I tried doing multiplayer (on PSN) I ended up with a team consisting of one japanese woman, a chinese man, a Irish Man, and me from the good old US of A....to say the least it was an interesting match.
It's cause he uploads it the second the embargo lifts - smart for any reviewer to get it up quick. You all act like karek is the ONLY REVIEWER EVER to think of this ..... kind of obvious
As a long time Monster Hunter fan who started back on the PSP I think this was a very fair review of the monster hunter series in general. The issues you pointed out seem to be mostly the same in terms of gameplay style and game design that have been in the series since the beginning. I really hope newcomers to this series enjoy it as much as myself and other fans do, because it's a challenging rewarding, deep, fantastic series. My only gripe is that I have to wait until fall to play it on PC but even then the fact it's coming out at all on pc is a small miracle in of its self. But this games is shaping up to be amazing and I cannot wait.
This is actually my first MH:World review that I watched/read. As a huge MH fan seeing your quest timer go above 25 minutes, it is clear you are a newcomer/new player to the series so your opinion of the game is very needed for new players that want to jump in. And yes, this game is very deep, deeper than you may think and I wouln't go into this game without a proper guide (wiki or MH guides out there). Even with additions of damage numbers, ingame wikis and other stuff. Because if you think you have learned everything, you have basically just started. Good Job!
Speedy Ghost I have friends but none of them has the game/console and some of them has shitty internet.. Oh well, SP is still always fun for me anyway.
Elijah MacDougall I'm mixed on this game. Looks like a cool game as a whole but as a new Monster Hunter title it's hard to say. It kind of seems like they made this for new players and it didn't seem like Karak had played many other games in the series either. Nothing wrong with that, I think I just needed more comparisons to past titles so I could gauge where this game might sit with me.
As a veteran of this series who put tons of hours in these game. This is a pretty fair review. It IS repetitive and that will not fly with everyone some of the idea can feel pretty outdated for its time. I said this plenty of time as much people hyped it up just because of the "Pretty Graphics". This game is NOT for everyone. This game is still faithful to its roots which old fans will still love, others it may not. And that's how it is.
AtomictheComet finally a veteran of the series who isn't some toxic screaming infant that can't understand how someone might not enjoy the things they do. Bravo sir
From what I have seen of the gameplay, tearing oneself off from playing this to instead make a review is something that requires tremendous willpower. This looks awesome, can't wait for the PC port.
14:22 I would like to say that the initial curve/ introduction you mentioned has actually drastically improved in MH:W. Right now the intro sequence is 45 minutes at most, in previous titles it could be upwards of 2-3 hours.
Hey, ACG, uh I got a question unrelated to the game: Do you use any specific products on your beard? Like balm or oil? Great review man. I think you went about the criticisms well and as a long time MH fan I've grown accustomed to certain tedious things about the series (menus, timers, etc). I like that you pointed those out for new players. For me, these are not significant issues and I feel that they've made a lot of changes in order to bring new players in..but I agree 100% with every criticism..game might be hard to get into at first but man is it rewarding. Keep up the great reviews man!
Never thought I'd see someone say that the Arena was one of the best parts of Monster Hunter. It actually kind of makes me happy that even some of the less popular parts are loved by new and old players. Great Review, got my sub.
As a huge Soulsborne and MH fan, this game gave me the kind of hype I've not had in years. Pre-ordered the online deluxe edition as well as the Rathalos Edition PS4 Pro. Can't wait for it to unlock tomorrow and spend at least 1000 hours in it lol. I refused to spend less than 500 hours in any MH game i touch lol. HR 999 here I come!
Just wanted to stop in and (finally) give thanks for your honest, forthright reviews. I'm a 38 year-old without a lot of time for games, and have zero interest in watching reviews full of padding, subscription begs, grammatical errors, and dubstep. Why the disappointment? The wait means they're actually putting in the effort to make the PC version actually good for once. Not to mention the highest the PS4 version will go, even on the PS4 Pro, is 40fps.
Yours is the only review that matters to me personally. Most other big sites like ign only give 2-5 minute reviews which feel more like summaries of the game. hey man you might want to look for adopt-a-hunter (look it up) movement. it's an initiative made by MH communities to pair up a long time fan (Veterans) to those who only picked up the game (Novice). the aim is for the vets to "guide" the novices in terms of game mechanics and lore of the game so that you won't feel overwhelmed. Not saying that those who are new couldn't enjoy the game, but this game has always been much more enjoyable to be played with friends. eh, who knows you might make a new friend there as well.
