I give her a lot of credit for trying! I’ve had horses for 15 years and have never really learned to drive a trailer. My mom drove me to horse shows, and then my husband took over. You never know when an emergency vet trip or something else may happen. We’re finally getting a gooseneck, and I am determined to learn to drive it.
I live in Western Loudoun county Va where there's lots of horse farms. Seems like there's an army of moms and dads with half and three quarter ton pick ups pulling multi axle 40 foot horse trailers. Wish there was a professional driving school for these folks. They come around bends in the narrow roads fast with their trailers in the oncoming traffic lane. Have had to suddenly divert to the roadside culverts and vegetation many times to avoid losing my hood to these weekend warrior super haulers who lack an understanding of geometery and turning radius.
thanks for this. Have you done any more videos on learning to pull a trailer? I just bought a used truck and trailer. Never pulled a trailer before. Mine has a "safety brake" cord by the hitch- I didn't see you hook up such a thing. I understand the safety changes. Truck has a built in trailer brake controller. I have not learned how to set that yet. Any info would be great. I will have friends giving me some test drives but appreciate any tips or where to get good tips.
@@BarrettHouser THANKS- do you have any other trailering advice? I have a two horse slant load. My horse is big not huge- a warmblood - Is it safe to tie her in the trailer so she is not confined by the divider? That is haul only one horse and she would have the whole trailer, or is it better to put her on one side and use the divider? She is not fond of being confined but I understand it might be better for her to be able to lean on the divider. She has been in a stock trailer and in a straight load.
It’s so hard to say without actually knowing your horse. I almost never tie the horses if I close the compartment. If they are in a stock trailer or with the divider open, I will tie them. Just depends on the horse as well.
@@BarrettHouser so kind of you to respond. thanks. she has been fine in the trailer in the past. I was not driving or loading her and did not pay attention to how she was situated.
Love the videos! I would buy a hat if you dropped some. You should make like a limited edition hat. So when you get bigger on UA-cam everyone knows who the OG’s where.
Nothing like seeing backroads
PS I might want a hat depending on the design
You got it. I will do a post about it soon!

Do it! It’s not too hard
