Cool picks, thanks for the video. I recommend albums from Disharmonic Orchestra, Miasma, Atrocity, Dark Millennium, Massacra, Seance, Lemming Project, and Cadaver. Most of them are rather underrated and deserve more recognition.

Edge of sanity was such a good recommendation thank you so much. I listened to “Unorthodox” and “The Spectral Sorrows” both of them absolutely blew me away
Since you mentioned Edge of Sanity, I ordered Purgatory Afterglow recently. Unorthodox is an overlooked album in the EoS discography. Demigod, Purtenance, Cenotaph, Brutal Truth, Incantation, Bolt Thrower, Pan.Thy.Monium, and Monstrosity all put out amazing albums that year.
Such a sick video! Phantasm rules, Lycanthropy is a must listen as well. Honestly as much as a lot of great stuff was released in 91, 92 just seems to be so much more better in quality!
1992 was really a Golden Year. Death metal was has it´s peak from 1989-1994. My favorites from 92 are: Demigod - Slumber of sullen eyes Amorphis - The Karelian Isthmus Baphomet - The Dead shall inherit Bolt Thrower - IV Crusade Gorefest - False Have to check out "Cenotaph" and "Brutal Truth". Thanks for the tips, there are some I didnt know before.
Death metal and 1992: take my money. This video speaks to me deeply. Own every single thing you showed, most since the 90s on CD primarily (except that Phantasm, that's new to me). Finland was off the hook this year. And I agree with you on IVth Crusade being Bolt Thrower's best, though damn is it close with For Victory. I think Imperial Doom gets overlooked as the damn thing has been out of print since the 90s. Those early Kataklysm EPs were heavy as balls, criminal how mallcore the band is now. I would definitely be including Seance "Fornever Laid to Rest" and Cemetary "An Evil Shade of Grey" - both must haves.
This was about this time I rolled into the underground scene, when I found out that there was a whole world thriving underneath the sounds of Metallica, AC/DC and Guns 'n' Roses. It was so exciting to uncover all this stuff. Me and my friends were really into the fast and aggressive stuff like Napalm Death, Blasphemy, Deicide, Brutal Truth, Nuclear Death, Sinister, Cannibal Corpse ... and we were all heavily into that first Mortification album. We did not care about the christian angle (I don't think we were even aware of it), we were just blown away by the aggression on that one. Just listen to the title track, it's immense!! So glad you included it! Other good ones from that year were Miasma - Changes and Disgrace - Grey Misery!
One Death Metal album well worth checking out if you havent already which came out in 1992 is "Nonexistent" by Living Sacrifice. It got remixed and remastered on Vinyl and CD a couple years ago.
,My fav from 1992 is Atrocity Todessehnsucht . The album structure is unique. Theres like an intro 3 quarters of the way through which blends straight into the next track . The use of classical and soundbites, and the technical playing . Just an all round great album
As an early Mortification fan it’s really cool hearing the positive reviews on their music. Scrolls is definitely my favorite. Started a long needed genre , or at least was able to put the Christian lyrics to my favorite styles of music … Death Metal.
i will be honest with you, i'm a huge core guy, but in my early years of exploring more the genres of metal, i always appreciated some Death/Brutal death metal bands And i always be a sucker for some bands and albums that have riffs after riffs on their songs, but i can not get in too much in the genre bc i've listened to some albums that not resonates much with me One of my favourite death metal albums that i've listened to is: The Black Dahlia Murder- Unhallowed Death- All Catalog Deicide- Once Upon A Cross Suffocation- Liege Of Inveracity Pyaemia- Cerebral Cerial Defeated Sanity- Psalms of the Moribund Disgorge (US)- She Lay Gutted Soils Of Fate- Crime Syndicate Dying Fetus- Reign Supreme Hate Eternal- I, Monarch/ Infernus and so many on... i'm a huge fan of the melodic style of riffs with a lot of blast beats and more fast paced sound (btw TBDM- Unhallowed). I think your observation is correct when you said that the band Cenotaph has a sound similar to finish Death metal, since in fact there is an interview with one of its members in which he mentions some Finnish bands that he likes and reflects the admiration that he He has for the Finnish scene, in addition to wearing Xysma band t-shirts in some of his old photos and also some influences from Swedish death metal are felt in Cenotaph
91 for me, but damn great video. Honestly the entire early 90s was an insane time to be an impressionable teenager into death metal. My first death metal show was Obituary/Cannibal Corpse/Malevolent Creation/Agnostic Front in Detroit on my birthday in 92. Why they took a hardcore punk band out with them during those times I’ll never know. Obituary stopped after five songs because the skinheads were beating up the long hairs. Life changing show though. Malevolent Creation stole the show, totally in their prime. Retribution is still in my Mount Rushmore of dm albums. Honestly surprised it’s not on this list
Transgressor is worth a mention, a Japanese death metal band who put out their sole album Ether for Scapegoat in 1992. Best way to describe it is Asphyx meets Convulse, really good stuff.

