According to Push Square's article, Yoshida said there will be a performance mode "at launch". Of course, any long-time FF14 player will know he talks out of his ass a lot, but I hope this isn't one of those times. It is pretty concerning that they haven't shown it, regardless.

For the first time ever, I may actually prefer English voice acting over Japanese. It's so dang good and it fits perfectly with the theme.
English voice acting was done first. Japanese is the dubbed the version.

I think the press of the buttons should mimic the characters action, so when you are lifting a gate, you should press L2 and R2, since Clive is using two hands to lift the gate

Stagger been in most ff games that came out after 13. They must really like the mechanic….
@@kuroinova2056 It's a great mechanic. Makes sense in the context of most combat systems. I liked the execution of the stagger system in VII:R and XIII has a very underrated combat system in general with a lot of great ideas.

not a fan of the QTE; if you want to popen the door, just open it, it is inconsquential if you fail the QTE and just puts more pressure in button pressing and wasting time. Other than that, it looks really good, the combat is nice - a lile to flashy with the effect but they are color coded for us to know what attacks is being done so you know what damage you are giving or being given - which is nce.
all in all, it is shaping up well
It makes sense for heavy gates
It is supposed to simulate that the gate is heavy which is why it will use the dualsense haptics feature to tactically give that feedback. It’s actually pretty well done.

agree, not necessarily sold on the qtes. Wish they'd have one of those rings but to just disable all qtes. Welp, not a huge deal for me anyway, everything else looks amazing
Looks amazing but it has too much distracting things on screen at the same time that could be toned down without being removed, the bright orange circle for the target lock could be a small white dot, the numbers could be smaller and not take away from the amazing effects going on.
As long as the lock on and camera work I am fine with it. Getting the lock on to focus on one enemy when fighting multiple is frustrating in certain games.
As far as the numbers or HUD elements everything can be reduced in size a bit without losing the details particularly I feel like the health bar/limit bar could be smaller.
Perhaps they have a size option. They worked on FFXIV and the HUD modifications there are amazing considering you don’t need an addon or anything.

I think FF16 took a performance approach considering everything else is way more complicated n transitions from 1 battle situation to another.

Hmmm reminds me of the Game of Thrones episode where you couldn't see.... anything. At least this has magic that lights up the room once in a while. Hopefully they show more of the summons stuff in the future because this feels more like Game of Thrones than Final Fantasy so far.

hi, speaking from the future, they showed more eikon stuff. Also, agree with the guys that it's not hard to see on my end.. maybe check those contrast settings on monitor. I know mine came with a pretty shitty setup from the store, i suffered with shadows on a lot of tv shows and games before figuring that out lol
Pressing R2 or buttons to open doors is not immersive and is just silly. Really wish they'd cut those things out of games.

Normal attack doesn’t have a cooldown it’s displaying a cooldown timer for the Eikon ability which transforms attack into something else.

I mean I'm not going to lie... I am excited for the game. I just wish it was using FF7R's battle system or something... similar with more abilities perhaps? Because I mean this gameplay looks repeatative as fuck. We get at most 6 moves we can use at a time... Plus a limit break, an attack and a magic attack, which is just exactly what you see here, you don't get anymore than this gameplay you see here other than alternitive moves you can equip in place of another. So, you have to unequip a move from one of the Eikons and then replace it with another, so you are always limited to 6 usable moves at a time. Which... Wow thrilling. Kinda disappointed, I'd like more mechanics or gameplay elements or something. I know we get Eikon battles, but they'll be few and far between.
Also, do enemies even have elemental weaknesses, because I mean... No gameplay has showed this as a mechanic meaning you'd never even have to unequuip moves if you didn't want to. Like I don't see what was wrong with FF7R's gameplay, I thought finally they've sorted out how to make FF work for next gen and if people want it to be action then it can be by setting moves to button setups. It could have used an extremely similar system which would actually pose a challenge and would allow for control of the other characters, massive gameplay diversity and giving you WAAAAAY more access to abilities, growth, a magic/ability system lie material/junction system/sphere grid etc. Allowing fit adaption in gameplay. Whereas this... is just going to be Dragon age Inquisiton with one character and 6 moves and your allies don't even do damage.
In FF7R you had 5 characters with 6 unique moves (that you didn't even have in the original), whatever magic, command, utility and summon materia you wanted to equip and customise to whatever character whenever, (which also materia upgraded) two limit breaks and combo setups and that's just the first 10% of the game with more abilities and 4 characters more to go. FF16 is limited to just attack, 2 moves per 3 equipable at a time Eikons and a corresponding magic that is just the DMC gun, just seems a bit... Meh. Like that's it... This is the gameplay for the extire game, other than your moves will change slightly depending on what you have equipped. If you could cycle through all summons at a time that would be waaaaay more interesting, but only being able to have 3 equipped at a time this is it... We have seen all the battle gameplay it has to offer. That said, I'm still getting it for the story alone lol. Just feel a bit like how is this expanding on what came before. Which gave you 100s of abilities, to now 6... I'm annoyed. Though, hopefully my doubts will be quelled and I'll love it, this'll probably be due to the story though.
I swear you guys should stop judging games on early gameplay. It's almost like you want to know everything about the game before its release. Can't you just discover or simply wait for more infos post release ? 🥴