Absolutely love this game. I'm playing it since yesterday. I think if you are a fan of the series this is a must buy! I started with Monster Hunter Freedom 2 on PSP btw.
Great review, and I wanna add something to the "repetitive" thing. :) Even if you do the same thing over and over again, it feels never quite boring, cause the gameplay is as good and challenging as in "Dark Souls". You can't just mash things away, you have to think about what you are doing... every single time. Even if you know the ins and outs of a monster, being careless gets you killed. And that's the magic about the grinding in a MH-title, the gameplay is so good that the grind isn't as bothersome as in a Diablo or a JRPG or what not. The numbers don't matter as much as your skill as a player.
Great review as always. This game is great. It didnt look like my type of game at first, but I was wrong. It is a very addictive game. There isnt too much story and there is a lot of grinding, but it is well worth it. If you like Dark Souls or Dragons Dogma, then get this game! You wont regret it. Best game I have played in a very long time.
Good review, i'm gettin my preorder tonight. I do want to mention one thing: Though this is just my idea, I think the reasoning behind why we are going around killing monster is supposed to be heavily supplemented by past games' quest descriptions, like they attack trade caravans or cause trouble for villages. Like, they are just known for needing hunting.
It's really good game i played the beta too but i will skip it's just not my game style but that doesn't mean the game is bad hope you have a great time with it
My friend told me right off the bat this game was going to be grindy, but I don’t mind the grind when the gameplay itself is extremely fun and rewarding, taking down these hulking beasts within the 20 minute timeframe of the beta hunts was a rush every time, I’m extremely excited to play this tomorrow
Just another 9 months or so.. Finally a review that mentions the repetitiveness without making it look like it's a bad thing. That's exactly what monster hunter is about just like most other online RPG's.
I've been playing the series since the first Monster Hunter game and I love this one. Granted it's not the most difficult MH game but that's ok, it's still more challenging than most games. I wish I had more time to play but when I do it's always great fun. I usually don't play a lot of multiplayer games because people are jerks, especially when it comes to new players. The thing with MH is it doesn't pay to be an asshat, you'll get booted by players quickly and get no rewards from the mission. There's no PvP and everyone is working toward the same goal. The community has always been a good buch, sure you have a few who aren't but 99% of the time people online are nice. This isn't a story driven game, it's combat driven as well as loot. If you're looking for a deep narrative look elsewhere, it's not that kind of game. That's ok, some games aren't meant to have a big story. If you're having problems in combat and it feels really clunky it's because you're not familiar with the weapon you're playing yet and your timing is off. Once you put in enough time combat feels fluid and natural. There's 14 different weapons to choose from so everyone can find something to suit their play style and have fun with. There's a lot to do in Monster Hunter World and when you trap or kill a high level monster is very satisfying. Even some of the low rank ones are fun even for someone who has played the games before. Then you get to crafting better weapons and armour from monster parts. The thing that's great for me is the thrill of the hunt, tracking a monster and learning where it goes to get food or drink or where it roams to just take a walk is fun. Then you find where it sleeps ane can set up explosive barrels or a trap to trap the monster when they run back to their den to sleep after you've hurt them enough. I'll be monster hunting for quite some time and more DLC will be on the way and I'm very excited for it!
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN MULTIPLAYER TO ME! Up until release I still don't have a grasp on how it works despite the hours of research I have done to try and answer this question. Can me and a few friends play this for our first time from start to finish or are there certain things you have to do solo? Also how early can you start engaging in coop? I'm beginning to worry from a few vague statements I have read
the intro needs to be completed before you can do co-op. yes you can play with your freinds, but only four hunters can go on a mission at a time. also for whatever reason you cant play a story mission in co-op until you have gone through the cutscene. then you can quit out and start it up again with freinds if you want.
+ACG How many character slots? (Dad and Son want to play) What age for children would be appropriate to play and watch? How many hours for recreational player? (Will not power game - thinking long term)
the game is rated T. there isnt exactly blood splattering or swearing. some monsters have tails you can cut off but thats it in terms of gore. as for hours, i would say this is a good game for a casual player who wants a long game. if yout ake your time to do side quests and gather materials, this game will last you a while. plus the devs are going to add free content updates bringing stuff like new monsters.