My fav 1992 death metal release is easily Bolt Thrower and the IVth Crusade and the early 90s, 90-94/95 is also easily the golden era for death metal. edit: another '92 release: 'As the Flower Withers' by My Dying Bride

While I agree that 1992 was a golden year for death metal, I think the year before, 1991, personally might be an even stronger year for death metal; might even be the best year ever for metal in general along with 1986.. 🤔 I like what you said about Incantation 'Onward to Golgotha'; one of the most evil and sinister albums ever. As you said, Graig Pillard sounds so freaking demonic! 🤘👌😎👍
Also since I didn’t get to finish the video the other day-I wish there was a high quality version of the Solstice demo somewhere because I feel like it hits harder for some reason. You can find a shitty version on UA-cam I think. I was really bummed when Rob Barrett decided to give it up and just be part of Cannibal Corpse. Also, you linked Deicide “Legion” but didn’t mention it
Nocturnus - Thesholds. Great death metal out of Florida. They re-formed as Nocturnus AD in the later 2000's. They just came out with an album this year. Pretty solid stuff, but their early work is the best.
Personal favourites include Bolt Thrower, but also Soul of a New Machine (while Fear Factory isn’t a death metal band, that album certainly is and a forward thinking one at that)
"The IVth Crusade"? Yes. The vocals at the end of "Ritual". The Solo of "As the world burns". And "This time it's war" seems to only have become more on point....
From what I remember, 1992 was the peak of the original death metal wave, and by the end of '93, people were sick of it already, and it was already becoming a punchline. That's when it started to split off into different camps like melodic DM (starting with "Heartwork"), prog/tech death ("Focus" and "ITP"), etc.
imo 1995 was the best year of death metal, look at these releases: Morbid Angel - Domination Death - Symbolic Deicide - Once Upon the Cross Vader - De Profundis Suffocation - Pierced from Witihn Six Feet Under - Haunted Krisiun - Black Domain Force Nice vid, keep it up /,,/

Totally agree!!! Awesome year Baphomet, malevolent creation, utopia banished, Demilich, Sinister, Seance, Benediction, should have been mentioned. As others have said.
Gotta be 1991, I remember that, 1991 was the most important year for death metal Death - Human Carcass - Necroticism Cannibal Corpse - Butchered at Birth Morbid Angel - Blessed are the Sick Paradise Lost - Gothic Atheist - Unquestionable Presence Dismember - Like an Ever Flowing Stream Entombed - Clandestine Edge of Sanity - Nothing but Death Remains Unleashed - Where No Life Dwells Pungent Stench - Been Caught Buttering Grave - Into the Grave Immolation - Dawn of Possession Gorguts - Considered Dead Massacre - From Beyond Massacra - Enjoy the Violence Morgoth - Cursed Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients Malevolent Creation - The Ten Commandments Tiamat - The Astral Sleep to name just 20 albums.
Sentenced - Shadows of the Past! I'm a way bigger fan of their 2nd album which is really straight forward with the melodicism, but the first one is quite good as well, has a sort of mournful yet rotten atmosphere. A Finnish essential!
I always liked Acts of the unspeakable when Autopsy had a heavy crustcore sound. Prize metal. Listen to your Rotting Face and Blackness Within and you hear LA crossover and bands like Asocial and Siege
Hope your having a great day
It is, hopefully your day is going well also! 😀
Have a great day!
Asphyx - last one on earth
Malevolent creation - retribution
Therion- beyond sanctorum
Cannibal corpse - Tomb of the mutilated

Yeah, i think either 91 or 92.
The RP album in the back ground though, I ll have to get back to this later

Whered u get the cenotaph LP?
Sentenced - Shadows of the Past! I'm a way bigger fan of their 2nd album which is really straight forward with the melodicism, but the first one is quite good as well, has a sort of mournful yet rotten atmosphere. A Finnish essential!
I always liked Acts of the unspeakable when Autopsy had a heavy crustcore sound. Prize metal. Listen to your Rotting Face and Blackness Within and you hear LA crossover and bands like Asocial and Siege
Deicide - Legion
