The republicans purposefully are making it easy for their people to get in private schools which has been effectively killing public school funding over the span of a decade or so. They therefore would drop out. He argues that this disadvantages black people because they would of been able to keep up if they went to another college that dodnt go at such a fast pace. It isnt as simple as plonk people into colleges and thats best for them. Admitting based on merit not color of skin actually prevents discrimination and disadvantaging black people or any other person who simply is placed into courses even if their marks arent at the same level as the rest of the class is his argument.

Also, think about all the Black students just as smart or smarter than Justice Thomas that ended up working as sanitation workers or mailmen. How about that stigma! It is nor should it ever be ok or acceptable to give anyone preferential treatment based upon race or religion. Affirmative action is nothing but pure reverse discrimination. No one is deserving of affirmative action. Schooling, jobs, loans, whatever should be awarded solely based upon qualifications and experience. The number of whites, blacks, asians, men or women simply should never matter. Never. If you do not earn it you simply do not deserve it. I was the victim of reverse discrimination back in the early 1990’s. I applied to take the civil service test for the city I was born and raised in. I turned in my application and the lady told me that I would need to go to the study classes for help in studying for the test. As I turned around she said “ Oh, wait honey those classes aren’t for you” and she gave me a study guide and I left. I happen to know the captain that was over the training division. So I called her and told her what happened and asked what was this training class that I was no longer invited to and she said well it’s for the blacks I said too late for minorities like women black and Asian she goes no it’s just for the blacks she said but actually they can’t do that and I would encourage you to show up and she told me when and where to go to show up for the class. When I showed up the black lady was like can I help you and I told her what I was there for and she said oh well you these really aren’t for you, but I guess you can go and that’s what I was told that I couldn’t be denied entry to the class. So I went in there was like maybe 16 in there and they said next week we’ll go over some more so the next week I went back and it was like five there in a few weeks later I went to the last one and I was the only one that showed up. But I studied and memorize that study guide and our test had 140 questions and I got 138 right and was the top score. Well, soon after the scores were posted, the city determined that they were going to split the list they were going to have a white male list and a “minority list but only blacks would be on the minority list. They put white women in Asians on the primary list, so we immediately were contacted by the local FOP and we filed suit the case was hemmed up in the courts for several months and the city when I hit him again hiring so they hired me who scored 138 out of 140 then they hired the top black who had a score of 101 then they hired the next of the primary list with the score of 134 and the next black at 97 and just to be clear I still have the scores so I know they’re accurate I memorized it and then they hired a 133 off the primary list and then a 94 off of the blacklist so then more people file jumped on the lawsuit and make a long story short after about a year and a half the city lost the court case, and the two list were combined, and the applicants fell into the rightful place based upon their test scores, which were the primary means of creating the initial hiring list. They tried it with our promotional exams as well, and we again filed lawsuits and we won and it was stopped. If you don’t earn if you don’t earn something, you don’t deserve it plain and simple just because you’re black doesn’t mean you deserve preferential treatment that’s no different than giving somebody that’s white preferential treatment just because they’re white both are completely wrong. I never cared who worked beside of me; man or female, white black, pink purple as long as I could do the job I had no use for somebody that got something because of who they were not because of what they did. It’s just like the vice president see right now you have a woman in there that’s black and the only reason she was picked is because she was a black woman. She should be embarrassed to have got that position with no qualifications or experience as she was ONLY chosen due to being a black female. But some have no shame I guess.

Lol! Because that really erases the centuries that preceded 'Affirmative Action' for minorities when white people KEPT everyone else completely locked out. THAT is the ULTIMATE form of affirmative action and was allowed to go on for centuries in the UNITED STATES. We will certainly now return to the days where white males kept everyone else locked out with the hope that everyone would actually believe that they are 'supreme' in every way. All this decision does is allow for the return of the days when mediocre white males can be free to affirmatively act on getting their own into universities based on nepotism and NOT qualifications/credentials. We already KNOW that if left to their own devices, they will lock everyone else out-- regardless of how qualified they are. No one need be under any illusions.
I hope the country is prepared to deal with what this decision will certainly and ultimately cause. What we will see is a massive influx of people like Marjorie Taylor Green, Lauren Boebert, Kevin McCarthy ( lowIQ and mediocre folks) holding positions of power and authority, LOL! America is going to be just BEAUTIFUL in a few decades. I guess after this, we will eventually get to the point where we have been decades ago-- open and blatant discrimination, killing of minorities( even to a more extreme degree than what has already clearly been acceptable thus far), etc. That must really make a big segment of America feel REALLY good about themselves! Lots to celebrate today, uh? LOL

Rich parents can enroll their kids in SAT prep courses and hire expensive tutors to make sure they ace their entrance exams. A kid from a working-class family can't possibly afford that. All things being equal, wealth is a determining factor in who gets admitted. Then there's the legacy admissions which most anti- affirmative action people seem to have no problem with. And why should a mediocre high school grad be allowed into Harvard just because he's a great football player? Ending affirmative action hardly establishes a level playing field.

Clarence Thomas grew up in negative and dysfunctional homes. As a result, he had low-esteem and a severely profound lack self-confidence. His view that Affirmative Action undermined his academic credibility at Yale Law, and necessarily and similarly undermines all other non-whites, was him projecting. The recent Frontline documentary about him and his wife is all you ever need to see to understand how Clarence's jacked-up childhood is at the root of his problems (e.g., self-loathing, victimizing women etc).

    • @blankface5052

Classic liberal accusing any black conservatives of being self-loathing, nothing new under the sun. He’s been accused of being an Uncle Tom for decades. Instead of putting it down to trauma, maybe he’s an individual with his own thoughts and opinions? Maybe people don’t need trauma to be conservative? Also the allegations w women were never proven and only brought up in the mud flinging when they tried to make him a Supreme Court justice.
Also, Thomas Sowell explains well why affirmative action undermines blacks at Ivy League colleges. It’s bc on average many of them were qualified to go to college, but not an Ivy League. They were placed in circumstances they weren’t prepared for and as a result, most of them were on academic probation. They simply weren’t prepared for the level and quality of work at an Ivy. On top of that, their sat scores were several hundred points lower than the white and Asian students. Their gpa’s were lower too, so many people thought didn’t earn it. I went to school with students that didn’t belong and it’s obvious when you’re in the classroom with them. Their contributions to class discussion were often horrible. When I’d peer review their essays, I thought I was reading a fifth graders work. I was surprised some of them graduated high school. The truth is, many black kids are viewed as not belonging, not because the color of their skin, but because they lack the academic background to be there. The many that don’t belong and got in bc of affirmative action spoil it for those that do. By all means, let in any black kid that’s qualified to be there, but don’t let them in solely bc they’re black.

I am so glad that the Supreme Court spoke up for reason instead of the idiotic virtue signalling that is corrupting society. A student should never be judged based on their skin color, they should earn their place based on their capabilities. If you believe Affirmative Action is a good thing, then you are the one who is racist. You are the one that is saying that a specific race should be treated differently than all of the others. And they knew it, too. No one complains that the NBA isn't diverse enough--we all understand it's a meritocracy. And the uncomfortable fact is that the dearth of qualified black kids at higher ed reveals another truth: they're not capable of competing on the merits. Thus suddenly merit becomes racist.
