You may need protein. Water is hydration. Why would you only hydrate the hair once a month? When all the nstursl channels preach "moisture" "hydration"??? Its weird to me. Can you grow hair washing once every month. I guess. Is it also counter intuitive YES. You cant preach hydration and wash once a month.
I love this I wash my hair monthly. My hair type is low porosity fine strands medium density, and I have 4b hair. I do not produce a lot of sebum. My hair does not smell and sometimes I even go longer than a month before I wash my hair so me and you are in the same boat. It’s not for everyone. People are just ridiculous. They just need to do them and what is right for them and that’s it.
I’m confused with my hair. I’m low porosity one wash day and high porosity another. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m 3c 4a med density with med sebum production. My scalp loves wash day but my hair does not so I have been finding ways to keep my scalp clean in between wash days which is every two weeks. I’m working my way towards monthly washes. When I wore perms, I washed every three months
@@ebonywatson9939 hey sis. What makes you think you Mr porosity changes? In your case I can see there is proof that your scalp adapts to what we do/treat it❤️
@@CoilyDiaries because I’m having trouble finding my hair porosity so I do the water test every wash day and it was low for a couple washes then this past wash day it showed high. It’s different more so than the same. I make sure the hair is clean, product free and dry so that’s why I’m confused
AMEN Sista!! TY for this video! I ❤ this topic!! Natural hair is sooo unique. There is no 1 size/routine fits all. The key is to learn what your hair needs, what it responds best too and then repeat regularly!! This is what I call “ natural hair journey”. I used to wash every 2 weeks because I enjoy the pampering of myself. But when life gets too busy, I wash when my SCALP needs washing. I condition my hair when it needs it. I’ve learned how to “ listen” to what my hair needs. It can vary depending upon the season, stress levels, life etc… Recently I’ve moved to every 3-4 weeks to shampoo, but I apply moisture or protein treatments when needed and my hair is thriving. I let go of trying to strictly follow utubers but now use you guys as a platform to learn what benefits different ingredients or products provide and then formulate what my hair particularly needs. TY again for this video!!❤
I have started a monthly (sometimes, up to a month and a half) wash day routine, and it was by mistake, actually. I was washing my hair every two weeks but my scalp, especially in the crown area, was constantly itching. Well, as you know, life happens, I was busy with work and ended up washing my hair, almost two months later. My scalp does not produce much sebum. I did not have dandruff….and my hair, I noticed was NOT itching. There was also significant hair growth, especially in my troubled spots. Long story, short-the less I mess with my hair, the better it is for my scalp and hair health. Thank you for this much needed video.
When I did my big chop I had less than 1 inch and did W&G’s regularly. As my hair grew, I found it difficult to prevent breakage from over manipulation and transitioned to protective styles. Then, I redid my hair 2times a month. As I grew more I moved to monthly redos. I have too much hair to do weekly. You are spot on with this!❤❤
I noticed the most retention from growth during the lockdown was when I did 2 strands twist and left in for a month b4 shampooing. Sometimes I'd Cowash then 2 weeks later Shampoo then waited a month again for Shampooing.
I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with such rude responses. Learning that I coukd stretch out my wash days, has seriously improved the health of my hair as well as given me more time in the week, so thank you and please keep doing what you’re doing 💜 Also I don’t wash every week and get complimented on the way my hair smells - can’t believe they think it’s propaganda 😂
Before I got my sisterlocks, I washed my hair on average every 6-8 weeks when I changed my crochet braids. I had no issues with itchy scalp or dryness or smelly hair. In the summer I shampoo more because I swim and don't want chlorine sitting in my hair. I also washed it when I sweat alot. I wash weekly now sometimes with my locs because I really enjoy it not because I have to. I couldn't fathom washing my loose natural hair weekly. I agree with this video so much. Encouraging people to just do them while sharing what has worked for you is what I am here for. Every person has a right to their own beauty routine. This is not one size fits all.
Keep dropping those pearls of wisdom. I don't pay attention to or engage with the keyboard warriors. I'm normally a weekly washer for all the reasons you stated. I have stretched it to 2 weeks, like right now. I'm older and grew up washing every 2 weeks. I wasn't exercising or having hot flashes back then 🙂. We used Wella Balsam shampoo and rinse out conditioner religiously. Afro Sheen was our household staple. Our hair was pressed and braided/twisted. We oiled our scalp a couple times a week. We rarely ever wore our hair loose.
