I have the 2010 version with 90k/kms on the clock. I bought it new and rode it daily on a 200km commute until I retired in 2013. After that I went on many weekend highway rides. It is a great bike for that purpose. A 6 speed transmission with cruise control and a deep comfortable seat make it ideal for a long day's riding. The tank is 20 litres so with judicious use of the gears and the cruise control you'll get 300kms or more from a tank. When the orange warning light comes on you have about 50kms left. There's plenty of storage both in the luggage and the 2 glove boxes in the dash. There is plenty of information from the instruments including fuel range which changes constantly based on speed, gear and terrain. Two trip meters and and odometer as well as a plethora of warning lights including for the cruise and ABS. The audio is fine AM/FM - we don't have satellite radio in Australia. You can attach a music player through an auxillary connection and play your own music through the bikes on board audio. It's a heavy bike at 400kg (900lbs) and not one for inexperienced riders or one you'd buy to do the daily commute unless ride is on the highway or open road. It's modeled on a Harley only brand new it is half the price ride away in Australia. There is an issue with heat on the right side from the exhaust. Sometime after 2010 Kawasaki added an extra fan behind the seat on the right hand side to draw the heat away and push it out behind the rider on the left hand side. I haven't ridden the newer model so I don't know how effective that arrangement has been.
@@robdonell9915 I no longer have the Voyager. I replaced it with a Spyder RT Ltd. I don't know about any upgrade to the heat deflection fan. The Voyager is no longer sold in Australia where I live.
Much as I loved the bike it was proving to be too heavy for me. Getting it off the stand and then controlling it at low speed around roundabouts, at traffic lights and give way signs was becoming a challenge. You don't notice the weight when you're on the open road but at low speeds it is quite heavy. As it turned out my son had an accident, and his bike was totaled so I sold him the Voyage for the payout and used the money to help fund the Spyder. I love all the safety features of the Spyder, but I still enjoy a two-wheeler ride as I have a Suzuki Burgman 650 scooter. Not quite a cruiser but fun to ride. @@Rapheal.De.La.Ghetto
I have a 2006 Vulcan Classic LT and it has been a great bike, low maintenance and very nimble for a bagger. My only gripe about the Voyager is the lack of modern electronics (Nav, Bluetooth, etc.). Other than that, I don’t think you can go wrong with any Kawasaki.
My opinion. After experience with with cars and bikes that include "modern electronics". . . . I think things like after aftermarket GPS's, Bluetooth communicators, music etc. are generally better than the ones that the manufacturers provide and you get things like lifetime map updates which you generally don't get with the units provided by the manufacturers and these things go out of date every 3-5 years so if you have aftermarket you can just update when you decide its necessary.
@@Jagshemasher I agree that aftermarket is generally better than OEM, but just having the option of having a TFT for navigation and vehicle information is easier to see and use than trying to use the screen on a cell phone.
@@lancem4473 - I have a an FJR1300 that similarly does not come with a factory GPS but I have a Garmin XT that is mounted between the handlebars on a very solid bracket and the thing chirps directions to me through a Cardo Intercom. The advantage of his standalone GPS you can take it and use it in different vehicles and I also think the Garmin XT is probably way more powerful than anything you can get from the manufacturer mounted GPS system. I’m sure there must be similar good brackets that have been developed for the Kawasaki as well.
Best upgrade for the voyager / vaquero is the IVANS tune.. freedom performance exhaust, roaring toyz intake. Really opens them up. They're great bikes. I have a 2011 vaquero

I know this is 5 years old, I have a 2010 Voyager exactly like this one. I bought it in 2015 with 1700 miles and was very fortunate to get it for $7500.00, I now have 31,000 trouble free miles on it. I also have a Concours for the crotch rocket yearning inside me. I use a run flat car tire on the rear and a larger than stock front tire.
I own several bikes including a 23 Voyager. They are comparable to other 103s in their class. It wont lurch you back in your seat and make your arms feel like their pulled out of their socket from that wonderous pushrod torque like my 114 will but they are fine. Very smooth and predictable. Tame and heavy as hell. Goldwings are monsters too tho. It wouldnt compare favorably well on hard acceleration thats for sure
Chill vaquero has different hard bags (open from side) side ratings (block wind from legs) no chrome, red gauges, different gearing for low end power, no tour pack (trunk), different seat. Still has same power plant, radio, cruise control, 6 speed transmission
I blew through a stator & regulator cause I kept leaving my key on 😂 besides that, my 900 has been practically indestructible. if I can find the cash this season, I would love to upgrade. Not sure if I want to upgrade to a newer bike or if I want to attempt to get a new property 😭

Just got rid of my '15, I put short windshield on it...... I need air Actually the 900's have a bigger gas tank The mpg is about 45 highway.....not really that good for pure highway driving Kawasaki did 6th gear right, their 1500 5 speed did 55mph at 2500rpm The 1700 6 speed in 5th does 55 at 2500 and 70 in 6th........so they simply added a gear, others rearrange gearing and end up with 6th being just slightly higher than the old 5th in Nissan's versa, 6th gear is actually lower than the old 5th.......much better for having fun in the curves but not better for highway mpg. Look at those grips, way too much crap, the radio isn't worth anything, cruise control is exceptional, the bike feels too short(wheel to wheel), but it handles curves nicely Stock rear tire got 5k, changed to shinko after 5k it was still good tire This was my first and last fairing, I traded in for '19 C90T

I'm the one buying this bike so I can say having had a Vulcan 900 as my first bike they are great bikes just wasn't enough power for me on the interstate. And it vibrated something fierce around 75 mph. But was fantastic to learn on. Had a Harley street glide after and loved it but had to sell it after I got in a bind, should have bought one of these instead of that over priced Harley.

The Voyager is the smoothest and most powerful bike i've ever ridden. I had 4 inch cobra slash downs on it and she sounds awesome hell of a ride!!

Someday I hope to get a Vulcan Voyager. I used to have a Voyager 1200 and I currently ride a 1988 Vulcan 88 1500A and a 2007 Vulcan 900
on the part about maintenance is that Japanese bikes tend to be very low maintenance

Kawasaki Voyager seem to be a excellent choice. I nvr lug my engine, thats hard on it, once u get down to 2,000 rpms its time to down shift.
