Why you SHOULD Visit Cromer 👉ua-cam.com/video/49cW2xSR0q8/v-deo.html
Just watched the video of Cromer it really does look a real nice place love the zig zag steps down to the beach and a small library and those lovely cottages and most of all how the church stands out thanks for that till the next one 😊
If you haven't checked it out I can highly recommend the white heart hotel in Lincoln
Hi Terry, it would be nice to review Travelodge Central Croydon. There are many council guests here, and Sunday nights are cheap here. Are you on "What's App" and I will send you photos of the ground floor us regulars, call the psychiatric unit. Holes in the ceiling!!!
The problem with many old hotels: when built the main bedrooms were only on the first 2-4 floors and the public ground floor was grand. The rooms further up were for servants and hotel workers that lived in house so it didn’t matter they were small or the corridors were mazes. Roll on the late 20th century when no one has servants travel with them or hotel staff lived in house they were converted to additional bedrooms and the result is wildly different standards and sizes and a maze like corridors to get to them.
Very interesting, never thought about that!
That explains a lot! Thanks!
Excellent analysis.
Also never thought about this - great points!
Good point
My wife and I stayed here a couple of years ago, and are going again this year (2023). It is a lovely old hotel with a certain charm and character. Service and cleanliness was excellent, as was the food. My wife is Gluten and dairy free, and was catered for very well. The surrounding area is lovely as well, can't wait.
Lonely bed ... lonely cupboard 😅😅😅😅 lol
Love the fact the lift company is schindler, schindlers lifts always makes me smile
That panel in the corridor was for the staff (back in the day) to know which rooms wanted a servant to attend to the occupants needs. A servant call board basically. What a grand old lady that hotel is!
My parent's house had one of those - it wasn't a particularly big house (5 beds), but in the 30's middle class families often had a housekeeper/cook and there were bell buttons in the lounge/dining room and bathroom as well as 2 of the bedrooms. Ours was still in working order when my parents moved out in 2016. The coloured piece behind the glass used to move side to side when a button was pressed
At one time when you wanted room service you would pull a cord or press a button in your room and the board which you thought was something to do with electricity would flash or move the symbol corresponding to the room number out in the corridor alerting staff on your floor.
It's amazing the high number of staff these hotels used to employ especially during the season.
I guess that the odd folding table you found in a corridor was to allow room service to have an intermediate station.
How lovely it is to see a grand hotel that is still taken good care of. No damp stains no broken bits and lovely clean windows. That one is going on my list for next year
What about that horrible wallpaper and shag carpets? This is an ugly hotel. 🤮
Tim, I love all the vids but THIS is peak Walk With Me content. Can’t tell you how much i’ve been looking forward to another wander around a weird old hotel. Keep it up 🎉
Wow, thanks!
in case anyone hasn't mentioned it, the switch outside the bathroom is a timer, typically used for a towel rail.
Currently in the Imperial Hotel in Barnstaple, wish I'd had brought my GoPro, it's a really old building that too has had a makeover and looking really good.
Strange fact a 1972 Horror flim called the Flesh And Blood Show was filmed in the location.
I lived in Cromer for quite a few years and always wanted a look round. You have finally done it for me.Thank you
Fun little fact. They didn’t even used to close the pier even in bad weather until after 1993 when a rig that had broken loose smashed through it at night in a massive storm. My brother and I had been on the pier only about 30mins before it happened!
definitely not for me! I think for £129, the room should be warm and the 8 am breakfast with no other choice [never seen that before] it sounds like they must have high occupancy. these things can change quickly.
That's a beautiful hotel! As an American, I was surprised how tiny that room was.. we generally don't have single or double rooms. You usually can have a single king size bed or two queens but the room will pretty much be the same size.
Hi Tim. I’ve stayed at the hotel twice because I holiday with Alfa. Both times I have been to hot to sleep. Last November I asked for a fan( my room at the back was looking on to the pub). Saying that I haven’t had a sea view room. Fabulous hotel, staff are amazing.
Would be good Tim if you could tell us how much the rooms are you stay in, you used to….
The outside of the hotel is Gothic romance novel cover worthy. 😍
Considering you had a closet for a room, I’m very impressed with the fact that’s it’s very well kept, unlike other old hotels you’ve stayed in.
Great video - we loved the sea view and the stain glass windows. 👍
Watching from my own hotel overlooking calm crystal blue waters, I'm actually missing that howling North Sea wind!
Thanks Tim for staying and checking out this iconic hotel, I have very fond memories of holidays in Cromer and staying at the Paris. Good to see its in reasonable nick although not so decadent and grand as it once was but if coach parties are filling the place in March and helping to keep it maintained that has to be a positive.
