    Thanks to your Flosstube video showing your dog stitch, I contacted the Etsy Shop owner and she is customizing a cross stitch graph of my beloved Scottish Terrier that has passed. I’m excited to see what she comes up with and then hopefully start stitching it.🐾🐾

    I've used a couple of different floor stands. I like the trestle ones better than the clamping ones. Before you invest too much, think about making a table/lap stand out of PVC (there are plans online) to see if you even like a stand. What I do is sit at my desk and prop my scroll frame on the edge of my desk, with my lighted magnified positioned between me and the work. I stitch with my left hand underneath and my right hand on top, so the light's 'goose-neck' is coming in from the left and the right corner of the frame is propped on the desk.
    Re the fabric on the Long Dog - that is very aggravating! And yes, it happens a lot. If you get fabric from a place that does not serge it, you can pull a thread along the edges that are not the woven selvages and be sure you have a piece of fabric that is perfectly on grain. Or if you have a serger, you can re-stitch the edge while taking a lot of care to follow a single thread along the edge. A recent kit that I did had fabric that so wonky that I ended up with fabric that was over an inch smaller in each dimension after I had straightened it out. (Luckily the kit had generous enough margins that I still had good framing allowance.) It looks like you measured from the 'shorter' end, so you will be fine.
    You've made excellent progress on your projects. I really love Winston!

      Thank you so much for the tips on the stands! There's so many options it can be intimidating! I'll keep trying to see what works best for my setup. Yes the fabric was frustrating that it happened. I'm hoping it doesn't cause any other issues as the piece gets longer! That would be a major disappointment. I love the winston piece too and it's cute to see it come together more :)

    YAAAAS! Join the Deadly Aquarium SAL! I’m ordering fabric (I hope) this weekend. I am on Team Lowery for sure. It’s my absolute favorite stitching accessory, and I get childishly cranky when I can’t use it. I even figured out how to get the little perforated paper ornaments into it. My only advice would be to go ahead and get the extra long bar along with it. It gives it a longer reach for getting over a couch arm, or just bringing a smaller hoop closer to you. (And you don’t need the qsnap adapter right away. I can hold my qsnaps just fine with the clamp that comes with it.) LOL I sound like I work for them, and I promise I don’t. ha, ha, ha!

      Oh great, I'm glad you're joining the SAL! So many people are starting this one :). Glad you enjoy your Lowery stand! It does seem to be the one that will work with my setup so I'm glad you like yours. I'll look at the longer bar too. Thanks for your input!

    I go with the “if I like it, I can afford it, I’m starting it when I want”. So I say go for it on the new SAL. What I’ve been doing with my WIPs lately is I have a basket that I fill with WIPs and/or starts, put it in my stitching spot and just grab whatever I grab. I am trying to switch out every month or so and it’s been fun to see my WIPs get attention 😊

    Great work!! I enjoyed your Flosstube! As far as floor stands, I have a Lowery stand, and I love it. It doesn’t take up space and it is easy to swing out of the way when I need to get up. I stitch in a recliner. It is the only stand I would ever need!! As for the uneven fabric, they don’t always cut according to the grainline. Your stitching is the plum line, as it were, so don’t worry about it. Your stitching is correct!

    Great video! I have SO.MANY.WIPS! I decided that Friday is going to be my day that I stitch on one piece until it’s done. I pick a WIP that is close to the finish line, and work on it on Fridays until it is finished. That’s getting floss and fabrics back into my stash. I’ve been doing this since Feb, and have finished 2 pieces.

    I’m so envious of your quiet stitchy weekend!! What a dream and damn what amazing progress on so many projects. Do you plan to stitch all the Lola ornaments before or by the holidays this year? I haven’t made a plan yet. I think I got three of them done so far. Your haul fabrics are gorgeous, that golden one … my mouth dropped. And I’ll share my two cents again … yes on Deadly Aquarium for you! 😊 And I’m still blushing from you sharing the bookmark to your thousands of viewers! Eek! Very thoughtful Andrew. Until the next stitch.

