Growing up, we used gooseneck trailers instead of pot bellies. Exact same process in West Texas as y'all use. Have you tried using a lead sheep or goat on your lambs? My lead sheep is worth his weight in gold.
Usually our lambs run off pretty decent and we only haul them this way once and then they are gone! More trouble than it’s worth keeping a lead sheep around! But I’m sure it would work good!
