This is a short video talking about a couple of things to think about when hauling a horse trailer. I would encourage everybody to consider giving this a try if you own a horse. Being able to trailer a horse somewhere can be good just for pleasure purposes, but it can be absolutely a requirement if you need to get them to a vet instead of the vet coming to you. When driving there are a few more considerations to think about as it takes longer to stop, turns are wider and the gap between you and traffic needs to be much bigger than normal.
With all that you then have to consider some of the inconsiderate or ignorant drivers out there that don't have awareness of the limitations a truck and trailer have, more so when there is a horse in the trailer. That extra weight really makes a difference and we're striving to provide the most comfortable experience possible for our buddies in the back so that they won't think twice about hopping back in to go for another ride one day.
As this video is so short, it's obviously not comprehensive in regards to trailering horses, but maybe just a few things to consider or become food for thought when you see somebody hauling a horse trailer.

I have stated for years that the only way to keep the open space in front of you that you really want to have on many of the busy roads theses days is to be in reverse. If there is a space in front of you someone will cut into it and usually slow down and turn right.

I got a trainer question. A horse that is too jumpy and spooks very easy. What can I do?

A question about going up steep grades with a loaded trailer. Haven't hauled for a long time. Is it best to shift down or count on truck transmission to do that. On my Ford truck it has that button to shift into overdrive, not sure what to do. Thanks.

There should be a setting to set the truck for hauling. Then the computer does a lot of that for you. Overdrive isn't for regular towing, it's for using a higher gear for long runs on highways usually. You can definitely downshift if you feel like you're riding the brakes too much.

Another tip, do not film if you drive a horse trailer 😉😂
