!!
Alrighty. Normally I can't get into purely instrumental albums because they can't hold my attention. Here is the first exception to that rule! Groovy and addictive. Amazing work man.
the fact that you offer free downloads of your EPs shows you are truly making music to share with people and money is not your main motivator, if anyone couldn't tell just by listening
it's amazing how i keep listening to your creations and i cant find a single second of any song that i dislike... very nice job anup!!!!! im italian and really hope to get the chance to listen you live!!!!!
Dude, this is just amazing. I legit have been listening to your live recording and video of Titan for the past day or two at work, and had no idea that was actually ALL you, I was sitting thinking "Man....this band is fucking awesome, I need their album!". I'm a huge Periphery and TesseracT fan, and can totally feel the influences. You should be so proud of this, not only a incredibly talented drummer but all round musician! Kudos :D Have my like, share and itunes purchase and I hope to hear more!
Memoirs 1&2 but especially 2 are fucking fantastic man. You are by far my favorite drummer. So sad I missed you at Atlanta, hope you can come back around soon!
your growth and progression has been nothing short of amazing, anup. from ghost, to lion, to THIS. keep it up bro! i know i speak for the masses when i say how excited i was to see this pop up in my feed last night. thanks for inspiring!
Woooooaaaah, that build up and drop in Perspective put a huge grin on my face just when I thought nothing could, just when I needed it. ;-) Absolutely phenomenal work Anup, honestly! ;D
I came here on Nicholas Llerandi's recommendation, and I've got to say I was blown away. This is awesome stuff! Looking forward to being able to purchase it on iTunes down the road. Keep up the good work!
honestly i love anup sastry. hes a musicial genius and we should be happy to life in a time where his art is freely available for people around the globe, the only sad part is that a lot of people cant afford to get devices to hear his music.
This is the first EP that's did something to me, my brain, or whatever it is because it's only 9:41 and my mind is super present, my body is energized, and I just feel all around powerful. Excellent work!
Your use of orchestral and choral instrumentation as well as your long and singular key songs remind me heavily of my own music. I really like what you did here.
you're a musical God, bro. I love your work in Intervals, and this is incredible music to have willed into being. Thank you man, for what you've brought to music, you're doing great work man, you're inspiring.
Awww fuck i never new you were doing solo stuff just discovered it right now and i love it ! Keep up man you're a great drummer and composer with a great mind ! subscribed*!
Just holy fuck. I was looking for more Djent to inject into my veins and bam! A wild Anup Sastry appears. Amazing stuff guys. Keep the instrumentals coming regardless if or when you decide to get a vocalist in. !,,,!
Breathtaking album, nice work man! The art for the album cover is beautiful. Titan is amazing. The introduction to Dreamer is really out of this world. Teach me how to make music like you man xD!
i associate this song with falling for a crush, for the 1000th time. lolmao it's really beautiful. makes me think of a cold train ride out into the sunset
Anup I really appreciate the music that you do!! I am so influenced by you after following your work.. Also, I was stoked to see you live in Melbourne yesterday :) .. God bless you and keep drummin hard!!! 🤘
Cheers for the "programmed guitars" explanation, I've seen you mention it before and didn't quite get how it worked, I assumed it was just a really good MIDI instrument. It's a cool and unique sound, and guitarists can't complain about it if they've ever used Superior ;)
Guitarists can't complain about the programmed guitars being a "cheat" and not real guitars if they've ever used drum programming software. I was referring to Toontrack's Superior Drummer 2.0 which a lot of "djent" guitarists use for drums :)
It was just a little joke, and I used to not mind programmed drums, until you listen to an album and hear the same samples over and over again... The drummer's parts are only one part of their sound, their kit sound and their feel is a huge part of the band lost by using programmed drums. Of course the end product can sound fantastic, but it won't necessarily sound just like the drummer who wrote the parts.
Conor Burridge that's why I "program" my drums one step insert at a time, for a dedicated original beat...however, it's mainly because of the limitations of my extremely inexpensive recording gear. And it's painfully time consuming and tedious. Can't wait 'til I can get some recording software and something such as Superior...
this sounds like within the ruins.. love it though and would listen to this way more than within the ruins just cuz the technique that anup has is so clean and amazing, its sick!!
I've always thought that it's an open string bass guitar note. But I wonder how it sounds so (awesomely) flubby while the rest of the bass track is tight as fuck
***** The guitar and bass is all programmed from samples of Anup himself playing. So it's not unfeasible that he recorded different articulations of notes for different purposes
I've been a drummer for 7 years now and I'm self taught and I just wanna say that setup you have, the triangular formation is the most amazing thing over ever seen truly unique and designed for speed you sir are one truly amazing artist keep making this music and I will support you.
Well that setup was really made popular by Travis Orbin but that's irrelevant I suppose, they're both incredible drummers!
hoyholyhoy Hey man!
You're fooling nobody, Aoba.