In this life, just do what works for you. People will always talk no matter what you do. As for me , my hair is low porosity and I use both oils and grease in my hair and I workout a lot, so I wash my hair every week but in winter it every two weeks. In the past, before I became natural, I used to keep my hair for two months straight no washing it but since I became natural, I can’t even keep my hair for that long without washing it. I just feel uncomfortable if I leave my hair that long. Thank sis.
This is so true, i have washed my hair weekly for most of my life (my scalp likes that). but my hair never thrived. I have 4c hair and noticed washing once or twice a month is so much better for my hair as long as i dont let my hair dry out in between washes. Sadly i see a lot of professional pages that promote washing your hair as much as possible to "grow" your hair. That might work for other textures but if you have the very kinly fine stranded 4c hair, it will stunt the length retention. The 4c girls who had long hair like bra strap or waistlength and beyond they washed every 2-4 weeks.
Amen…Amen…Amen Sister. I agree with everything you have said here. It is wonderful to hear. If God saw fit to make every snowflake different, how much more is every human being different. There is no “one size fits all” in ANY community. God has given us free choice AND common sense. I never have subscribed to cliques or teams that put themselves above others. No thank you. As you said, support each other. Truth is that society has put African hair as low priority, so we have had to learn on our own. I am with you, Lovely Sister. God bless your help and advice on this precious and wonderful channel. You are intelligent and kind, and I am learning so much from you, even though you could be my Granddaughter. LOL Merry Christmas with love and blessings to you and your family.
awwww! woke up to this sweet comment. I really appreciate your warm words of encouragement. let’s stick together as women of color. I realise a few of my subscribers are older mature women and it makes me nervous because I have so much respect for my elders and I know you have lots of life experience and wisdom yet you take in mine. humbling🌺… blessings to you and your and Merry Christmas 🎄
I had dreadlocks for 23 years. They were full and I had to cut off about 4 inches every 6 months to keep them at brastrap length, which was my preferred length. I washed my hair at varying frequencies depending on life/location. In Bali, where the water had no chlorine in tap water and the air is always humid, I could wash my hair every 3 months. No problem. My hair was strong, moist, flexible, thick, just perfect. My sebum protected my hair. Then back in the US I wound up having to wash every 4-5 weeks in order to keep my hair healthy. The air was dry and even the tap water was drying. So hydrating led to drying, not moisturizing. Putting products on just layered on top of the hard minerals from the water and dried out further in the dry air. Now that I have combed out my dreadlocks (and cut my hair) I find it works best for me to shampoo every 1-2 weeks, depending on how I'm wearing my hair and what the weather is like. Ultimately I think the thing is to have a relationship with your hair, a healthy one with good 'communication' where you listen to your hair and respond appropriately instead of following a set script no matter what.
well said! you are a great example of listen to your hair and what it needs. 3months to weekly washing is insane but your hair thrived because you gave it what it needed. how did you scalp cope with these deferent routines?
@@CoilyDiaries A lot of it was scalp health. I say I listened to what my hair needed, but really it was a combo. I wanted my scalp not to itch (much) and my hair to not be brittle. So I kept adjusting to my situation to achieve both aims. I didn't need to oil my scalp when I was going longer without washing, but do need to now that I'm down under a month.
Hi. Thanks for the incredibly informative video as usual. I decided to start washing my hair every three months (start of a new season basically). I find there's such symbolism in that (new season, clean scalp). Anyway, this works for me as I am a braided natural (access to the scalp, better moisture retention and all that). I'm so grateful to have found your channel and those of other like-minded naturals. You guys are doing great work with helping us retain length guaranteed! You're appreciated.
@@CoilyDiaries My sebum production is quite minimal, so it takes a while for my scalp to get dirty and flaky. I also keep my moisturising products to maximum two products' a lightweight moisturiser and sealant, so my hair stays less greasy for longer. But honestly, three months is the longest I will ever go without washing my hair. It's a true sweet spot for me.
I used to wash my hair weekly for about 6 months, maintained moisture really well, was always in twists so not much manipulation but when I started watching your channel, I switched back to once a month. No itch, no flake. When it gets really hot I'll wash twice a month but thats happened once or twice. I find that in the week after wash day, my hair stays moisturised all week. By week 2 and 3 I'll moisturise twice a week....to avoid dryness. By week 4, moisture doesnt last as long, but its ok coz wash day will be a few days away. I dont think I could go past 4 weeks.....mainly coz I really enjoy wash day.
