In today's video we get the Ford Focus RS into the workshop and start stripping the parts to check out the damage.. is it going to be expensive like the first video??

Evil GT have struggled with parts too. They’re doing the ST arch thing at £60 each
Don’t forget seatbelts locking out. I think these also have a airbag ecu for them that needs to be programmed or replaced.

That clicking sound is dreadful. Sounds a bit like the blend door actuator issue in the Fiesta multiplied by 100.

Amazing colour, yes. Obviously just not quite bright enough for the eejit who drove into it! 🙄
You might not read this but for the R8, along with that oil pipe (as you probably know the updated replacement is SS not mild steel so won't corrode as much) you may as well rebuild the oil/coolant heat transfer box (which is attached to the other end of that pipe, behind the blade). Commonly called the oil cooler but I don't think it's an actual cooler, just a way to transfer heat to/from the coolant.
Very common leak point especially if sat. It corrodes and pushes the plates apart and exposes the oil channels. £800 from Audi but for a few £ you can split it, replace the top piece and renew the seals/bolts for not a lot of money or time.
Looks like a straight forwardish repair, prices not bad for the parts, think you'll have this sorted in no time, great car, just not a Vag !!, Great job Dean, looking good.

I have a mk2 ST atm ultimate green mk2 RS is a dream car for me but the prices for a low mileage clean one are out of reach now. It’s hard seeing my dream car in this state, it will be satisfying to see it brought back to its former glory. Great content, look forward to the next!
They seem to be issuing cat "s" markers for so many vehicles that should not be right now. My theory is Copart has alot to do with it. Copart pay less percentage for a cat "s" than a cat "n" to insurance companies. Copart will have alot of influence over what category they are, & as salvage values are still ridiculously high Copart are very confident that they can still do crazy money. So they are in a win win situation. Pay less for them & make them do more than they usually would than in the pre covid days. Im just looking forward to when the job slows down, which will then force them to re-evaluate there marketing procedure. ie let them be sold for a reasonable cost, as right now very few salvage vehicles are worth bothering with.

Few ideas on the clicking, obvs steering is over the place, not sure its the pump though as that would be louder out the car. To me that sounds like the HVAC system in the centre - something is hitting the motor/fan assembly. It happened on my megane and my mondeo, when one of the blades inside was damaged/impacted by something. So may be a dash apart job.

I think that clicking noise when you start is the steering pump. The dash lights were dimming in time with the clicks and the steering pump is about the only part that draws ~50a hence causing dimming.

Looks like insurance companies are writing cars off for fun now. They’re really not loosing out anyway with the extortionate prices they charge customers. Less paperwork for them to write it off rather than get involved in repairs that may go wrong and then it’s completely different ballache for them.

Rs tax is real was watching evil gt and a wheel arch liner 600 odd each but it’s 2 st liners stuck together good luck with this one hope you can find some bargains 👍
I think I’ve been quite luckily with localised damage, so only need the bumper and wing. Most other parts are shared with the ST so don’t command the RS tax 😮💨

Yep. You get absolutely rinsed by Ford on parts for any 'performance' model.
I once had a '91 Granada Scorpio with the Cosworth BOA V6. Any time trying to buy parts direct from Ford, when they asked which engine and I said '2.9 Cosworth V6' I could see the £ signs light up in their eyes.
I needed a new rubber donut (jurid coupling) for the propshaft and two outer CV joints for the rear driveshafts. At the time there weren't any aftermarket options available.
"We don't sell those parts separately. You have to buy the whole propshaft and two complete driveshafts."
'How much?'
"The propshaft is £600 + VAT. The halfshafts are £540 + VAT. - Each."
At the time that was more than the car was worth.
I ended up selling the car to a local Classic Ford business as a breaker. That Granada was my third & final Ford.

I would replace all the oil pipes with the updated versions on your audi r8. I am doing my own at the moment. They rub on the bodywork. I would also replace the oil cooler Dean. They are starting to fail like the pipes. I was interested in bidding on your focus but ended up with a focus rs mk3 to sort out. You done well on sorting your parts out.
The best thing to come from the Ford/Volvo partnership was the focus RS and RS500 with the Volvo 5 pot in it, i want one of those

Yeah I was thinking about it after, it should never of been written off really! If the wing and bumper wasn’t so expensive this would of just been repaired! Stupid RS tax is writing cars off unnecessarily

11:01 same power steering unit as the volvos of around 2010 my c30 has same unit and that wheel looks in at the top so check that suspension leg as it enters the hub.
Love fords- everything just bolts off and on.
Evil GT also rebuilding crash damaged RS. The RS tax is ridiculous. £300 for bonnet vents. They also mentioned the ST arch liners

"Front upper" and "front inner" wing supports count as Cat S. So it may well be that little bracket that did it.

EVIL GT are just restoring one of these Focus RS. He found out that the wheel arch liner is basically one and a half ST liners riveted together. He shows it in his video and rebuilding the front bumper

great work please note that the steering arm is a ford part only and the track rod end they only work for the rs and not the st
Evil GT is doing one atm and they have the same problem with the wheel arch but are giving it a go there self as doesn't look like a hard job worth checking out there channel to get an idea off prices and parts they are using as well

Quick heads up these also have a bespoke front undertray which are very rare and expensive. I do believe there are aftermarket options out there though…

Try and save the grills out the front bumper because they’re expensive because evil GT channel paid a lot of money for them they had to get front bonnet and grills and it was over £1000

You have just realised that Ford cars are all basically the base model and “performance” cars are built out of exactly the same parts mostly. It’s always been that way. Fancy bumpers, spoilers paint, wheels and seats all stated back in the seventies. Those days though the whole interior was different but you still got the same lights.
Maybe the clicking noise might be one of the blend door motors

Guys over at @evilgt found out the wheel arch liner is 2x ST liners plastic welded together, From ford £600 or the ST one is cheap as chips for 2 and build the liner yourself.

Hi just re watched your excellent RS rebuild ,which has inspired me to finally get one unfortunately not in as good pre crash condition as yours.
I know it's a long shot but have you still got the remains of the wing you replaced as mine are totally shot where they attach to the sill as I was thinking of trying to repair it as you know new wings are a bit pricey 😳
Thanks bud, unfortunately not no I threw it away, I do have the side skirt corner piece though. It’s been repaired but I ended up putting a new one on.
if you unplug that PS pump it might make less horrendous *VOLTAGE DROPPED BELOW 9v* noises. Its probably jammed and drawning a mental amount of current.
