Critical Mach Number, Aerospace Engineering Lecture 26

Critical Mach number and critical pressure for an airfoil are explained. The expression for critical pressure is in terms of free stream Mach number is derived using the isentropic flow relations. The importance of wing sweep and use of thin airfoils to increase the critical Mach number is pointed out.
