- A how to for replacing your broken upper radiator hose on your n54 BMW, very common for these to fail so if yours has this is the video for you! Step by step what to do! 335i 135i 535i and ix!
I needed this, the nipple on mine broke today and had to leave my baby in a parking lot until I can get back tomorrow to put the new hose on.
Good luck with the repair!
Mines did too where do u order it
Fcpeuro definitely! Life time replacement and Oem parts!
@Ulise-we2gh
Never saw you reclamp the reservoir coolant hose, there are clips to hold it in place above the radiator. Maybe that's why it broke in the first place. Also, they sell the complete hose assy all the way to the reservoir so you don't have to mess with the fitting that broke. Mine just broke and I'm replacing everything rubber or plastic associated with cooling. Thanks.
I clamped the hose back on at 8 mins 30 secs in! That’s a good idea to replace all parts possible!
That first hose that you pop free, the one that comes up to the bottom of the one you replaced, what is THAT hose called ?? Thank you in advance!

😂 lmao i’m looking for that one too , mine got punctured and is leaking coolant
@frankie9675 good luck! It’s an easy fix! Buy quality parts and you’ll be good to go
audio sounds good this time man, single turbo soon ?! i’m waiting for that build series to start 😔
Hey guys I took mine apart to do my ofhg and am I not putting the clip on correctly ?? I’m leaking coolant now from this hose at the bottom of the ofh
You may have cracked the plastic on that connector, it’s very fragile after long time of use, they make aluminum upgrade ones, I would start with that
Just did mine again...ughh! Your coolant is overfilled here btw. Only supposed to go to the ball on the level stick. But the ball should not be above the top of the neck on the tank when filled cold. Just FYI for next time if you don't know by now.
Thanks! Appreciate the advice!
Did you pre-dilute the coolant with distilled water? I just replaced the ET to Radiator hose on my N54 and replaced the clamp with a standard hose clamp.
I believe I used a 50/50 pre mix. But if you have concreted coolant it is suggest to pre mix to get your ratio right, if you have a coolant hydrometer you can just check your ratio that way. But if not pre mix and you’ll be good to roll. Best of luck!
@@dirtykurty92 After nearly seven years with an E46 I keep a premixed container in the trunk.
Mine is leaking at that bottom hose right where the metal ring holding the plastic piece is
Oh man! Good luck with the repair!
Made it look like stock from the outside while hiding good stuff inside
Exactly, it’s stock 🥸😉
do you have to drain out the coolant to install it?
You do not have to fully drain the system to do the repair, but a good amount will come out when you disconnect the hose
What's the 1st hose you disconnected called or a part number. Mine is starting to leak where it connects to the bottom of the upper radiator hose

This should be what you need I believe!
@@dirtykurty92 Thank you man I appreciate it, saved me from a tow fee!!🙏🏾
doing this later today thank you🙏
good luck! if you need anything let me know!
Did you only use a gallon of coolant?
I think I only used one, I bought two just in case
Did you drain the radiator already? I thought when you removed the hose connector piece, it would start leaking every where.
I did pull one side of the radiator hose first just to make sure it came off nicely and didn’t make a mess for the video! It will for sure pour out! I didn’t drain the radiator though just let what came out of the hose so less to have to refill!
@@dirtykurty92 could you give more info on how to fill the expansion tank/when to tighten/loosen the bleed screw. When i opened my expansion tank, I don’t see the indicator pin float up when i top it off with 50/50 distilled/bmw coolant.
When the water pump stops pumping for that brief moment, do you top it off real quick and let it pump again until no bubbles?
@@boss3931 you can loosen the screw BEFORE getting the water pump to run. so start by loosening the screw, next is make sure your coolant tank is topped off. Then start the water pump bleeding process and you will see your coolant tank level go down as the air is purged from the cooling system. Top off the expansion tank as the coolant level drops down. The indicator should pop up when your coolant expansion tank is full. Maybe it is stuck down or something.. maybe try pulling it up very gently just to get it to move freely. it should go up and down rather easily.
@@dirtykurty92 hmm, it’s weird cause I’ve seen other videos and everyone seems to do it differently. However on this video, this guy has a similar setup as mine where he doesn’t have an indicator stick in his expansion tank. Maybe its different on a n55 vs n54.
I have a 2011 n55 e92 335i 6spd.

@@boss3931 regardless the order of operation, the objective is the same as any vehicle, get the air out of the cooling system. Let the car run its bleeding process till you have no more air bubbles coming out with your expansion tank is full and you will be good to go!
You can see the plastic piece or the o ring falling off the original hose connector lol
Good eye! It was the oring 😂
Thank you for this so much
I’m happy to be able to help!
Did you have to dump the coolant?
I put a pan under and just caught the coolant that came out when I pulled the hose
@@dirtykurty92 thanks bro about to do mine just trying to get everything proper before hand! Cheers
@@Crazy.340i nice! It’s a easy job, just make sure your careful with your radiator well removing the hose from it!
@@Crazy.340i good luck!
What’s the name of the lower hose. I could find it on Amazon or narrow down
I think this is what your looking for, if not let me know and I can help more. www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-hose-f-engine-inlet-and-heater-radiator-64216983858
@@dirtykurty92 looked everywhere and couldn’t find this exact part. Thank you!
cant get damn thing to connect to radiator again even with wd40, also how do you get all the air flow cowling off or just start unscrewing until you can see?
Yea Just remove the two torx screws in the front if your talking about the intake tube! And maybe try a slight twisting motion well pressing the hose in, with firm constant pressure
big mechanic guy
It is what I do best!
nice video only sound
Thank you!
Broke my radiator 🫠
Ahhhh! I’m sorry to hear that! Just blame the radiator, it was weak!
why not talking about the oring the big problem from there
I was unaware of a big oring problem! What do you mean?
@@dirtykurty92 probably the oring thats inside the upper radiator hose behind a piece of plastic. thats the only thing i could assume.
Injection molded
Horrible video, it's too long with extra stuff for such a simple task.
You're moving and talking slow like you're high... We need short, instructional video. Use your editing software to edit.
Take this as constructive criticism, I want to see you do better . My fellow diy 335i . ✌
Can’t make everyone happy. It’s not the easiest thing to give full explanation on what it takes to complete some repairs, some people Need more explanation then others so what is meaning less information to you might be what another new diy’er needs. Yes I could do this job in 3 minutes, but to explain how and what I’m doing to someone that hasn’t ever turned a wrench takes a few extra minutes.Maybe shoot your own videos on a few repairs and actually Add to the community of knowledge!
@@dirtykurty92 I'm starting to understand. 👌
God bless
Since DirtyHurty is being nice I will say it, shut the fuck up! Don't like it, keep it pushing. This video showed me exactly what I was looking for.
To long the to long is necessary that shit helped me out a fucking lot might as well shut yo mouth 😺
