These have to be decatted and mapped to get the real potential from the engine. Came from an Mt10 myself and was very underwhelmed with the low down power and bmw's torque restrictions in the first 3 gears. A map turns into a different beast. Absolutely love it now. And that annoying cold start taking out.
Annoying? Cold start is necessary high revving due to getting up the temperature due to emissions- so? No big deal just wait a minute or two. Start it put your gear on in the mean time it will settle down. To me my seat is fine, suppose depends on your ass size? Its not designed for long touring rides. Its designed to feel the bike through your backside for better feel/handling. If you want plush seat buy a tourer. So its a non issue. Vibrations? Had heaps of four cylinder inlines never noticed it being any worse then other bikes? Character boring… well I think its fantastic. Its refined, high quality and will do everything you ask it. Ride slow fast or in between with bloody good brakes and excellent safety features and electronics. So its character is confidence inspiring. Do you need anything else in it’s character? From speed point view… As an ex racer If you need to ride fast - it will do so in a very capable /predictable way. Its nimble, good quality suspension (at least for OEM) and handles like a dream. From road riding point view and practicality…Want ride slow? Yes it will - easily. Go through traffic filtering - easy. Finding neutral- granted but EVERY bike has idiosyncrasies and finding neutral is just a bit of knack about it nothing too hard, maybe ride a scooter instead if you cant manage it. So overall what are you bloody complaining about? Its a wonderful bike but people like you just bloody complain. Your spoilt and you don’t appreciate it. Every single bike ever made can be nit picked to death. My biiggest annoyance is people like you…Appreciate what you got (whatever that may be) & enjoy!
I definitely do appreciate what I have. I think when I say it’s a great bike multiple time throughout the video people still get upset about pointing out minor things. But without highlighting these minor annoyances how will anything improve? I’m not complaining about it, I’m simply just tell people who may care about things which they may not like. If the video upsets you then just don’t watch it!
Other reviewers have made the following comments : the radiator fan is on a lot, engine runs hot , vibration’s on bars and mirrors, ugly exhaust, soulless and serile, high seat height, fork seals weep , noisy fuel pump, cheap plastics, no outside air temperature gauge, finding neutral difficult, noisy engine but I guess this can be allied to most motorcycles these days and all that for £25,000 it’s a bargain!
@@grega.2755 Curious - did you tune it? I found that without messing with it's fuel map, it is very jumpy, hunting and unpleasant (unless you always exceed 5k RPM :D). After map it is mostly ok. Not ideal but acceptable. High RPMs are beast mode :D
Are you sure about the Sportmax thing? My 2024 has Sportsmart mk3s. So far, so good... I'm impressed. I had S22s on my 2 previous S1KRs, and they were fantastic. So far, the Dunlops are as good if not better than the Bridgestones.
@@FastOrange1979 thanks! I don’t think there is a duke which compares with the RR really! The RR is just all round greatness but… imagine if it had a v4 😍
They’re a bit soulless but on the other hand they just do everything so perfectly that they seem a bit bland but imo that’s a good thing, what’s the point of having a Ktm and after a week of riding comes up with eml warning lights and it’s back to the dealer? So a bit soulless but at least you can actually it so the choice is yours I suppose
Like your take on the bike ! On My S1000XR Vibes are not there or I’m so used to it after 3500 miles don’t even notice it Sound at start up yes yes real pain more for neighbours Neutral ! Again no issues after run in Seat get a m comfort high (if legs allow ) can do 75 miles 10 mins coffee stop back on it 75 miles back home don’t even feel it Obviously XR is a bigger bike with higher bars feel just right with all my new bikes do 2 to 3000 just a different bike , Ash anyone got a fix for high start revs ?
I own the s1000r sport. Cold start is not good with a end can. Suspension is rock hard even in softest setting. Seat is rock hard also. Mirrors are crap due to vibrations. Tyres are not the best. The clutch is snatchy. Keyless my arse. Should have bought the mt10 instead.
I felt the handling on the M was like the bike was on rails - maybe the flatter bars on the M help this? At faster speeds both feel good. But the M gave me more confidence - this could just be as simple as tyres. They both have great brakes - the strongest I’ve felt on a bike so far. I remember the Ms brakes being insane. Unsure if they are the same or slightly different!
You’re not even using 50% of the bike’s ability, maybe it’s your skill level that needs looking at, maybe ride it to its maximum potential and then review it again?
@@Cartsp70 are you gonna just continuously comment dude because you don’t agree with the video? Hi there, i own a S1000R M package and a M1000R both are 2024. I agree with you on the seats the m package is much more comfortable than the M but i kind of got used to both. The vibrations TBH i didn't realize it on the S until i got the M and it was realllllly annoying but found a fix on UA-cam for it which helped almost 50%. The keyless part is i agree why didn't they keep the fuel cap keyless...???? Shifting i didn't focus much. Comfort wise the S is much better than the M, i understand its a track/race bike. Yeah I think I’d do exactly that if I had one! They sound pretty beastly with a system.
You must have got a Friday afternoon bike. I’ve had mine for two years and it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned.
There’s nothing majorly wrong with it. It’s a great bike so I’m not surprised! Glad you enjoy it!

Yes,those OEM Dunlop's are horrific on any bike, I'm convinced they're made from recycled Lego
@ glad someone else agrees and it not just me then 😂 I gave them a chance but god I hate them.
Thanks for a great and honest take on the S1KR and MT10😊 I also happen to own both and agree 100% What heated gloves are you using?
Thanks! They are the Keis G701
I am 6'4. Feel great on this bike.

Similarly my F900 end can means I can't really take it to work at 6am lol. So loud it set the tracker off on my other bike through vibrations

Mmm think i will keep hold of my street triple. I am sure this has more go, but 100hp is plenty for me on the road
