The Nintendo 3DS is one of the best consoles to have ever come out and it's still peak to this day, in 2024. A modded 3DS is capable of playings tons of games spanning multiple generations. In this video, I get into a small bit of the 3DS history and why you should get one in 2024.

I bought and mod a 3DS XL recently, damn so many games i got to play that i just spent 10 minutes just watching the games i always want as a kid, the 3DS is still worthy til today
Stuck in between buying the New 3DS XL and Odin 2.
Love the nostalgia but since I ever known the 3ds I get the feels to buy it
But odin 2 has better ergonomics, comfortability most prolly and it can be docked into the laptop or pc.
So I’m stuck buy the nostalgia form factor I didn’t get to experienced back then or go for the modern handheld style
What do you suggest?

@@Blue_Tsuki you can jailbreak it. It’s pretty easy.
It’s fun for a few days but gets boring quick. It’s nice to have if you already have one, but not worth it if you can’t find one cheap. I would just go for the modern solution (Odin, steam deck, etc) or maybe a switch if you don’t have one yet.
I found an old 3DS XL from when I was a kid laying around and decided to modify it. Best decision ever made.

The main reason I decided to get a 3DS is Pokemon XY. I could say that is the game that I can turn on and not get bored after 1000th time of just starting a new adventure or just go to the battle maison and do triple, rotation and double battles. I do not know why, but Kalos is so well design in aesthetic field that it just keep bringing me back, even though the games itself might feel incompleted with the lack of a third version, I still love those games.
I'm currently replaying both X and Y, in anticipation and preparation for Legends Z-A!
YOOO that’s the reason why I bought a New 3ds last year or so.
I also wanted to play X and Y because I think the games are just so cool.
(But I’m a bit stuck at the elite 4 because I keep losing as close as possible to winning💀)
X and y are overhated imo but they definitely could have benefited from a 3rd version. Theres something just so comforting about kalos.
Oh man XY were my first Pokemon games and I miss em. Really hyped to play Legends Z-A and want to replay XY,
but I need to get through my backlog of games first😅

I recently just got into modding my 3ds to replay ORAS. I was able to go back and feel the nostalgia of old event pokemon, like shiny beldum and shiny Ray, as well as install a new pokemon X copy after my physical copy broke a few years back. Its great and I highly recommend
no but fr 3Ds and the other DS handhelds are straight up PEAK! who cares if nintendo switch has fortnite, the DS is PEAK!!
Plus you can’t even play Fortnite with out lag in switch 😂😂

It’s great because most handhelds can’t even run DS/3ds games but this can run all the Nintendo handheld games ever before the switch, and it’s nice playing Nintendo games on actual official tendo hardware. There’s something more special about it.
Not to mention DS and 3ds has many of the best games ever made in my opinion

I got my hands on a Majora's Mask New 3DS LL in perfect condition and I modded it. I love this thing. The amount of content available that I never knew existed is insane. Thank god for the hShop and other homebrew software -- I even have Moonlight on mine.
3DS and VITA is by far more enjoyable for me this day 😂
One of my favorite features of a modded N3DS XL is being able to play PS1 titles pretty well. I have Silent Hill, Tomb Raider 1-3, and Crash Bandicoot.

I've always really liked the 3D feature honestly, I think it really pops in Monster Hunter 3U and 4U. I also use it a lot in Animal Crossing. Definitely not the best feature ever but it's a cute thing to have

I just got back into collecting 3ds consoles. So easy to mod with all the games you want. Great titles too. Still great even with new switch releases. And so portable!

I've always loved the 3d visuals even when I was younger, it brought such an amazing sense of depth and really immersed me into the games I used it constantly. It makes me feel so bad for the people who experienced eye strain from it cause it never hurt me and as a kid I had that slider always up constantly.
The 3DS was my favorite console ever. The new models were coming out while I was in college. My friends and I would all go get the new models when they came out and play together. StreetPass was by far the best thing ever to come to the gaming world! I hope the new switch has that feature. Now that Nintendo abandoned the 3ds by closing the servers, it's fair game to hack them. Take it with you places to bring back StreetPass!
I love the ds/3ds I didn’t get any ds console until i got a 3ds xl like 5 years ago. Got my switch a few years ago and still bounce back to the 3ds occasionally.
I don't agree about the 3D - yes it was bad on the original 3DS but on the New 3DS it's really very good. I don't use it all the time but I enjoy it when I do. Personally I'm a bit more into the DSi XL with it's dual IPS screens and better image on DS games but it all depends on whether you are playing a DS or 3DS game. As for the 2DS XL - you can really feel the 'cheapness' of the device with it's floppy hinge and cheap plastic shell. Now the original 2DS still feels solid and is very comfortable to hold.

