Hi . I have an Opel Astra h 2005 gas .with one fan. Rezistors are fine. Change the fan with new one. And still speed 1 doesn't kick in. Speed 2 kicks in at 100°c. And I have error p1481-06. Open or short to ground. Any ideas? The car had the ECU replaced . Sorry for bad English. Thx

I'm confused how does the air blower resistence has to do with a fan not working, my car has hot and fresh air, and the relays are working but the fan won't spin anyways, I haven't test your method I'm just trying to understand.

Those resistors are shit, open to the elements and just rust away.
Are there two speeds to the single fan?
My fan doesn't kick in until about 108C, which I think is too late and too hot.
    Any knowledge about this?
    Thanks for the video.

It's works with 2 different relays I think. A low and fast speed and it looks like a problem with your low speed relay or even just a fuse. 108 is when the fan comes on fast which should never really happen cause the fan on low speed is usually enough to lower the temp back down to low 90's

Yes you are perfectly right I am agree with you in my case never reaches that level I had to turn on the heating inside the car two allowed the water to cool down

As I said before I'm not an expert but looks like you have to replace the resistor or to apply the same method I've done it in a video

Thanks for this - it's unclear to me where that resistor unit is located though. Also having done a lot of soldering, you need to quickly add a little solder to the iron before using it.

I have a different problem, which is that when I start the car, the cooling fans start running at speed 1. What is the solution?

Please, how can the coolant level be displayed on the dashboard, is there a solution? THANKS.

My electric fan works on its first speed at 102° and its second speed at 108°.
But at some point years ago I remember that it turned on at 96°. I don't know what happened but now it generally only works at 108°.
On the other hand, when I turn on the AC, the electric fan does not turn on, it blows air but the fan does not turn on.

Can i ask something pls ? I have the same problem , with the engine hot the fsn doesn,t work and overheat , but when i switch on the ac , the both fans works perfect , any help pls ?? Tks from the heart.

Sounds like is a same problem what I had in my situation I could replace the fan and the resistors together because they come from the manufacturer soldering together but I didn't want to wait for delivery and I choose to bypass the resistor I'm quite sure in a same way yours will be fixed as I said I believe in video as well or the description I'm not an expert I just had a problem and I try to fix it in the way it was much easier for me

The fuses and relays are all ok , but when i did,t switch on the ac , the engine fan never comes in , even when the engine overheat , so i ,m driving always with the ac on , to not make damage , if i did,t make damage still now !! This is not an every day car , i don,t use it too much, but when i swirtch on the ac , the both fans works fine.

What is problem I learn something new about the AC you try to switch it on in winter doesn't come on because outside is too cold as of this the fan will never come on again the AC jump zone only if the compressor managed to reach a certain level of the pressure of the gas inside the circuit and once the gas in the circuit is hot what the fans comes on to cool down the gas and in this case if the fan doesn't come on could be one of these above your problem

I tried one of the relays I took the plastic cover off and engage the relay manually to see if the fan is kicking in in any my case because of the resistor the founder doesn't turn on only if I try to turn on manually the relay for the second speed if you are able to see the temperature of the water after the water reaches 115 degrees the fan comes on on the second speed

My fan kicks in but doesn't ever go off even though the engine cools down correctly. I have to switch the ignition off then the fan goes off.
