    1988-1990 Phil Anselmo in his prime... he was literally up there with Dio, Dickinson, Halford, Tate, Kiske etc. Too bad most Pantera "fans" won't ever recognize that...

      IMO Phil’s voice was good here, but how he could deliver harsh vocals is so cool to me.

    Ha! This is my edit and mastering job! Awesome! I was just listening to the original cassette that I recorded it on and thought I'd see if it was on here. Very cool! Down Below got cut because the tape flipped over during the song.

      fbrocks Did they really play "Down Below" on this show? Are you sure becouse those days they played heavier songs like cfh songs and similiar.

    • @MetalRobTube
      @MetalRobTube 9 років тому +2

      They did play it. In fact, later when I saw them supporting CFH, they played a song from Power Metal....Burn I think. Down below was on the original broadcast, but got cut from my master because the tape flipped over, OOPS!
      Now, I'm not 100% sure of the year. I have seen two different years listed on this recording. I believe it is 1989.

      fbrocks setlist.fm/setlist/pantera/1988/the-basement-dallas-tx-73d64abd.html . Also, more CFH stuff was played in 1989, like Domination. Over And Out was still played in CFH tour.

      +fbrocks Hey dude, do you perhaps have any idea if the solo that Dime played around 29:09 comes from any song they wrote? I'm fucking dying to find out. Sounds so cool.

      @Richard Kuklinski confess? I dont get why its so difficult to understand he didn't want to sing like this. If he could do it now he wouldn't. Most Pantera fans think CFH is their worst record.... including the band themselves.

    • @integrity101

      @Richard Kuklinski
      I have no idea what the badass version non sense it supposed to mean??? Are u talking about the interviews when he said he hates being called "badass??" The ones where he said its annoying and stupid?? That interview? Cause i know a lot of people like to spread this tough guy myth non sense. I know what phil said in INTERVIEWS. I literally never disputed that. LOL.
      Honestly it appears like u didnt read what i wrote. everyone knows he stopped SINGING this(halford) way on purpose. Everyone also knows he couldn't do it again if he wanted to...which is fine cause he doesnt want to. His fans dont either. This is literally common knowledge since 1994. So ur about a quarter century behind. And the interview ur referencing is from 2015 ish. So even then....20 years behind.
      Im tired of hearing he blew out his voice and cant sing this way anymore. He DOESNT WANT TO, HE NEVER WANTED TO. HIS CAREER has been a success without it. I get people like those vocal styles, thats cool, but christ he changed on purpose. Seriously this isnt rocket science
      Fact is 14 out of 15 of his major albums do not feature ANY halford style vocals.
