3ds pokemon games were amazing. I remember when X/Y came out I begged my parents to buy it for me. I had countless hours playing that game and it will always have a special place because it was the first Pokémon game where I could be my skin color. To actually have unique character customization and feel like it’s truly your own Pokémon journey. Even ORAS while having less customization due to it being a remake was great both gameplay wise and added storyline. I truly enjoyed this era of pokemon and honestly hope we can return to this format versus the ongoing format we currently use

I still stand by my word that Alpha Sapphire was the best 3DS Pokémon game, it was my first game but damn it quickly got me hooked, I spent so many hours collecting and replaying the story. I feel like the future games failed to capture the same magic, and I’m still hoping that they re-release it for the Switch, or maybe I’ll pick up Sword/Shield.
ngl I really enjoyed Gen 7. The main story and Post game (especially in Usum) were so cool and fun if u ask me. The totems were so much more challenging and creative than any Gym battle, and the Design were absolute peak too 🙏🏼
Compared to the switch, 3DS POKEMON games were Citizen Kane. My biggest gripes being X/Y’s easiness, and Them releasing basically the same game a year in a row just slightly tweaked (Sun Moon and the Ultra Games).
@@blitzbaseThe GBA era barely has any issues. Best Kanto game, Hoenn was awesome & the main issue was too much water (which I didn't mind that much). DP regional dex is meh, only 5 fire pokemon which is a crime & let's not forget how slow the game was + bad story pacing. I never get why people like HGSS so much. Johto had the worst scaling of every pokemon game, new mons are almost only found in the Kanto region, the Kanto part is forgettable, roaming legendary among other things. BW have no mons from previous gen until the postgame. People are blinded by nostalgia. Even with all the optimization issues SV & PLA are much more enjoyable than nearly every game before them.
@@BananaBlooD9517Agree. Having started on the 4th generation, the only games I see constantly praised over the time are Platinum and Legends Arceus. Everything else was hated at the start until eventually becoming considered great (mostly for personal reasons). Oras, for example, commit a lot of the same mistakes as BDSP, but still one is considered great and the other terrible. When the fifth generation remake comes out, BDSP will probably be treated as underrated.
3DS was the most cost effective way to complete living dex up to gen 7. SWSH and SV not even having full dex makes them so hard to having living dex and Home will eat up subscription fee that you probably rarely use once you done with the new entries.
I don’t know of anyone who considers this the peak of Pokemon. Everyone I know and have seen online call this the lowest point of the franchise with the worst games.

I was probably the most excited for the 3ds era due to the introduction of 3d but ended up losing interest in x and y and never played sun and moon. The introduction of gimmicks like the megas and stuff lost me. I still think ds is where things peaked and that’s coming from a gen 1 kid.

Not everyone liked mega-evolution, I know I didn't. I did give mega-evolution a chance and used them at first then stopped using them. The same with later gimmicks. My favorite new feature of the 3DS games is reginal forms and convergent evolutions is my favorite new feature from the Switch era. I thought Sun and Moon were a breath of fresh air to take a step away from the usual formula.

Pretty environment, mega evolutions, long post game, engaging story , cool pokemon designs, There was certain level of freedom when you flew on your latias or latios around region. I finished it two times in total. Then Ultra Sun i sleep. Narrow routes and islands seem so small. I feel trapped there. Non stop npc dialog where you spam it fast to skip. The most hyped pre-release was gold and silver as it was a direct sequel to red and blue at the time (I wasn't alive but that's what I've heard). I do agree though x and y were hyped beyond belief even if they didn't reach that standard set on them
@@RiteshPrabhu-l5d Pokemon’s entire fanbase at the time consisted of children. Most of which didn’t even know Gold and Silver existed until it released outside of Japan. Having internet was rare so really only Japan experienced pre release Gold and Silver. Pokémon XY’s first trailer dropped a bomb that it was gonna be a worldwide release it was the first 3D main series game. They showed us mega mewtwo Y before we even knew what megas were and a new eeveelutions (Sylveon) without telling us what type it was, the speculation and theories was crazy. The reveal of mega evos and the fairy type was pretty huge they created a whole animation based off Gen 1 just to do a mega charizard X reveal at the end. Pre release XY was insane you just had to have been there.
@@CEDL0Wpre release XY was so insane it made me buy it and i wasnt even a pokemon fan til then lol
Same man
I remember everyone was freaking out for the simple fact about Talonflame using Brave Bird
Just the jump from the move animation itself was peak, but sucks bc it was the beginning of the 3D downfall
PSS was amazing tho and it still is the best online feature Pokémon ever had
When?