Yes it’s always dark the sun was stolen in this world and it’s up to Clive to take it back otherwise people will always be in the dark.
Too much action for a FF battle system, feels more like a Devil May Cry with party members type of game, you can't even get to appreciate the battle animations because it is too fast paced. Nonetheless, the rest of the game sure seems PHENOMENAL.

I was really looking forward for FF16, constant QTE and button mashing, is the worst thing they could have done for me.
Play Stranger of Paradise, no QTE, no button mashing (Unless you play on Easy Mode).
You have no idea what a button masher game is. Considering that there are many elements in the fight. Button mashing will get you no where.
You have parry, dodge, blocking as well as cooldown on abilities. Button mashing will end up making you
Jump when you don’t need to potentially eating an attack

@@monchicruz8278 button mashing to me, is when there is a button on screen like X and you have to press it continuously to continue or win or fight or open a box etc. Pressing different buttons quickly in order to activate abilities no matter the speed is not mashing to me.
Oh God no. The frame cuts between attacks. The horrible UI and Dissidia-like damage numbers. The background music is amazing though, and I’m sure the story will be just as. The gameplay, however, has overwhelmed me. Getting it either way, so it doesn’t matter.
Like a dragon confirmed to me I just really prefer turned based in my Jrpgs. Going to Judgement after that, the combat bored me within a few chapters. This looks like a decent action combat, and I will get the game, I just dont understand why SE refuses to give expanding on FFXs situation action gimmick turned based. Here is hoping for 17...
Meanwhile, i loved my years in 14 and trust Yoshi, so I am sure this will be decent. Just really miss seeing a modern take on jrpg turn based in a high budget IP...

Also FF7R combat only feels messy if you don’t know what you are doing. Of course it requires a lot more from you than a regular turn based battle system.
Really not a fan of that modern UI design. Clashes too much with the general setting of the game and the number vomit is ridiculous. I really hope we can turn most of that off.

I don't like 2 things:
1. UI looks too clean and modern, it doesn't fit a medieval game. People complained about the same problem in Elden Ring during beta as well.
2. Those long gate/door opening animations are ridiculous. I could understand this in FFVII Remake since it was also on PS4, but this is a PS5 game, surely it can load thing faster.

These damage numbers are horrible, why bothering showing them in an action RPG, if they really want to make this looks more like DMC or something like that, they could have done something more like Kingdom Hearts.
Because It isn’t DMC and they are not trying to make it look like DMC.
DMC doesn’t have cooldowns and neither does it have RPG elements. They merely hired someone that knows how to do action combat so we aren’t left with FFXV.
Anyways we see numbers all the time in other games. Some of them can be removed and some of them can’t. You can’t remove numbers in FF7R for example.
Hopefully they have ways to adjust the HUD so people can’t stop whining.

Yea in your opinion… and it’s my opinion that this action combat system is better than anything turn based or ATB based they have done in the past.
While turn based games can be engaging let’s not fool ourselves most of the Final Fantasy games were very dull when it came to combat.

Too many particles from the effects, a lot of completely superfluous effects, there is also in places the inspiration of the interface, for example, the strip of the lives of opponents, first of all very long and large, which interferes with the perception of the environment.
I want to play origianl RPG style game with best graphic, not this action stye. If I want to play action game I will play somethig else. when will you learn SquareEnix. this kind of game is not your expertise. I not evern finish FV XV, It is so boring. I will pass this game with no regret at all.