The framerate issues you mention sound about the same as the ones in the beta. They did mention something about a day one patch, maybe some of the frame rate will have been addressed from that. Hopefully.
could be. But sadly in the history of...well never has that actually occurred on a game I reviewed. It has always been bullshit. Maybe not here who knows. But day one patch always turns out to be notorious for...excuse for performance
not only does it have single player, but you can do all of the multiplayer quests by yourself if you want. they are more difficult however. but if you're worried about not having anyone to play with, you could always use the official monster hunter discord to find a group.
you can and usually there are exclusive gear that you can only get in solo or only in multi player. but the game is way more fun multiplayer just join random games. the mh community isnt like most other online communities. we love helping out noobs (it gives us a chance to show off!!) plus you learn way more playing with other players, like when yo throw flash bombs or set up traps.
Geminion Ray wrong, rhe fame is more difficult with players. The monsters health increases the more players you have, also their body parts require more dmg before they drop. Solo versus 4 man the monster has 5x more health
I got 3 questions: 1. Correct me, if Im wrong. But it's never a good choice to mount a monster with the hammer right? I can only deal 1 damage per hit because my hunter only strikes with his knife. 2. Why would anyone use the LBG over the HBG? Isn't the HBG like almost in every case the overall better weapon? 3. Also how do I increase my Hunter rank? Only with investigations? Thanks in advance.
Not sure if you already figured it out, but it's always good to mount the monster in order to take it down for a bit. Then you can proceed to wail on it with your hammer. I'd imagine the LBG plays differently in terms of how fast or accurate it shoots when compared to the HBG. It's all about damage per second. You increase your rank by doing optional quests/investigations and slaying the monster or capturing the monster for that quest.
ACG, please continue to do such great content. You swiftly became the first place I go to for reviews. The ranking system works well with my own mind (and eases the dent on my wallet). The reviews are well structured and consistent between games. Keep up the great work.
Nice review. I never played a MH but tried the beta and did not enjoy the game, it's pretty complicated and the core gameplay isn't for me but I know there is a passionate fan base for the game. Keep up the good work!
Love your reviews man. I’m a supporter of yours on Patreon too. Well worth the money to know that I can make an informed decision after watching your reviews. Keep it up!
ACG Im also wondering if you would be able to do a multiplayer tutorial/mini review. I don’t know if you’ve tried that aspect of the game yet but it is convoluted to say the least. A “How to” for this section would be greatly appreciated!
i just got the game yesterday and noticed a big issue.. i'm not sure if it's my ps4 controller or the game but there seems to bea huge delay in doing things.. like trying to use a antidote will sometimes have you character do nothing unless you hit the button several times... but its worse for trying to dodge attacks.. more often then not my character wouldn't stop attacking and dodge even though i was no longer hitting the attack button.. they just refused to stop and dodge
I hate that 3 great games are coming out so close together. This and Dragon Ball Fighterz come out on the same day and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT comes out a few days after those two.
In my opinion its only MHW thats the good game... both DBFz and Dissidia are more shallow now then ever when compared to their past counterparts sadly.
My gaming schedule will pretty much be: - Monster Hunter (Today) - Shadow of the Collosus (February) - Ni No Kuni (End of march) - God of War (April) Games like Red Dead Redemption or Code Vein do not have a release date yet but they deserve honorable mentions :D
I think the base needed a better tutorial. I found the bounties on my second day of play. On my third day of play which was when I was wrapping up the Zorah story arc I found the botanist and the meld station. Both of those would have really helped earlier in the game as melding to get items really helps especially for pill items. Still curious if I missed anything else in the base area.
I once killed a Rathian with the 99 stones I got from mining. It was anti-climatic and funny as fk. Great review man! I’ve been a big fan of the MH series and it’s cool to see your input on it. Well thought out and you nailed the points. Great video man!
I know in the beta whenever I wanted to select something in any of the wheels (favorites, weapons etc) it wouldn't be selected! Whenever I simply wanted to USE an item, I'd be force to scroll instead. Did they ever fix that?
i think the reason why a lot of the game seems like it has one foot in game design of a decade ago is because it's also supposed to appeal to long-time fans and therefore keeps mechanics that may seem odd to new players
No bullshit, no Micro transactions, no day one DLC, no buy to unlock nonsense. Huge fan of the game and if this feels like your bag you really need to buy and send the message that games like this done well and done for gaming fun an not to nickel and dime us as consumers can always use the support.