      It really was a lovely weekend! I need to plan more of those haha. I don't have a plan for the Lola ornaments except I have one more as a WIPGO call. I might just stitch 3 of them as they didn't all call to me like I thought they might if that makes sense ha. Are you trying to finish them all before the holiday? i am happy with that golden fabric... can't wait to see what to put on it. I maybe should have checked with you first if it was ok to share, but I was so blown away by what you did I had to show it off. It's really great work. I should have called out your Etsy shop more so people knew where to go, but I did have the link. Anyway, thanks again, that was really special to me! Happy stitching!

    Love all of your current stitches and I can see how you would be hard pressed to keep up with stitching on all of them. Maybe change your focus projects monthly so you never go more than a month without touching each one? Or some projects for week days and others for weekends and holidays?
    Regarding the new Frosted Pumpkin SAL, you can join in right away and then just stitch at your own pace. I have no doubt that I will not be able to keep up but the excitement at the start will be too hard for me to resist. 😊 I will just hang out near the back of the class and enjoy the fishing. 😂. I use a Lowery stand. You can also create a weight by making a long narrow pillow and fill it with walnut shells or dry beans. Use the weight across the top of your roll frame while it rests on a table in front of you. I have seen lots of people do this instead of using a stand.

    yes, I use a Lowery - you can flip it over to get to the back of the piece to finish a thread. It is not practical to stitch on a scroll frame holding it in your hand. You could follow the Recovering Monogamous stitcher - she finds her oldest WIP and makes it her focus piece and works on it x days every month until it is finished. Then she moves on to the next oldest piece.

    • @therunnerstitcher

    Stitch what strikes you at the moment. However, use the wheel, or just keep a list handy of all your WIPs, to make sure you don't forget any of them. Since I've retired I don't take direction well, so if I create a plan I can assure you I won't follow it! I like having a list though to keep track of all my starts and kits to make informed decisions on what to stitch.

    • @therunnerstitcher
      @therunnerstitcher  5 місяців тому +1

    Hi Andrew!! Ok, so what you’re saying is I need to put in way more time in my “walking to support Andrew - a long”!! ::giggles:: I think the weather will be much nicer this Sunday so I’ll be out there. 🎉
    Your stitching is stunning!! What method of stitching do you use (sewing, full crosses, stitch and stab)?
    I have a mermaid in a Teresa Kogut design that I’ve been tempted to stitch her skin 1 over 1. Now that I’ve seen yours, I’m gonna give a try. 🤭🥰🤭

    • @therunnerstitcher
      @therunnerstitcher  5 місяців тому

      Hi Jerica! Yes, if you want, put on those walking shoes with me! I'm hoping to finish in under 2 hours to give you a time frame :). Aww thank you. I'm still learning my technique, but I do full cross or sometimes half crosses to the right and back to the left if that makes sense. Oh definitely try the skin 1 over 1. The results are stunning! How far are you in the Mermaid piece? I've got that one but haven't started yet!

    • @Daybreak_Stitcher
      @Daybreak_Stitcher 5 місяців тому +1

      Ok, I’ll follow up with you on how long I’ll be walking. Hahaha 2 hours..??? I donno but I’m going to try without ending up in Urgent Care hahaha.
      I have a pitiful start on Teresa Koguts Seaworthy Sampler. I’m using a 36ct linen but I have stitched over 1 on 36ct and it’s not horrible on my eyes. But I’ll send you my last post (which was way long ago) and you’ll see I’ve stitched her tail and left off her skin because I wasn’t sure which route to go. But now that I seen the after work you did, I’m totally doing it now!! 🎉❤️🎉

    Your fabric was not cut straight before it was serged. When you get a piece like that you can pull a thread out. I would look for the line that would be near the top of the shortest edge. And pull out that entire thread. You will then see that top fabric area skinny on one side and gradually get larger. Not using that ditch that the pulled thread made, cut that top section off. And waaalaaa you have a straight edge. You can repeat that process on any side ( all 4 if needed) that is not straight.. hope all that made sense. Enjoy your stitching journey. You have some wonderful projects

    • @therunnerstitcher
      @therunnerstitcher  5 місяців тому

      Ok that's what I thought that it wasn't cut straight! Thank you for the tips on how to get it straighter. I might try that. Will it cause any harm or issues with framing if I leave it as is? Glad you're enjoying the journey so far :)
