  • / johnvonachen - In December 2009, I was privileged to speak before a large group of business professionals and entrepreneurs in Russia. My topic was, how to Create Your Best Year Ever in 2010.
    On that day, I ended by sharing a video my team and I had created to summarize the highlights of what I had taught.
    The audience was so moved by the video, many asked if they could have a copy.
    Today . . . I am sharing the video with you.
    My hope is this video encourages you as well.
    Share this video with anyone you know who needs a bit of encouragement and inspiration in these challenging times!
    It might make a difference in their day . . . and maybe, just maybe . . . their whole year!

    Love what you do and keep doing it. Visualize yourself in a state of good health and success. Imagine your screenplays being noticed by everyone and visualize yourself with all the money you need. Be happy and always see the positive side of everything.

    *sigh* ... it is so hard to find good inspirational videos on youtube. All I ever find is drivel nonsense like this.
    Anytime you say things like "you have 2 choices, really" - Wrong. Life has a virtually unlimited number of choices.
    "There are 2 kinds of people in the world" - Wrong, there is an uncountable variety of people in the world.
    "You can either . . . Or" - Wrong. The number of choices people normally have are so numerous that there is no "either - or". That kind of nonsense actually limits the "creative thinking" these motivational types keep encouraging everyone to use. They want you to be creative and see more possibilities - THEN IN THE VERY NEXT BREATH - say crap like "either you can . . . or" - insisting on a false dichotomy.
    Is it possible to be inspirational without completely turning off all your critical thinking skills?

    • @JVATV
      @JVATV  9 років тому +1

      Athena Brown Simple concepts are often the most profound. Yes, this video was created to be as simple as possible because it was created to encapsulate the ideas we had shared during a seminar. Regardless of whether you believe some of the phrases are “drivel nonsense”, thousands of people have found these concepts helpful. Most importantly, they work. I challenge you to create an inspirational video that contains what you want to see.

    • @kaseybrown7664
      @kaseybrown7664 9 років тому +9

      Certainly you can build something made completely out of logical fallacies, half truths, and things which are demonstrably false, and still have someone see it as inspirational.
      Some people may indeed find inspiration by completely ignoring reality and established factual information. For example, they could be told if they "JUST BELIEVE", they can throw away their prescription medications. They might end up feeling "pumped", but it's not a recipe for good decision making. In some cases, this could be potentially dangerous. The person is motivated and inspired to do something they shouldn't.
      This, and things like it, are certainly what I refer to as "drivel nonsense".
      It's very possible to make something inspirational that also promotes a psychological and emotionally healthy understanding of reality.
      As for your challenge - I do not know how to operate video-editing software. However, there are other vids on youtube that are very inspirational, and don't require that critical thinking skills take a leave of absence.

    • @kaseybrown7664
      @kaseybrown7664 9 років тому

      Ben Smith
      The video explicitly says:
      "You have 2 choices really" - "You can choose to just survive" / or / "You can choose to succeed." - "If you choose to succeed and decide to prosper - anything is possible."
      It does not say any of the things that you have added. It doesn't say "every choice is made with intention", nor does it say anything about those intentions being positive or negative, nor does it say anything about anything about anything that followed.
      What's more, given the situation and circumstance, choosing to survive can be positive, while choosing to succeed can be negative. There is nothing inherent in "survival" or "success" that makes either one inherently positive or negative. I also don't see how "choose to survive or choose to succeed" counts as a life strategy, although I appreciate that you're trying your best to help the author by making these reaches.
      You could have stopped there, but since you went further to state that my comments are a waste of time, I will point out that both my above comments have received more up votes than the author of this video has received on any of his during the past year. So it looks like the majority of people would disagree, and find my comments rather enlightening.
      Looks like you might have wasted your time. :)

    • @moonlightsunlight48
      @moonlightsunlight48 9 років тому

      Ben Smith
      Wait a minute, Ben Smith the video says "Question Everything," probably the only message in it that I agree with, but when Athena does just that, you call her "argumentative," as if that's a "negative" quality. This video is subject to public commentary and that means everyone's commentary is welcome, whether you agree with it or not. Now, you can certainly use your freedom of speech to try to deprive or stifle other people's freedom of speech in this forum, but obviously, no one has to "move on" just because you disagree with them, so this endeavor is clearly a waste of time. Besides, Athena did not try to justify her comments, she merely pointed out that her comments, unlike yours, have not been a waste of time, but have indeed been enlightening and very entertaining.

    • @dmasiello7
      @dmasiello7 9 років тому

      Cheryl Lewis Read the first comment in this thread. Look at the tone, the language used, the all caps etc. It's unnecessarily obnoxious and insulting.
      I've removed my previous comments because in retrospect I was just as guilty of doing this in replying to her comment in that type of tone. My apologies.
      I agree that people should be free to comment in a public forum, I just take exception to comments made merely to complain, and made in order to demonstrate intellectual superiority over the person who created the content in a self gratifying fashion. Either way, I'm finished debating this. Thanks.

      I understand why that might appear to be the case; however, I must disagree with you. I’m a firm believer that everyone can succeed because success must be viewed in much broader terms. Yes, only a few of us will earn the most money, have the biggest house, car, etc. or the looks of a movie star or supermodel. However, having traveled throughout the world, I’ve learned that we all have special gifts, what I call our individual "genius". With that genius, everyone has the ability to move forward, even if it’s a small step every day, or every other day. Everyone on the planet can achieve more and move forward to their own brand of success.

      JAMES WATSON lol wut? i dont mind hearing positive things, but when a video is titled "maybe, the most inspirational video ever" i have to question the fact that it really didnt do anything sensational, you seem to think that because a video brings something positive to people it is immune to feedback, and i have to tell you, no, its not, my comment reflects my personal experience with this video, if you thought the same or if you tought that this was the most amazing video ever, thats fine
      all that this video does it pushing positivity into your mind, this works for some people, some people might even need it, but other people like.. me.. i dont need it, im perfectly happy whitout needed to be reinforced by things like this, ops.. writting a bit too much now
      TL:DR: for me this was a pointless video, it might been great for you, but everyone experiences life diffrently

    • @Chaos0f7ife
      @Chaos0f7ife 8 років тому +4

      +EnderCrypt I understand that you don't need a little positivity in your life. That's good. But if you don't need it, you have no right to criticize this video for trying to inspire. What you said was not constructive criticism, it was an outright insult. What you said was "Hey, I don't need inspiring. so don't show me this video about inspiration". and if that's what you got out of this and if you do not need to be inspired. than your best option was to simply not watch the video. a video titled "maybe, the mainspring video ever" is saying that MAYBE it will inspire you. It was not saying that it WAS the most inspiring video.Once again, you had no right to criticize this video and all your doing is trolling.

    John, one of the most inspiration messages I've ever came across. I'm very big into the human level (thought process) and this sir is simply phenomenal. This video should be used in every single training development class/seminar across the world. Thank you for the genuine inspirational message as it will not only be shared, it will be remembered and utilized.

    We often walk in life thinking about the bigger things, success, money, power, privilege, etc,, and we seldom remember the more simpler yet very important things that are within us, such as being positive, self-motivated to succeed, appreciate what we already have, care for those who are less fortunate than ourselves, and forgive those who have hurt us as these are all vital components of a solid foundation that may ultimately guide us to be whatever we want to be and go wherever we want to go.