As a veteran Monster Hunter player I have never encouraged others to play this game. I LOVE this series and never get bored of the grind, but that's why I never recommend. Most game players I know do not like to grind. They want to spend $60 on an action game they can rush through, end, then take back for credit. Overall that's fine and I don't knock a player who chooses to play that way. I, however, want to know that my money isn't on a game I can crush in a week or 2. I enjoy repetitive hunts that grant me options to stronger weapons with visual flair. I like having the option to either hunt a beast or run around collecting materials for new armor sets. I enjoy taking the time to play with everything the game designers put in. I've never been a fan of the arena fights in MH but still appreciate they put the option in. Also, maybe im just use to the MH camera and hud but its never been an issue for me. Ive played many games with weird camera set ups and like always I adapt. In regards to combat I don't understand the comparison. Are people expecting a chain of dynasty warriors commands? I find the various set provided for the current MH weapons types to be fine. Then again, I did say im a MH vet. The series has never had a shortage of players and I still play the DS version with random parties all the time. Point to all this? If you don't like grinding stay away. Stick to the standard action game you can play straight and return. If you do enjoy grinds then welcome to the series. Hopefully we'll be hunting for Rathian armor together.
I'm a huge, insane MH fanatic and it's my favorite series by far. Been playing since the PS2 days. That being said, I feel this review is fair. MH World is basically the perfect game...for me (and many others), but it certainly is not the perfect game for everyone. I almost would call Monster Hunter more of a hobby than a game. You aren't going to pick this game up on a whim, sit down after a long day, and be able to have fun right away. What you will get is an incredibly rewarding and deep experience, if you are interested in investing the time. That is not what everyone wants out of a game and that is okay. But if you are looking for something to really sink your teeth into, I can't recommend anything more highly than Monster Hunter.
You are the man Karak. No hyperbole, needless political commentary, or pure obnoxiousness that plague other reviewers. The amount of research and time you put onto these is great!
it's still the same whether you craft things or get them crafted, you kill stuff so you can get better gear so you can kill stronger stuff. and yes, that is the basic premise of most (if not all) mmos, rpgs, etc.
Yes, this is definitely, a BUY. I think what separates this game from others is the atmosphere of the game. That is also an important factor which separates it from other ARPGs.
luv yur reviews I wnt buy something new until listening to u, u make making the decision easy with your honest reviews of titles I'm considering. thank you ACG
Already pre ordered. It was a toss up between this and dragonball, but I do enjoy coop games more than I do pvp with the exception of some games. I enjoy the soulsborne games and horizon zero dawn mainly for their crazy monster fights, so I'm hoping I'll enjoy this.
It's not deficiencies, but working hard not to put off the core MH crowd that was worried this game would be too accessible. Again, great review as always!!!!
jay jayson you don't pay too much attention to resident evil I assume?their doing an hd remake of resident evil 2.....id have preferred just a remaster as I like the tank controls but regardless thought I'd let you know
as a noob can i start off with that bow gun? i tried the lance in beta and got rekt so i might try out something else in the beginning when im learning.
Good review, repetitive is not bad to me but those timers.... ugh I'll probably continue passing on this until deep deep discount. I just hate timer's they're useless.
Joshua Howell dude you get 50 mins on the timer and it takes about 20 max to kill a monster, even if its a super brutal one. I've never had a problem with the timer, even with certain investigations making the timer shorter as an added challenge (completely optional to do) I've still never had a problem with it. It's a great game and timers are probably the stupidest reason for you not to play it
The timer is there solely to tell if you if your current damage is working out. Needing 50 minutes to kill a monster is a little much, especially when there're a few 5 monster hunts that give the same amount.
First time ever watching one of your videos. Your vocals and audio are crisp, and you articulate very well. In a review, I always look for the counterpoint. I came to the video understanding what I might like, what's bad about the game? You reviewed in a very fair, unbiased manner giving clear examples of the good and the bad with an excellent bottom line. Enough detail to be engaging but not boring, and you made great points. Thank you for the hard work. It really helps my decision.
I tried doing multiplayer (on PSN) I ended up with a team consisting of one japanese woman, a chinese man, a Irish Man, and me from the good old US of A....to say the least it was an interesting match.

Good to see ACG beat all the mainstream coverage, hopefully the channel gains even more traction.