Note: Breakfast here is served 08:30 - 2pm. 😜
What an amazing views you have and the wind howling would completely relax me and I'd be asleep in minutes, great review 🍻
The hotel Grand De Paris in Cromer looks nice Tim ,thanks for showing us.The only thing I would say is that the room didn't seem very nice,I would want a more spacious warmer bedroom.
Brilliant, it;s like going on holiday without having to move or pay LOL. Love old hotels..and seaside ones. Creaky floors, adore them.
My parents lived in Watton and we would often go to Cromer. We saw the hotel being transformed over the years. We were also there the day of the storm that took a lot of frontage of the road to the right of the hotel and pier. The residents must of been terrified. But on a good day there is nothing quite like Norfolk, the sunrises are quite something.
I did my first summer season on Cromer Pier in 1978, and the cast was hired as extras for a TV show filmed outside This Hotlel; it starred Patricia Routledge (I think), but I can't remember the program if anyone out there knows or remembers that would be very helpful. Thank you for the memories great seeing the pier again after so many decades.
There is so much history encapsulated within this Regency era hotel. It's the only place I've learnt where you can watch the sun rise and set from the same place, all in one go! This 1820s historical wonder steeped in history reminds me of the hotel from the film "Somewhere in Time" for some reason. 😉 Beautiful timeless hotel surrounded by a coastal haven. Thanks, Tim!
Very true
This was nice to see - well maintained, lovely old hotel, good breakfast (with lofty attitude at no extra cost!) I know I've said it before - that room had a definite M R James vibe about it! It's in the right location and the hotel is the right period! Thanks again, Tim!
Are you kidding it's a dump.
Well, I've not actually been there so I'm not kidding? My comment reflects Tim's video, not your one word review. But if you'd care to elaborate....
@@nelliemelba4967 yh I have eyes and have seen the exact same footage as you. It's not the kind of hotel I would pay money for. Look at the windows, wallpaper and so on. Would you really pay to stay here???
Well, it depends. On the cost mainly. I like old buildings. I do photography. Maybe I have a different outlook, maybe you have different standards. I respect your opinion but each to their own.
@@nelliemelba4967 sure from the outside I just feel the inside is a little worn and rundown. As you say each to their own but I wouldn't pay to stay somewhere so unkempt and tatty. ✌️
Nice hotel Tim it's for old people that hotel
This has got me looking forward to our Norfolk holiday in June 🥰
I like when you show the menu. I paused it to get a closer look and was impressed they had a vegan option for breakfast.
Excellent video Tim 🙂
I do the same, on any travel UA-cam channels I watch. Sometimes I wish I didn't, it makes my mouth water, especially if I'm eating instant noodles while watching them. Lol Cheers 👍
I paused it too! 😊
About to go to Cromer, got a carvavan so super exited
Visit Weston-super-Mare again and stay in The Grand Hotel on seafront
Lovely. I was born and bred in Cromer but left in the 80’s, fam all still there so visit often. As a local we never pronounced the S on the end of Paris and refer to it as the Hotel de Pari. Many an hour spent in the lounge bar as it was on our pub crawl route on the way to Crabs (the nightclub that was just over the way), now Lili Mai’s. I’ve never been in a room there so it was interesting to see. Thank you.
Hi Nicky 😂😂 yep, lounge bar then crabs then the pit 😂😂xx
Tim the man many a day spent crabbing with my mum and and then my own children take there children ..... cromer carnival even grandchildren take part in the carnival and light parade brilliant bk this year
Hotel Monte Carlo, Funchal - brilliant history, watch eagles swooping in over the pool, cheap as chips, totally underestimated. And landing is quite fun!!!!
The electrical boards were bell indicators. The staff member would notice a disc swinging to indicate which bell had been rung
Thanks for the video Tim!
Another fantastic video Tim.
great video thanks tim have lovely weekend x
What a great hotel beautiful detailing , great review Tim x
Oh this looks grand, can't wait 🤗
Fabulous view but that place would be my worst nightmare, especially the breakfast room with all those people!
I went abroad on holiday to get away from the 60+ lot...guess what is was full of them..most over 70😁
Looks lovely.
Thank you Tim for another great video. From Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Wow love that clock & thanks Tim 🤗
Thats where Steve Coogan stayed when he filmed the Alan Partridge movie
Enjoyed this Tim, looked OK, nice sea view
Great video thanks for sharing it with us, I love Cromer and I visit frequently I’ve never stayed at the Hotel but I’ve had lunch and a pint or two I absolutely love it there great place to visit 👍🏼
From outside it doesn't look too grand. Even inside feels like it leaves a lot to be desired especially in the realm of heating. I guess it is only booked out due to its location, because it doesn't look all to special or different from someone the other places you've been to along the British coast.
Oh wow, just walked past there in September and wondered what it was like, nice town :-)
Hi
Looks so clean and well upgraded. I would stay there yes👏
Looks nice place.
