Man, At the Gates Slaughter of the Soul is one of the best metal albums ever made imo I was stoked to hear someone else call it out for the harmonious metal masterpiece it is. Super dope album. Certainly not my first metal experience or anything it came out when I was like 15 or so and I didn't even hear it until I was almost 20? I think. "Hardcore punk" is my first love, I use this terminology because my taste is definitely on a spectrum from metal to punk; don't get me wrong, I can jam out to some MF Doom too but definitely lean toward hardcore! Woah, it's rad they caught Ryan from Municipal Waste on here, he and Tony are both good people, actually I let them stay at my apartment when they were just releasing Waste Em All waaaay long ago after a show and it turned into this huge loud ass party in my geriatric apartment building! It was wild, we had a blast. Hung out with em a few times wayy back when Andy and Brandon were still in the band right before Witte started drumming and Brandon started Direct Control. Anyway real cool down to Earth fun guys to kick it and party with! They're touring soon don't miss em!
thank you for this! i'm a metal newbie and i listened to all kinds of subgenres eventually deciding i like death metal the best. so i enjoy learning more and more about this subgenre. your video was very entertaining and educational :)
Found out about this while playing at Into the Darkness Fest this passed weekend. This is so well done and thorough. Really enjoying hearing from bands I look up to. It validates how I feel about making music when I hear how others went through a similar journey. Thanks for making this!
How I think most of us discovered Death Metal. (At first) "What is this dude? it's just noise..." (3 days later) "Holy fuck'n shit, this is the most badass shit eveeeeer!!" My year of enlightenment was 1991, I was 16. The band and album responsible for dragging me in? Morbid Angel ~ Blessed are the Sick
No, for me it was instant love hehe, never felt it was noise. I was 13 early 90's I was messing with covers on vocals in my first garage bands, had few Megadeath, Metallica, Maiden Slayer etc albums and wanted to make metal with a horror movie monster like voice, weeks later I had Death Human on vinyl and my first guitar & a 1.5 year after I was guitarist vocalist with my band Suffer playing live shows... You can see us live if you type Suffer Sydney Death Metal Lewisham Hotel in UA-cam. One video on my channel
Just got into death metal a few months ago at 34, this documentary was fantastic and got me a few new names to check out too. I love the fact that you end it with the caution tape shit story instead of putting that in bloopers.
I live in MA and my buddy Derek whos a drummer from a MA, in a band called Seax as well as a Motorhead cover band called Bomber at the time, took me to a Lich King show. I couldn't hold my head up the following day from thrashing my neck to bits.
This is all pretty good shit. I recognize everyone and no one in the crowds hahaha also i had no idea Midnight covered their faces. I need to get to more shows god damnit
I'm 42 n I still remember having to really search for this music, HMV didn't stock bands like Carcass n Obituary, I had to watch a metal show that was on at 2 in the morning in the uk n record it on a video tape by timer, read reviews of albums in magazines to find stuff lol wasn't easy to get radical hehee
EXHUMED!!!!! Lol, fucking Love Matt and Exhumed man, my favorite band and the coolest guys to hang out with if you ever get the chance, Never gets old seeing them live and getting soaked by Dr. Philthy. Need to watch the rest of this soon but love it so far, awesome job!

I like how you showed newer bands because most metal heads are stuck in the past so it's good that you shined some spotlight on some newer stuff
Yeah that was cool. I relate to Ethan McCarthy the most on how he says that on the extreme side, there are going to be death/grind/black mixing noise or dissonance to create some fucked up sounds.
Amazing documentary, thanks for sharing! Also, I love the fact that a lot of new bands are represented as well, seeing 200 stab wounds and such in here is very refreshing. The editing is noteworthy as well.
Appreciate your kind words, you can expect more of this in the future!
Such a killer doc man,this rips 💪

Phillip! Thank you for your support, it means the world to me.
Great documentary! Thanks!
What a great doc. And the perfect time for it to come out!
Lots of growth and interesting things going on nowadays, you can expect another film in the future from us!
Really cool documentary. I like that it's not rushed. The AOR and metal communities are great. 🎵🤘🏻🎸
Beautifully done.
Just finished watching totally amazing really enjoyed it great work 🤘
Appreciate your kind words David!
Amazing, love it. Thank you

Found out about this while playing at Into the Darkness Fest this passed weekend. This is so well done and thorough. Really enjoying hearing from bands I look up to. It validates how I feel about making music when I hear how others went through a similar journey. Thanks for making this!
This is a fantastic insight into our world for people on the outside of it to look at and learn something from. Good job!!
Truly spectacular! Thank you so much for documenting all of this! 🤘🏼
Thank you for this!
How I think most of us discovered Death Metal.
(At first)
"What is this dude? it's just noise..."
(3 days later)
"Holy fuck'n shit, this is the most badass shit eveeeeer!!"
My year of enlightenment was 1991, I was 16.
Very informative doc. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Just got into death metal a few months ago at 34, this documentary was fantastic and got me a few new names to check out too. I love the fact that you end it with the caution tape shit story instead of putting that in bloopers.
Thought I'd end it on a funny note, thank you for watching the film!
Excellent documentary! Thank you for posting!
Metal will never DIE 🤟
Super interesting! Thanx a lot!
Great! Very good documentary! 🤘
Thank you!
Nice profile pic - Considered Dead \m/
All i gotta say is rest in peace Lemmy!!
Yes! Midnight... SEE THEM.
Sweet the Beard Of Doom! Loltsa cool interviews here, Thumbs up!
Very wholesome guy, thanks for watching this!
Excellent documentary! Thanks
Great! One recommendation, you should mention who is talking at some point we don't know who is saying something, which band etc...CONGRATS! 🔥
Amazing work put in here, thank you.

Exactly. Went to Shades in Soho to get my vinyl.

Despite being tired and bored of this new age phoned in osdm scene thats grown to be pretty popular lately, i thoroughly enjoyed this whole doc.
I love Matt Harvey. One of the coolest dudes in the scene. He got me into EXODUS. And Mike from EHG. My favorite band.
I do love toilet sounds with blast beats over it. shits groovy
Vomiting and poo sounds 👌
Great film! You can tell it's authentic because almost all their voices are busted.