Gooselord Prime shit u still better get a ps4 for the sick exclusives

You know, you're right. I'm selfish and only care about getting good gear from Diablos. :(
Gaming Phalanx how am I going "fit" in if I don't have diablos armor?!?!
Blamelouis some of the monsters threaten the ecosystem though like elder dragons

FUCK YOU JUSTIN! Get outta town before Sheriff Woody fucks you up.

After playing the franchise for about 13 years, I realized that I am no longer the hunter, I am the monster.

Great Review Karak. Waiting for the PC Version.
BeatmasterAC same here bro
Same :(((((
Far worth the wait as that's the only version that will do 60fps.
I'm actually tempted to buy a ps4 now
Why the disappointment? The wait means they're actually putting in the effort to make the PC version actually good for once. Not to mention the highest the PS4 version will go, even on the PS4 Pro, is 40fps.
Watching this while playing Monster hunter world. Why do I always watch ACG reviews after I bought the game?
Yours is the only review that matters to me personally. Most other big sites like ign only give 2-5 minute reviews which feel more like summaries of the game. I don't want to watch someone saying yeah this game is about killing monsters. 3/5. thanks pratt
Whenever I need an in depth review, ACG is always my Go-to. This game is on sale on steam, right now lolz
Good review, super detailed as always
thanks. Though I know something like this. Probably not up your alley though right?
ACG it looks good! However the grinding aspect u discussed def turns me off.
Hey Solid rev . You are everywhere
I thought this was some multiplayer only crap. I saw Jimmy from lotsofgames talk about it and found out it was actually still single player (with co-op if you want). I ordered it today. It was on sale for ps4 on Amazon.ca. i only played a bit of the first on PS2. It was fun.
the review I've been waiting for I love your reviews
thanks spread the word!
ive never played the past titles but will try this one
You guys are in for a treat.
mark jacinto it has a steep learning curve but once it clicks with you, you'll love it.
You’ll love it first game where i actually felt addicted, back in my psp days i remember feeling my heart racing as time trickled down and was on mu last life, and i took down the tigrex, ill never forget it.
This game is a blast, it takes patience and skill
hey man you might want to look for adopt-a-hunter (look it up) movement. it's an initiative made by MH communities to pair up a long time fan (Veterans) to those who only picked up the game (Novice). the aim is for the vets to "guide" the novices in terms of game mechanics and lore of the game so that you won't feel overwhelmed.
Great review as usual.
I look forward to getting this on PC.
Don't worry, you only have to wait about...hmmmm....One Billions Years!!
You'll be waiting for awhile bub. lol
its a long wait. i think like over 5-6 months. which fkn sucks
Worth the wait. PCMASTERRACE
LOL. "PC Last To Play Race" aka "PC Beggar race" aka "change.org".
fun, complex, cumbersome and repetitive? yeah, that sums up monhun perfectly, great review as always!
thanks!
Great review, and I wanna add something to the "repetitive" thing. :)
Even if you do the same thing over and over again, it feels never quite boring, cause the gameplay is as good and challenging as in "Dark Souls".
It's really good game i played the beta too but i will skip it's just not my game style but that doesn't mean the game is bad hope you have a great time with it
Waleed Jangeez more people need your attitude when it comes to gaming.
Look! A unicorn!
My friend told me right off the bat this game was going to be grindy, but I don’t mind the grind when the gameplay itself is extremely fun and rewarding, taking down these hulking beasts within the 20 minute timeframe of the beta hunts was a rush every time, I’m extremely excited to play this tomorrow
you'll get to the point where you can down beasts around 5 to 10 mins which is rewarding on its own.
ACG: Best games reviewer on the planet. Thanks dude. Dunno why it even has 351 dislikes, stupid people to dislike someones opinion.
Great review. And now, if they'd just use this same engine for a Dragon's Dogma sequel...
Purgatori Sakkara it's MT Frameworks, it's the same engine they used for Dragon's Dogma actually just a newer version for the current gens.
The developer of Dragons Dogma is working on a new game, they said about it on their twitter.
Speaking of engine. What happened to panta rhei engine? That one looks way better than MT framework engine.
It seems to have shared a similar fate to Deep Down.
Awoken Genius the new game could just be another DMC
The funny quips is one of the big reasons I was waiting for this review from you lol.
Long time fan of the series here.
