I had a couple of these a few years ago but sold them on. Wish I kept them now. By the way, there’s a little screw driver for setting the end points hidden inside the battery compartment on the transmitter 👍🏻
@@GarageMiniRCUK We had a group of buddies that got them when they first came out. Don't recall the year. Just dug it out to revive it. I'm on channel 73 lol.
Hi there looking to find out if this battery will fit fine? Gecoty Ni-MH Battery Pack, Upgrade 6V 2400mAh Rechargeable AA Battery Pack with SM 2P Plug and Charge Cable for RC Truck Cars
I got them from my usual hobby shop. Hpi still stock parts. And they do soft and hard drift tyres. The hard ones last ages. I've got another video coming on this ken block brushless conversion
Hi bud great video. Are the Plazmz 1200Mah 6v batteries rechargeable ones included? If not do you have a link to a type that would fit this one. Thank you
Hello, i am french and i juste bought thid model to my son. With an additional battery but i Can not change the batterie. How should it be done ? Thanks in advance. Cédric
So I removed the belt to attempt to make it RWD drift car but so far it’s not controllable like that, and it might because I have the locked diff on the front and the dog ones are keeping the tires spinning at the same time? Any thoughts on this?
@@GarageMiniRCUK I’ve watched your videos mine just spins out how do you keep control of yours maybe I need to balance the weight better. I most the electronics mounted to the rear
I have a question whether you need to shake up some parts in this model because I do not understand what you are saying because I do not know the language and I wrote it with a translator
Hey bud do the wheels come off easy on the skyline how do they? Thank you thinking of putting the ken block 140mm body kit of the fiesta and the wheels on this
hi guys, we've had the falken tire 2013 ford mustang edition by justin pawlak. unfortunately we continiously experience problems with the front differential. the 2 nods of the plastic core easily break off. there is no tuning replacement. is anyone experiencing the same issues? regards
I'll put it on the next hpi video. I know there are upgrades available on ebay. I haven't given it enough runtime between the other 2 I have but will mention it.
More hop ups and tunable parts for wl toys k989 /69(some options to make into Rwd drifter but not easy.) . It's easy to tune and make into a very good drifter. Some nice 98mm mini z bodies you can use too. This hpi has limited choices but is good fun as a rtr drifter. Easy to drive. some hop ups on ebay. Dpends on space and where you running.
@@GarageMiniRCUK thank you for the swift and comprehensive reply. . My wl toys 284131 truck came today having a nightmare getting it to run smooth haha
hey so is this even worth the 200+ dollars? it seems like it cant even hit a drift without spinning out. like if i wanted to would it drift around some corners like a car would.
The hpi is gonna need more space to run. Mini z you can run in smaller space and has more options. Check out my latest video on gla rally spec. Best of both. Also mini z lots more body options literally 1000s
I had a couple of these a few years ago but sold them on. Wish I kept them now. By the way, there’s a little screw driver for setting the end points hidden inside the battery compartment on the transmitter 👍🏻
i love those cars. i bought my first one during a nightmare period of my life.
Got my first one in 2005 I think bmw m3

