Pantera was kicking ass before the masses even knew who they were. :)
1988-1990 Phil Anselmo in his prime... he was literally up there with Dio, Dickinson, Halford, Tate, Kiske etc. Too bad most Pantera "fans" won't ever recognize that...
IMO Phil’s voice was good here, but how he could deliver harsh vocals is so cool to me.
32:06 is the outro for Floods
Who knew it would come less than 10 years later
It's also van halen.as fuck
1. 0:00 Death Trap
2. 4:27 Rock the World
3. 9:01 Power Metal
Kinda forgot to finish….
Phil could hit sic high notes in his youth!! I dig it !! -Even with a square shovel !!
33:35 solo for By Demons Be Driven
34:38 sounds like a part the Message in Blood solo and also the ending for the solo on Goddamn Electric
Holy shit youre right!!!!
Doesn’t Dime play a little bit of Floods too?
goddamn electric 34:43
it’s so cool to hear that they truly always sticked to their roots unlike metallica for example
"We'll Meet Again" is the key between old and new Pantera. Thank you for share it, thank you.
I'm so glad people are enjoying it!

Ha! This is my edit and mastering job! Awesome! I was just listening to the original cassette that I recorded it on and thought I'd see if it was on here. Very cool! Down Below got cut because the tape flipped over during the song.
fbrocks Hi and thanks for the great job! Sound on this bootleg really packs a punch, unlike studio Power Metal release.
fbrocks Did they really play "Down Below" on this show? Are you sure becouse those days they played heavier songs like cfh songs and similiar.
They did play it. In fact, later when I saw them supporting CFH, they played a song from Power Metal....Burn I think. Down below was on the original broadcast, but got cut from my master because the tape flipped over, OOPS!
Now, I'm not 100% sure of the year. I have seen two different years listed on this recording. I believe it is 1989.
fbrocks setlist.fm/setlist/pantera/1988/the-basement-dallas-tx-73d64abd.html . Also, more CFH stuff was played in 1989, like Domination. Over And Out was still played in CFH tour.
+fbrocks Hey dude, do you perhaps have any idea if the solo that Dime played around 29:09 comes from any song they wrote? I'm fucking dying to find out. Sounds so cool.
dude this is such a rad concert
This show needs an official release.
this is the best thing ever on anything!!!!
Was this the first time the art of shredding was ever heard? If so then this is a historic audio track
Vince Paul was always the strongest brick wall!
Solid and click track tight.
32 years ago today!
Now 34 years!
LEGIT MAN! THANK YOU! RIP VINNIE AND DIME
I wish Phil had done one more album with "Cowboys From Hell" style vocals.
Puppy Monkey Baby i dont think he physically could, he wore his voice out but could still scream thats why he switched it up
If he quit smoking and took actual lessons he could probably get close by sheer determination
Incorrect. Phil changing was a decision NOT a necessity..
@Richard Kuklinski confess? I dont get why its so difficult to understand he didn't want to sing like this. If he could do it now he wouldn't. Most Pantera fans think CFH is their worst record.... including the band themselves.
@Richard Kuklinski
I have no idea what the badass version non sense it supposed to mean??? Are u talking about the interviews when he said he hates being called "badass??" The ones where he said its annoying and stupid?? That interview? Cause i know a lot of people like to spread this tough guy myth non sense. I know what phil said in INTERVIEWS. I literally never disputed that. LOL.
Honestly it appears like u didnt read what i wrote. everyone knows he stopped SINGING this(halford) way on purpose. Everyone also knows he couldn't do it again if he wanted to...which is fine cause he doesnt want to. His fans dont either. This is literally common knowledge since 1994. So ur about a quarter century behind. And the interview ur referencing is from 2015 ish. So even then....20 years behind.
Im tired of hearing he blew out his voice and cant sing this way anymore. He DOESNT WANT TO, HE NEVER WANTED TO. HIS CAREER has been a success without it. I get people like those vocal styles, thats cool, but christ he changed on purpose. Seriously this isnt rocket science
Fact is 14 out of 15 of his major albums do not feature ANY halford style vocals.
Just found this CD on Amazon of this live show and it's remastered sounds amazing. What A fuckin GEM
How am I only just discovering this upload. Better late than never. 1st of the 1st 2021, 7.28am Not a bad start to the New year!! 🎊🎉🤘🏼🥳🤘🏼
Pourquoi il y a pas plus de vue pour se vidéo sa c'est du Pantera à son meuilleur des solo de dîme bag de fou!!!!,
47:41 in the cassette tape I had from a am radio kzdc recording in 1990 , Phil said " Fukin aye " before it cut off.
this is fucking amazing, the solo's phil's vocals its fucking marvellous
Tanks for this live performances !!!!!!!

Incredible
I didn't thought they had songs from Cowvoys From Hell two years in advance but they had. Amazing and Pantera was too ofcourse. I can recomend this concert as well: Pantera - Showdown | LIVE 1990, BOOTLEG | RARE (Fixed tape speed!)
Sometimes seems to be young Rob halford 🤔🤔🤔
Pantera power metal live 1988
Glenn Fartel yeah we got it dude. We can read.
floods out 32:07
In an alternate timeline, Phil Anselmo could have had a promising career impersonating Rob Halford and Macho Man Randy Savage.
Over and out 41:42
Could we get a link to obtain this please?
I'll upload the lossless original somewhere and link in the description when I get to it
zb10948 do you know, if Phil Anselmo has ever sung any song from the Terry Glaze era?
Yes he did, Hot n heavy and Right on the edge in 1988, there is a concert on yt and i bet he sung many more
I thought The Sleep was from Cowboys from Hell. How come they are playing it at this 1988 show...
Because they wanted to play NEW songs. 3 days before CFH was released they played a concert with only 3 songs from PM and the rest were all off CFH.
First album phil WROTE with the band is CFH.....
@@integrity101 Even in 1989 they started playing most of CFH songs while there was at least 3 songs from Power Metal.
They were more interested on the new material and were about to change their whole sound.
@@francofernandorivastorres7055
Yea
The 2 albums aren't that far apart writing-wise.
40:04 sassy rex
What did he say? 19:56 - 20:29
mad max the movie? (I don't speak english)
Nah, he's making fun of some guy wearing girls makeup.
If he said Mad Max (Hammer), he's talking about a dude that was a DJ for Z-rock radio out of Gainesville, TX . It was like the first badass, real metal station.
@@jimmyfreeman5714 Yep, Mad Maxx Hammer.
It seems that Pantera has stolen the logo art from the band "Pibes Chorros" from Argentina! Have you been your Anselmo? Maybe you have drinks again? How cheeky. Lol
Up the hand of all the guys ! Who those that not dance are cops !!!
@@marianogds1392 If your old man is a shoemakerrrrr !? ... take out the tin, yeah yeah,. Take out the tin !!
Prove that shit, cause hell no! I looked and I see no proof besides that band using a pot leaf with a skull... They didn't copy shit.... PanterA \m/
Lol