I just found out today that this is all one person...You have been my favorite heavy instrumental writer for a while, and now I'm just that much more impressed!

If I ever need to focus and just crush it, I slap in the ear buds and this is what I listen to. LEGEND.
I just noticed that Dreamer is like a re-explored version of Crystal. Very cool. Listen to Crystal and then this song, nice change in the swing.
I'm like amazed right now.
Anup made every song sound
As epic as possible.
This album is perfect.
Holy - shit.
I've listened to Titan the song
Every time I get a chance for four months now. This will be my first time hearing the others.

i’m glad the chords at 1:43 ish are repeated throughout the song as much as they are because they sound amazing
I love your music! And, thank you for introducing me to Nicholas Llerandi.
LOVE the sound of the bass in Titan!! Fuuuuuuu-!
the fact that you offer free downloads of your EPs shows you are truly making music to share with people and money is not your main motivator, if anyone couldn't tell just by listening
it's amazing how i keep listening to your creations and i cant find a single second of any song that i dislike... very nice job anup!!!!! im italian and really hope to get the chance to listen you live!!!!!

Dude, this is just amazing. I legit have been listening to your live recording and video of Titan for the past day or two at work, and had no idea that was actually ALL you, I was sitting thinking "Man....this band is fucking awesome, I need their album!". Wooow, that sound of drums, especially snare and nice china...super Double bass... I like it!!!
Memoirs 1&2 but especially 2 are fucking fantastic man. You are by far my favorite drummer. So sad I missed you at Atlanta, hope you can come back around soon!

And Dreamer... Fucking hell, that's good... O.O
This one is still my favorite of your EPs you've released so far. Keep up the excellent work!
You consistently produce great music that is groovy, brutal and beautiful. Great drumming and composing.
AMAZING!!! TRULY AWESOME-JAW DROPPING!!!

Conor Burridge The demographic of people that purchase albums do not care
There is nothing sexier than that low string bouncing off the frets at 0:56.
Thats my favorite sound. Its super friggin sexy
never heard a springy door stopper sound that good before
Hahahaha awesome
John LeDoux those were the most entertainment I had as a child. My niece has discovered the power of the wall dongle
Absolut einzigartig !
Это просто охрененная тема!!!! Лучшее, что я слушал после Chorder
Truly an awesome musician.
this sounds like within the ruins.. love it though and would listen to this way more than within the ruins just cuz the technique that anup has is so clean and amazing, its sick!!
Very good stuff Anup! Similar to previous releases but still great. The mix sounds fantastic as well!
Holy sweet fuck this album is one for the gods. Just all around perfection. Every time i think he cant get better it does...
Really awesome EP !!!
FANTASTIC!
The hell is that low hitting sound at 0:56? It sounds fucking awesome.
I've always thought that it's an open string bass guitar note. But I wonder how it sounds so (awesomely) flubby while the rest of the bass track is tight as fuck
*****
The guitar and bass is all programmed from samples of Anup himself playing. So it's not unfeasible that he recorded different articulations of notes for different purposes
Sounds like the F# string of an 8 string. Doesn't sound thick enough to be a bass, but it's about as low as one.
Great Work!!!!
all around sick guitars are even more clear