Great video! It’s funny, I might be one of the few, but I absolutely love the 3D effect on the 3DS and always keep it on. I’ve had mine since 2011, and later switched to the New 3DS (non-XL). Honestly, I’ve never turned the 3D off! These days, besides gaming, I’m using it to build a big 3D movie collection by converting all my 3D films into 3DS format. It’s my way of preserving this dying format of stereoscopic 3D.

might be a bit late but if you have a 3ds modded install moonlight game stream on it so you can stream ur pc screen to the 3ds might be a bit high res but you can chill in bed and play ur pc game^^
What was your experience with the seller like? I keep seeing reviews on reddit saying they are scammers or send devices with sub par repairs?
I’ve been working with SumoShopStore since they started and I think they are absolutely amazing. I’ve personally never had a problem with their devices and the people I know who have, have gotten them fixed ASAP.
i bought a secondhand one this weekend. it's a bit pricey, but it's in a decent condition and already modded so i can't complain. i never had one as a kid, never even had friend who had one that i can borrow. so when i bought one, it really was the first time i was experiencing it.
most people feel that the 3d effect is meh, but i was actually amazed by it. it's not perfect, but if i experienced it when i was younger, it definitely would've blown my mind.
The problem is I don’t want to explain all the modding of the 3ds to my parents so they don‘t think we’re getting sued or some shit😭

bought a modded 2011 OG 3DS for 100$ decided to upgrade to a modded new 3ds LL 1TB for 340$ totally worth it
You shouldn't be using a 1 TB sd card. Not even in the new 3ds versions.
Max recommended is 256 GB and even that starts resulting in slow downs on launching and to the home screen.
128 GB is recommended.
I bought a New 3ds XL several months ago to play Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon. Now I have it on both the 3ds and the switch but nothing beats playing it on the 3ds.

The devices in the video are from SumoShopStore. I think they are in excellent quality and still work great to this day. It took a little less than two weeks to receive the item.
I think the 3D is hated by too many. The games that do utilise it are super unique. The games that don’t fully utilize it are still extremely fun to try in glasses-free 3D
Unfortunately Sumo Shop sold out! :-(. These 3DS are just going to get harder to obtain. We need a third party company to make a knock off with dual screen and with 3D.

;,) Look, the 3D isn't perfect and hurts my eyes too sometimes, but can't deny how cool it is to even have that feature available, and how certain games manage to make that shit a pivotal part of the experience. Like the particles in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D has when walking around Korok Forest. The games that really try having objects pop out the screen, what other handheld device is doing that?
Especially when put by my modded Wii U, this is easily my favorite console, if not possession.

Well spoken and well produced, I will have to say though, I feel the 3D makes this system magical, it's not for everyone I understand that but for those that enjoy it they really do geek out on it. Did you ever try the 3D slider at different positions? Some games I have to tweak it to get my visual sweet spot. Either way, great video man thanks for the content, lets keep the 3DS alive and well!

@@houstonJPG Guess it wouldn't hurt haha 😂 Seriously, I think people who don't enjoy the 3D are missing good stuff, even to this day, I don't getting amazed by how cool some games look in 3D, just Starting playing Lego City Undercover a few days ago and now I think it's one of the coolest ones just for the 3D effect alone, although the game in general is really fun of course. We do know that in the vast majority of games, the 3D effect does not play any part in game mechanics, but one thing I know for certain, games do look sharper when 3D is on even barely, whereas with this off they do tend to look a bit blurrier, haven't you noticed? 🤔

I just bought one 3ds xl $160 usd and 2 games and 2 digital games
I own all 3 dsi, 3ds, and new 3ds now
But I don’t play them, I hope this one get me back into gaming
tbh i would play my 3ds alot more if it was more comfortable. i don't always want to lay in bed and even that is sometimes uncomfortable especially my arms getting tired.
but sitting at my desk to play ds just makes my neck hurt, if i could just stream the ds screen to my pc screen and still use the 3ds as a controller that would so great tbh
though i guess i could just keep throwing my saves around from 3ds to pc? but i feel like that would be more annoying that anything lol

Does the Odin 2 emulate or somehow play natively? Cuz native is just better so many times
Also you can stream your 3ds to your PC onto citra now, which is kinda cool so you can use the good stuff of the emulator but still use the 3ds as the controller and such.
I dunno much about the Odin 2 but with a homebrewery 3ds you get native 3ds, DS and Gameboy games, which is a HUGE plus, cuz Emulation ain't perfect

I prefer the New 3DS XL, I personally don’t like the 3D feature, but I still like the thicker form factor and it just feels better to hold. In my opinion.

never wanted a ds growing up becaus i hated the two screen layout it had. love my gba. however, i just picked up a red new 3ds to match my gba and collection. looking at these videos im excited to play some games and try it out
Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate are some games I heavily recommend trying. I've also been playing Resident Evil: Revelations lately and it's actually an enjoyable game (as I've never played any survival horror games)
I got a 2ds ,xl and stopped using my switch and PC cause I've been hooked on playing the games I never got to play

The people that cannot appreciate the 3D feature are clearly not part of the targeted generation for this console. I truly enjoyed this feature and still prefer to play my 3DS in 3D mode.

I mean due of games quality overall are worse than before especially PC games. Hence retro console such as 3DS or older, where you play a game by put their iconic catridge make feel so much nostalgia and much better way to enjoy a game man. And I am regret that I sold my new 3DS XL switched to the Vita even the Vita is a great console now with the mod version but still play game on 2 display with the iconic catridge from Nintendo is still something feel more special for me ( I know Vitas games had catridge too but their own memory card annoyed me af ....)

The Odin is sick just based on price I’d get the 3DS xl if your just gonna play 3Ds games
If you really wanna get the full library of multiple consoles and don’t mind the price Odin 2 is the way to go
Tbh just depends on what you want out of the console. Imo emulation is cool but for me there’s nothing like playing on OG hardware 🤘🏽

Its really not. Just modded mine not impressed. Had a 3ds for a decade now finally modded it. Ive had modded vita and psp over the years have always kept ds stock. This thing is so underpowered you are limited to nes snes and ds games. The port selection is bad. So is the homebrew apps. The vita blows this thing out of the water as far as tweaks and selection. Its halfway to a portable pc now
