@NoodleAsian I have a brother who was in a similar situation. He was working for an owner who just started the restaurant. They had him work 16 hr days 5 days a week. It's just the nature of that industry right now.

I feel for the man. Straight after I left school I became a nurses aid at a not for profit aged care home. The head of HR strongly encouraged me to sign a waver so I wouldn't be paid overtime. She said I might not get many hours if I didn't sign it. Years later after quitting a friend who still worked there told me she was purposely fudging the bookwork so the company got paid more from the government. She was escorted out of the building by police.
I think owners and managers who put their employees especially their good employees constantly in this situation, need to work it themselves. They talk about not creating a toxic environment but then they create the background and The workers have no choice but to be toxic. Been there... And then they get angry when things are not going their way and their total over and over again and if you want the system down the way that you have put it, you come back here and you work. But they don't want to work, they want to dictate. They wouldn't get their shirt dirty if they wanted to. And I guarantee you this owner, the only reason why he did, was because Gordon Ramsay was there.