Great vid! I love an old seaside view hotel as well. So glad to see an old hotel not run by Britannia!
Oohh super! Thanks for the breakfast Tim.. enjoying by proxy 😋
Had a lovely holiday last June there..lovely staff, food pretty good great location, lovely town.
Can’t wait for another amazing video Tim
Hotel looks lovely, And that bedroom was cute and cosy. Amazing view. Another top vlog . Cheers mate 👍
I've been to Cromer it's lovely
Very lucky to live near to this beautiful hotel
Yet another EXCELLENT video - the way you put these together is fantastic!
Thank you very much!
I just love seeing these grand hotels! Thanks Tim!
My pleasure!
Serving table and lovely old servants bells.
Schindler's Lift never fail to make me chuckle :)
Came here looking to see if anyone else noticed😂
@@ryansellar9149 🤣🤣🤣
We have a Schindler’s lift at work, I swear there’s only me who finds it funny 😂
@@spiya6712 we have THE best minds :)
I saw a young girl in a red coat in a Schindlers Lift once and I thought I'd broken the matrix
Have stayed there several times and we love it. The double rooms at the front are actually magnificent.
It was a very good travel blog today when you chilling out and relaxing staying in the hotel de paris in cromer tim
Nice hotel ,very interesting
Always love your videos Tim!
I appreciate that!
I just love the look of the place.
It looks a beautiful hotel
Wow! What a gorgeous old-world hotel. The detailing is spectacular, right down to the mosaic flooring in the entrance. I'd suffer a single room for those amazing views. Cheers. 🤓👍
I REALLY want to stay in the turret room. And I love the sound of the wind!
Brilliant 👏 I worked in a hotel in Cromer a long time ago and meal times were all set times then! Freak video as usual xx
There are tons of places I have not vivited in East Anglia but fortunately I have enjoyed a visit to Cromer and it is a lovely place. I'm not really a fan of modern hotels as I think they lack the carachter of Victorian ones and the hotel de Paris looks full of charm and is definitely somewhere I would stay. Odd name though but I guess that Hotel De Cromer doesn't really work!! Fab job Tim, I loved this one and you have inspired me to want to stay there!!
Breakfast looked energetic! Great review tim.
Yet another great video Tim. I’ve never been to Cromer it looks a nice place for a holiday not too sure about the hotel though. All the best 😊👍
Looked very nice there Tim, bet the double rooms are lovely
They are!
It must be a wonderful place in summer. I would love to stay there, so grand.
Hi Tim. This was worth waiting for a lovely olde worlde hotel with a modern twist. One which looks very grand and regal. I would stay there.
Wonderful vid.. another fascinating place, thanks Tim! The only radiator is situated under a draughty window! 🙈 I love the sea in winter.. 😊
Catching up with you Tim and I must say this lovely old hotel is wonderful. A gorgeous building. A great place to explore and the view is amazing. Thanks Tim👏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
I've a single sea view room at hotel in March 2023.
It's roasting. Great new decorated room too.
Good to see what the inside of the Hotel De Paris was like. Mixed feelings. I think I would still make a day trip from Norwich by bus/train if I am drinking or by my motorbike or car. Thanks Tim.
Great video, I’ve stayed in Cromer many times but never been inside the H de P. It is coach trip central though, which is fine for those who want that
Interesting features
Hi Tim an excellent video and what and awesome looking Hotel high up with awesome views of the sea and pier.
Glad you enjoyed it
One of my favourite hotel was alfarma lisbon lounge suites. we had a room with a garden and it was so cheap.
Seems to be a nice hotel. Single room impressive! Often hotels popular with coach tours can be a bit shabby! Not so here! A piece of history!
Have stayed there (before upgrade) but it is a lovely holiday hotel with a great past!
The view from the window is lovely and the room is really quite nice. I like to sleep cold so I would likely keep the window open a crack to get that wonderful cool sea air and sounds.
Really enjoy your grand hotel videos. Many thanks
Glad you like them!
It's adorable 😍
Last time we were in Cromer , they were doing it up lots of scaffolding on outside , we sat on seats below eating our fish and chips x
What a beautiful hotel and fantastic sea views. I wish you had said how much it cost to stay there. Another great video. Thanks Tim 👍
Visited Cromer - was chucking down. Hope + Keen were the pier show act (mid 90s)
5:48 that's a timer switch for the heated towel rail
oh .. didn't work tho
Just come back from this hotel it was lovely
love these old hotels....so much history
Agree
Hotel de Pari getting the coverage it deserves. A moment in time. Good drink stop with the bar looking over the sea. Always a generous pour.
Hi tim Cromer looks very nice nice hotel too
The red lea Hotel in Scarborough is absolutely gorgeous a sea view room!