Thanks for your fair review, Karak
Reminds me of Lost Planet meets Jurrassic Park.
+ACG
How many character slots? (Dad and Son want to play)
What age for children would be appropriate to play and watch?
How many hours for recreational player? (Will not power game - thinking long term)
4 at least saves
the game is rated T. there isnt exactly blood splattering or swearing. some monsters have tails you can cut off but thats it in terms of gore.
as for hours, i would say this is a good game for a casual player who wants a long game. if yout ake your time to do side quests and gather materials, this game will last you a while. plus the devs are going to add free content updates bringing stuff like new monsters.
Michael Pelton can confirm FPS issues are still very present.
Can you player single player? Or is it only co-op? I have no friends.
Motivation For Life full game can be completed in solo and in co op
not only does it have single player, but you can do all of the multiplayer quests by yourself if you want. they are more difficult however. but if you're worried about not having anyone to play with, you could always use the official monster hunter discord to find a group.
Motivation For Life me either!!!!
you can and usually there are exclusive gear that you can only get in solo or only in multi player. but the game is way more fun multiplayer just join random games. the mh community isnt like most other online communities. we love helping out noobs (it gives us a chance to show off!!) plus you learn way more playing with other players, like when yo throw flash bombs or set up traps.
Geminion Ray wrong, rhe fame is more difficult with players. The monsters health increases the more players you have, also their body parts require more dmg before they drop. Solo versus 4 man the monster has 5x more health
I got 3 questions:
I appreciate your reviews a lot! Just today I went back to your Dragon's Dogma review before purchase. Thanks!
thanks!
I'm a huge monster hunter fan and have been for years, but I can honestly say that this review was incredibly fair and well reasoned. Well done
ACG, please continue to do such great content. You swiftly became the first place I go to for reviews. The ranking system works well with my own mind (and eases the dent on my wallet). The reviews are well structured and consistent between games. Keep up the great work.
Hooray there was an ad on your video Karak!!
Yo Karek, are you going to review "Kingdom Come: Deliverance"?
Nice review. I never played a MH but tried the beta and did not enjoy the game, it's pretty complicated and the core gameplay isn't for me but I know there is a passionate fan base for the game. Keep up the good work!
I already preordered it, just watching this video for fun.
"Thw world is so dangerous that chicks probably give birth in gunshops here"
Ok. That cracked me up.
Less than 24 hrs to go boiz! The hype is real!!!
Trey2Da 12 in the uk! I'm so ready and exited!
It's already out in Southeast Asia. lol
Only 4 hrs here 😍
Can’t wait! 12 more hours!
Yep this game will take our souls , there goes my sleep and social life for the next couple of months
Are their different Versions of each weapon. Or do you just upgrade the starting weapon
wohoo thanks karak i was waiting for your review :D
Followed you because of Skill Up's video. Liking the reviews so far.
amazing review... think imma wait a bit on this one until some updates, patches and new ish things have been added
Love your reviews man. I’m a supporter of yours on Patreon too. Well worth the money to know that I can make an informed decision after watching your reviews. Keep it up!
thank you
ACG Im also wondering if you would be able to do a multiplayer tutorial/mini review. I don’t know if you’ve tried that aspect of the game yet but it is convoluted to say the least. A “How to” for this section would be greatly appreciated!
Compared to what we've been getting from the industry for the past year. This game is an all you can eat buffet!
i just got the game yesterday and noticed a big issue.. i'm not sure if it's my ps4 controller or the game but there seems to bea huge delay in doing things.. like trying to use a antidote will sometimes have you character do nothing unless you hit the button several times... but its worse for trying to dodge attacks.. more often then not my character wouldn't stop attacking and dodge even though i was no longer hitting the attack button.. they just refused to stop and dodge
I hate that 3 great games are coming out so close together. This and Dragon Ball Fighterz come out on the same day and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT comes out a few days after those two.
You can't know if they're great until they're out.
Yeah, I fear Dissidia might get overlooked since MH and DB Fighterz seems to be getting all the hype.
In my opinion its only MHW thats the good game... both DBFz and Dissidia are more shallow now then ever when compared to their past counterparts sadly.
Another reason why I purchases MH on Xbox. Now my PS4 will be dedicated to Dissidia for a few months
My gaming schedule will pretty much be:
- Monster Hunter (Today)
- Shadow of the Collosus (February)
- Ni No Kuni (End of march)
- God of War (April)
Games like Red Dead Redemption or Code Vein do not have a release date yet but they deserve honorable mentions :D
Before I even watch this one, I want to say that I trust your reviews more than any others.