3ds era felt complete, switch era feels like it's missing something. . . Like gen 5 remakes or good remakes at all, oh an they should've ported omega ruby to switch, would've slayed pokemons entrance onto switch!
bro is tipping if he thinks that us and um are worst then sword and shield
I like US/UM but I actually prefer sword and shield :/
Sword and Shield are great games IMO
Ikr sword and shield are worst in series and it’s not close at all
@@Chammer6lmao they are the worse games
Goat and Goat are some of my favorites. I finally completed the dex the other day for the shiny charm. As for S/M.. The OG Sun and Moon were absolute dog water. Still have yet to play US/UM but will be soon
Talking about the virtual console... heard "had" breaks my heart....luckily , I prepared well and have it. I was afraid about the servers shutting down , but then I remembered home costs extra to run bank. So I'm not too worried about it
I spent so much money before it shut down it was bad
Played UM, Y, Diamond(og), SS, black, sword, violet. And UM easily clears ngl, you should try it without a bias/nostalgic-pokefan mindset.😊
I recently played it and it was definitely better than I remember! I like ultra sun a lot better then the original but I still like ORAS and X&Y a bit better. All the 3DS games were good though!
3ds pokemon was perfect to me. I hate the switch games....mostly cause i only bought a 3ds to play the new games but pkmn moved to the switch too soon that i hated wasting $ buy a 3ds
i loved omega ruby, that game was my whole childhood
I am about to play ORAS again and I am so excited
the community 2013-2015 was unmatched my god this was over 10 years ago im feeling like the gen oners back then
Yo the 3Ds Fr might’ve had the best pokemon game lineup of all time
You can play every single region on the 3DS, I love it personally
Not only is the picture cutted on every side, the virtual console aspect ratio that should be about 8:7 is totally off...
Pokemon on the 3DS was not looked to be the peak of the series. Pokemon during the Nintendo DS era was definitely the peak of the franchise.
DS era is overrated, DP garbage
Some people think of the "mega evolution" era as the peak of the series but i personally think it peaked on the ds myself
I personally believe that if there was a Pokémon Z, it would’ve been one of the greatest Pokémon games ever. X and Y weren’t complete games but there was a vision that I hope is realized in ZA. And honestly I don’t actually mind having more than one rival, but like they can’t be push overs.
Great video !!!
Glad you enjoyed it, I hope you check out some more :D
ngl I really enjoyed Gen 7. The main story and Post game (especially in Usum) were so cool and fun if u ask me. The totems were so much more challenging and creative than any Gym battle, and the Design were absolute peak too 🙏🏼
its overhated for sure(better than switch) but ds era is still superior
I still think it was a crime not to release Pokemon Z
I am working on X and Y video and i have a whole section on that :D
Compared to the switch, 3DS POKEMON games were Citizen Kane. My biggest gripes being X/Y’s easiness, and Them releasing basically the same game a year in a row just slightly tweaked (Sun Moon and the Ultra Games).
If they remake gen 5 as good as they did gen 3, I’d never complain again.
If they remake gen 5 like they did gen 4 I'll never play another new Pokémon game again.
@@KolaTheBear I’m with you. It’d be the last I play.
hoping for ORAS quality not BDSP
Best era of pokemon
idc what anyone says delphox is actually such a gas starter
the background music in the sun and moon section is a bit loud and it’s hard to focus on your voice.
Noted I appreciate that help :)
@@StrawHatMidas no problem!
DS era was peak, though if we talk about games separately, S/V would be peak.
DS era was overrated
@@3dsfan2002 What other era is there????????
Another couple reasons I didn’t enjoy Gen 7 as much as Gen 6 was the removal of the Player Search System and the National Dex
I think we are currently in the lowest point in the series but this era had the ability to play every generation of pokemon games on it so some people think this is the peak solely because of the variety :)
I'd say the switch era is so much worse than anything the 3ds era did.
@@noobstoise1024 As bad as PLA and SWSH are, I don’t think they’re enough to make the entire Switch era bad. SV, BDSP, and even LGPE are fun games and definitely better than the 3DS ones.
@@jakevaughan8701 PLA was like the only decent to good switch Pokémon game. Like the 3ds games weren't amazing by any existing standard but were definitely better than LGPE, SwSh, and SV
@@noobstoise1024I gotta disagree on both accounts.
PLA is new for Pokemon, I guess. But it feels like a tech demo and is just full of wasted potential and missed opportunities. I’d argue it’s one of the worst in the series.
I can understand why someone would like XY and ORAS, but I feel like they’re pretty mediocre.
The fact we don’t have 3rd gen Pokemon on switch is so dumb. It would work perfectly
Right! It would be perfect. I would take even a scaled up version of ORAS :)
@@StrawHatMidas they just don’t want our money. I’d love to go back and play old ds Pokemon games without spending 200$
@@StrawHatMidasI wouldn't mind a Hoenn game in the Let's Go format if they keep mega & every qol they added since ORAS.
Actually you can toggle the roller skates off, you just have to use the d pad instead of the circle pad to walk
1:35 massive disagree and i will tell you why. These designs are VERY creative they are based on the "Holy Trinity" of Tank, Mage, and DPS. Delphox a Mage Greninja a DPS, and Chesnaut a Tank. You may have not known that so I can understand your point.
I was probably the most excited for the 3ds era due to the introduction of 3d but ended up losing interest in x and y and never played sun and moon. The introduction of gimmicks like the megas and stuff lost me. I still think ds is where things peaked and that’s coming from a gen 1 kid.
Man omega ruby was so good. By a mile my favorite 3D games besides arceus
My first shiny elektabuz was given to me with WiFi on this game. I loved throwing junk Pokémon for the few random rares. Now that I look back it was probably an asshole move on my part.
