Me and a mate just returned from a European road trip. 7 days, 2,100 miles. I have 981 Boxster GTS and my mate has 986S. Our better halves with us for the first time so we were sensible on the roads, this time was more about scenery, sight seeing, Porsche museum etc. saw 44mpg avg for one of the days in mine, and my mate was getting mid 30s in his 22yo 986S. Incredible really for both motors.
Cheers man, not a clue who fitted it 😂 Bought the car with that roof pre installed and the heater works perfect off an OEM button so probably a specialist? Not sure
I’m sorry to say ole chap, but I believe you’ve miscalculated. I’ve seen your 27mpg with “spirited” driving, but on long trips with a consistent speed of 70mph (rpm I believe is very close to / or at 3000rpm in 5th gear) my best was 32mpg. This number is also shown on the manufacturers “window sticker”. My Boxster is a 1999 2.5 and this number was observed between Las Vegas and Bakersfield (285miles).
US and UK gallons are different quite a but I believe, therefore the US mpg measurement is different 😊 but 60 mpg is still unbelievable, maybe the fuel pump clicked i bit earlier? The maths seems all right 😅
I often forget that UK gallons are different, I calculated it to be about 23 miles per US gallon for the first trip, and about 50 miles per US gallon for the second trip.
@@calvinsgarage yes, that is about 27 mpg in UK, mine does about 9 l per 100 km, so I always have to do the calculation when I watch a video with with imperial units 😀
Boxster is really super good mileage with its performance engine still. It’s a hidden gem no one knows

Hopefully me and Toby will be taking the Boxster and his MG-F to Germany next summer. Sounds like it was a fantastic trip!
That final result 🤯 Imagine if that traffic light had been green
My 987.2 averages 30 and can get up to 40 on motorway stretches if I stick to the inside lane and don’t touch the throttle
I’d love to know what you’d get out of my 1600injection Beetle, aircooled model from 2003 …. I floor it around town and it still seems economical 😂
My long term average in 987.2 S is 15 l/100km, never got it below 11, car wants to be driven.
They really do love to be driven and could not be more fun
Good video. Who fitted the glass screen roof on your car?

Was that Norfolk on the A11 ?
I can get over 30 to a gallon from mine
Bro really said 1998 was almost 30. I'm 1998 and 26 today 😿😿

No, I haven’t miscalculated. 8.18 litres of fuel used over 49 miles works out to exactly 27.23 miles per UK gallon of fuel