Great review ACG! Your videos are the first thing I look forward to when deciding what games I may be interested in buying. Thanks!
thanks
I always look forward to watching your reviews ACG! Thank you!
Hopefully we'll be hunting for Rathian armor together.
not even a MH fan, but Jesus am i looking foreward to this game...probably more than any other game since 2016.
enjoy
Kalas82 great decision, once u become a fan, u will never get tired of this game
Bonus points from an old gamer for the Marlin Perkins and Mutual of Omaha references at the start.
But if you are looking for something to really sink your teeth into, I can't recommend anything more highly than Monster Hunter.
thats true about it being a hobby
You are the man Karak. No hyperbole, needless political commentary, or pure obnoxiousness that plague other reviewers. The amount of research and time you put onto these is great!
Another top tier review from a top tier reviewer!👍
thanks beast
Keep the great reviews coming man, I always watch them before a purchase.
it isn't like diablo, yes it is repetitive, but the gameplay is why people play this game for 1000s hours!
Igor Tudoran he's talking about killing stuff making your weapons stronger then go kill stronger monsters. That's what Diablo is and that's what MH is
sage798 from that point of view every rpg is like that ;)
diablo isnt mechanically complex and immersive as monster hunter
I hated how he compared it to diablo as well you craft weapons and armor in monster hunter. You loot already made weapons/armor in diablo.
it's still the same whether you craft things or get them crafted, you kill stuff so you can get better gear so you can kill stronger stuff. and yes, that is the basic premise of most (if not all) mmos, rpgs, etc.
First time getting into this. Cant wait.
Will you do an updated review for PC later on?
Yes, this is definitely, a BUY. I think what separates this game from others is the atmosphere of the game. That is also an important factor which separates it from other ARPGs.
Did you use a ps4 pro or just the regular one?
Been looking forward to this game, and your review almost as much. Thanks for a great review, as usual!
Karak, thank you for those videos you are bringing!
Upvoted - like almost always. Thank you for your sincere reviews!
thank you
i will buy it in autumn :(
great review btw i like the honesty not like other sponsored bullcrap
luv yur reviews I wnt buy something new until listening to u, u make making the decision easy with your honest reviews of titles I'm considering. thank you ACG
you bet!
Already pre ordered.
It was a toss up between this and dragonball, but I do enjoy coop games more than I do pvp with the exception of some games.
I enjoy the soulsborne games and horizon zero dawn mainly for their crazy monster fights, so I'm hoping I'll enjoy this.
Same I chose this over Dragon ball fighterz i love the monster hunter series
It's not deficiencies, but working hard not to put off the core MH crowd that was worried this game would be too accessible.
Again, great review as always!!!!
Capcom is starting things right in 2018 with SFVAE and now MH. I won't be surprised that this game will be more fun to play with friends than Anthem.
danielcwc Imagine if we got a Resident Evil 2 Remaster as well? I agree, Capcom seems to finally get it.
I hope they will have a new IP too. Or a new fighter.
jay jayson you don't pay too much attention to resident evil I assume?their doing an hd remake of resident evil 2.....id have preferred just a remaster as I like the tank controls but regardless thought I'd let you know
Wouldn't be surprised if bioware dies with anthem because of the EA logo of death stamped on it
Fun to play with friends if you can find a quest that it will let you
Waiting for PC version, but man, it looks fun. Always happy to find a game I'm looking forward to get the ACG thumbs up. Thanks!
Thank you notification.
as a noob can i start off with that bow gun? i tried the lance in beta and got rekt so i might try out something else in the beginning when im learning.
you have access to all 14 weapons at the very beginning as well as a training area.
Mr Snigglton FTW
he is my personal hero
Do i need ps+ to enjoy the game or solo is doable with not to many drawback?
Itachi Darth MH has always been enjoyable solo or with people. Should be fine.
It's a great game and timers are probably the stupidest reason for you not to play it
i kill the lat dragons in 4-6 mins and you have 15 mins to clear,at that time you become good enough to hunt sub 10 for sure.
If you Need 50 mins for a monster then honestly ? Dont bother buying this
The timer is there solely to tell if you if your current damage is working out.
It really helps my decision.
thanks!