I’d have races with those, while everyone has drift tires on.
Less grip makes the smaller scales look way more realistic, not just while drifting.
bought one in 2004. still in good condition till now. way more fun and easy to mods compare to mini z
Penguinrc sells carbon fiber chassis, they have three different kits to choose from and has a micro servo replacement plate
Thanks I will check it out
You can open the front and take off the belt for rear wheel drive no extra parts
I use gorilla clear tape on the steering servo. And I would say the servo will deteriorate before the tape let's loose.
I wanted on of these but only if I could convert to rwd and run 1/18 diecast
U can convert It to rwd u just need to remove the front drive shafts I did it to mine when I first got into the hobby they rip pretty good
I still have the r34 ones since 2012
There is a dedicated tool inside the radio to adjust the endpoints just sayin
My servo was loose 2 but has sponge sticky there lol stupid design sick car tho i got rubber tyres the things rapid very surprised and pleased
I've got an update soon of brushless conversion. 😉
@@GarageMiniRCUK my exact same thought lol cnt wait to see it
I have the mustang it works great but the steering servo bothers me it's held down by sticky tape and no screws. Other than that it works great
I agree they should change design
Hi there looking to find out if this battery will fit fine?
Gecoty Ni-MH Battery Pack, Upgrade 6V 2400mAh Rechargeable AA Battery Pack with SM 2P Plug and Charge Cable for RC Truck Cars
Yeah very poor design obviously I’m going to try a smaller servo with a 3D printed mount or something.
@@nikdeo6410 did you try that battery out?
Check out the brushless version of of I used a lipo with that
Would it be worth changing to brushless I have a hobbywing ezrun combo that's got the equivalent 180 size motor ,
I've just done this. Doing a video soon. Need metal pinion that won't fly off.
Does that gray Mercedes mini-z drift very well? Thanks!
I’ll have to watch the video again 😂 I’ve a few cars .
Great video bud showing wjat to expect. Do you ever need new tyres and where can you get them if you need them?
I got them from my usual hobby shop. Hpi still stock parts. And they do soft and hard drift tyres. The hard ones last ages. I've got another video coming on this ken block brushless conversion
Thinking about getting one what brushless motor did you put in it
It was one off bangood . It’s in the next video with the Ken block fiesta

Thanks mate. 😁The pack I used in the video is included in the kit with charger.
@@GarageMiniRCUK is the pack of batteries that are included with the skyline rechargeable ones mate and come with a charger?
Good video! Thx!
Hello, i am french and i juste bought thid model to my son. With an additional battery but i Can not change the batterie. How should it be done ? Thanks in advance. Cédric
Should be clips to take battery off , you might need an additional part as the mount glues to the battery . Unless you move position and use Velcro .
Is there a demonstration video ?
I’ll do one soon
Dang this things full toy grade huh? That's a bummer.
It's not as good as some newer stuff. It's better than toy grade. I love it as I have one that's 17 years old.
So I removed the belt to attempt to make it RWD drift car but so far it’s not controllable like that, and it might because I have the locked diff on the front and the dog ones are keeping the tires spinning at the same time? Any thoughts on this?
This car doesn’t have the steering angle to make it Rwd drift . The front end would need to be resigned I think
@@GarageMiniRCUK yah that’s what I figured I’m trying to find other parts I can mod the steering with.

Servo needs glueing down. Other wise good ready to run. You can get better parts if you want.
Thanks
Hey bud do the wheels come off easy on the skyline how do they? Thank you thinking of putting the ken block 140mm body kit of the fiesta and the wheels on this
Depends on some of the wheels are tight. I've done the Ken block brushless conversion for next video...
@@GarageMiniRCUK thanks do I need a special tool to get the wheels off the skyline mate
Just be gentle they slide off
I just got one today and I want to take the wheel off but there’s no bolt holding it in place how do I take the wheel off?
You have to slide off outer rim to show inner hub. Then that has a screw

How can I put a one way diff in the front? Mini z have that option so can I do something like that for my 2014 rs4?
Yes you can get a one way diff off ebay. Not easy to find
How would you compare this to WL Toys 28 scale?

Depends on the surface. There are cheaper and better drift cars out there.
These cars are meant for carpet or mats I had rubber tires on mine for sliding around on hardwood and cement and it worked amazing
Looks horrible.. prefer the wl toys 1/24..
cheap, fun and fast..🤙
I'll pick one up to test. I have nostalgic attachment to this particular car. Its not value for money although compared to a miniz its cheap 😂
Which WL toys 1/24 is it?
how fast it is
Depends on tyres . You make it faster with rubbers . The brushless version I made is insane
Where i can buy this?
Hip racing have dealer lists for each country
anyone know if this body fits the zd racing s16 chassis?
No idea yet
i think the only car that has a chance is the hbx 2188
how long it works on a single charge?
About 30mins depends on style of driving and surface
Does anyone know how long these take to charge? Thank you
About 1-2hours with standard charger. With my adjustable charger I can do it in 20 mins.
@@GarageMiniRCUK thanks for your reply. I think I have an adjustable charger somewhere. What should I set it to to charge in 20 mins?
I'll do it tomorrow and post on here.

This or Kyosho Mini Z?
Probably mini z. Depends on space you have to race and how good you are at tuning rc cars.