Title: Was Pokémon on 3DS really bad?
5 seconds into the video: They are considered some of the best in the series
oh ok
Pokemon on the switch is easily the worst and it's not even close. 3ds Pokemon is S tier, switch Pokemon is an F.
Yea😊
I don't care what anyone says, ORAS was peak
Real 🗿
I have to agree the DS is the peak era, but the 3ds was my first gen and holds a special place in my heart. Pokemon mystery dungeons gates to infinity was my first game ever, but no one talks about spinoffs much 😭
I loved pokemon on the 3ds i dont think it was as bad as some people say it was.
Real talk 😅 I haven't played them yet. I stopped after the ds line. But I just got pokemon x. So I'm getting back into it. I got hook on fan made ones too
i never played sun/moon i grinded oras and xy though i miss it fr i was 10 when oras came out im 20 now
Team plasma has to be the best villain team. They had a really great plan with new revelas till the end
"set the standard" imho it was peak. everything after (with the exception of oras bc its the same thing) didnt live up to x and y by a long shot
You can just the d-pad istend of the joystick and you wont be on the roller blades in x and y
I feel like if you talk about 3ds pokemon games you have to include ds pokemon games as well.I feel like the ds/3ds pokemon games are peak of pokemon
Yes I agree, but I’m a bit biased to 3DS because Pokemon Moon and Omega Ruby were my first Pokemon games
Pokemon yellow giving 4 starters was wild.
The problem with 3DS Pokemon is that we went from some of the best sprite work in the industry to some of the worst looking 3D models in the industry
I want a 3DS Just for Pokémon iv never had one 😍😍😍😍
Bro even i am looking for 3ds xl in 2024 to play pokemon games
I really dont like the 3d in X Y, its the start of the era with 3d pokemon, and of course it would look bad, however i wished they stayed 2d until they got 3d looking proper good. Imagine XY or SM looking like BW
i wonder why pokemon games did so good on NINTENDO consoles
This is a joke right?
I mean, to be fair, black and white introduced gems
I honestly think people hate on 3ds pokemon games too much
Don't get me wrong I wasn't crazy about S/M and US/UM however I think X and Y were great as well as ORAS
ORAS is fantastic. So much fun. awesome pokemon experience
I have never, ever heard someone say that 3DS Pokémon is peak, I’ve pretty much exclusively seen people regard it as the start of decline
The answer is no. 3ds was the beginning of the end.
The answer is yes
@@3dsfan2002 Nah. DS years stomp.
@@KolaTheBear DS is overrated library
@edwardsaldana2534 Lol. Sure thing. having 4 of the best pokemon games back to back Vs. The 3ds which had 3 mid games and a decent remake. Hmmm... I wonder who wins?
@KolaTheBear dont get it confused. The guy dislikes both the ds and the 3ds pokemon games from what I've seen so far. Comments on anyone liking the ds games and the 3ds ones.
Probably a GB fan.
I love playing romhacks on my old3ds from 2012. I played alpha sapphire and ultra sun. I never played original ruby and sapphire but aplha sapphire was peak for me. Not to mention that mark on map where to go totally kill any sense of exploration. Fights were okay. They were a lot harder compared to alpha sapphire. The way they made this game is just bad for me.
I think USUM were good but when ORAS was so good it was hard to compete. I didn’t like the original sun and moon though they felt very bland :)
@@StrawHatMidas How was ORAS hard to complete ? You mean pokedex ? I got unobtainable from that market where you offer some pokemon for other pokemon. Not to mention people traded them in wonder trade often. There was also stream on youtube that allowed you to get mythical and legendary i think from wonder trading. Also shiny of your choice. There was also reddit and other websites where you can trade with people. It wasn t hard to get 100%
@@tomasdqwx2781 not complete, compete. Like USUM came out after ORAS which were extremely good games. So USUM were compared to ORAS a lot because they released at a similar time.
Ruby/sapphire remakes aren't as good as the the original
Not as good as emerald, but they are better than the originals, IMO
I predict that the switch 2 will have a remake or a remaster of black/white it will be so fire 👁️👄👁️
Oras era was goated
Why is the picture here cutted on every side? 😅
Noivern will forever be my favorite pokemon.
6:05 bro forgot about the D-pad
😂😂😂
Tbh the 3ds games introduce something to the franchise that’s stuck
XY a gimmick and exp share
Oras A showcase for postgame and dlc that focuses on a specific Pokémon
Sun and moon more options for character change and regional forms
Ultra sun and moon alternative story options for 3rd versions and introduced easy ways to get shiny ledgends or Pokémon not introduced in the original game
I had no idea chespin was a started for a long time
While I don’t disagree gen 7 is one of the weakest generations of Pokémon, I think saying those games doing too much different should be a criticism, I think Pokémon moving forward should be trying to do something different instead of making the same experience over and over, stuff like US/UM and the Legends games are awesome for trying to provide a fresh take on this multi-decade old franchise, even if I will 100% be in a retirement home at 80 telling the nurses how goated OG gen 3 was
Who said that it was bad whoever said that is going to feel my wrath