Your makeup looks so pretty in this video! I wouldn't mind a small addition to the hair content in the form of some makeup looks. 👀 It's just occurred to me that I've NEVER seen someone say that not washing hair for 2-4 weeks is unhygienic when someone is trying to stretch a silk press or living the straight natural life. 🤔 I'm pretty sure Natural Reign got her hair pretty long with just wngs AND colouring it. Kayla from What the Kink also has WL hair and usually does WnGs. So it's definitely possible! (It's not the life for me though.) There are LOTS of ladies with long hair who don't wash every week. Like you said, on the long hair care forum/community (I think there's two, one for mostly ladies with curly hair, and one for anybody of any gender/nationality with long hair) there are quite a few people invested in alternative ways of cleaning hair. Also, I think the rise of the silk press contributes, as using a flat iron on hair with lots of products can destroy your hair, so getting it squeaky clean with shampoo first is imperative. Not an issue if you stay away from heat. I'm impressed that you have the time to film, edit, and release these videos everyday for us!!!! 💯 Girl BYE! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ❤️
Will check those ladies out! If there was an award to a star commenter/subscriber this year, it would be you ❤️. Well versed and knowledgeable constructive and polite. I have seen you comment under other videos I have watched! Thanks for your non biased contribution. Girl byeeee🤣🤣🤣🤣💃🏽 I batch film sometimes to be able to have a few ready to go at a time! About make up girl am clueless. I get surprised when it ties out good 😜🙈
I like going about 2 weeks but I'm a lazy natural so I've gone about a month on several occasions. When I have braids I go 8 weeks. After 8 weeks though my hair starts to loc sometimes at 7 weeks. Outside of braids I get horrible matting past 4 weeks so I try to not go past a months. But not one routine works for everyone. High porosity can sometimes be more sensitive and have to leave the hair alone for awhile. Then there is fine hair that needs less manipulation, that includes shampooing. Just do what works for you, it's trial and error.
I’m going to take your advice, from a previous video, “tell the whole truth”. I told you that I was a Fitness instructor, and I could not possibly extend my shampoo beyond a week…because of excess sweat. What I failed to mention…after I had back surgery, my scalp/head does not produce nearly as much sweat. 🤷🏽♀️ I think I can get away with extending. Like you suggested, I will start slow, trying every 2 weeks. I contemplated this decision two days ago. I prayed for clarification whether to do it or not and how to do it effectively. THIS VIDEO IS RIGHT ON TIME!!!!!
I hope you find the trial of extending the time between wash days beneficial. I will tell you that up until the September 2022 I was a weekly hair washer. I started extending the time in increments and I’m up to 3 months, which is where I’ll remain. That is not for everyone, but I can tell you that for me, my scalp FEELS BETTER than it did washing it weekly. My strands are thriving and I got a lot of my time back. Wishing you well on your hair journey. 🌸
Wow! Love the brutal honesty! Sis if you try it and it doesn’t work, that’s ok but I think 2 weeks might be a sweet spot for your lifestyle while implementing some other techniques. Love your decision making process! God cares even about our hair! Now, sis how to lose postpartum weight😭🙆🏽♀️???
@CoilyDiaries Mostly with a tea tree oil and black seed oil mixed with a water spritz. At least once I’ll rub a little black soap with water on my scalp. I keep my hair in corn rows and plaits 99% of the time underneath a cute headscarf. ☺️🌸
If you want long hair don’t wash your hair frequently to minimise manipulation. If you want to be clean, wash your hair frequently. It’s that simple. And it’s your choice. Don’t worry about what other people do.
I’ve noticed that most black women with long, healthy, natural hair don’t wash their hair weekly. There is nothing wrong with that. As long as you keep your scalp clean and your hair moisturized.
I wholeheartedly agree with you regarding the frequency of shampooing your hair. I find it quite offensive to engage in such immature behavior with regards to other folks hair practices. I noticed some of the women you featured from UA-cam. I have watched those women as well and I have learned so much from them all. I do remember watching a live stream of Indigenous Strands and someone questioned her about her infrequent hair washing. They went on to ask if her hair smelled. I admired how she answered back. Her answer was quite informative. You are absolutely right about the propaganda regarding commercialized products. Its all about marketing and profit margins. I believe we all find what works for us and share the information because its possible it might work for others. I really love your channel and I think you are a beautiful sister and a kindred spirit. Take care and wishing you and your family God's speed. 💜💜💜
Thanks for your comment! I couldn’t agree more! constructive communication is a skill and a sign of maturity. being polite Is also a virtue and I’d love to see more of us interact at this level. Blessings to you and yours too🌺❤️❤️
Wonderful video from a beautiful lady with a kind, Christ-like spirit!!!🙏🏽🙌🏽Continue to spread truth lovingly and do not let uncouth, ridiculously rude people with no life try to kill the joy in yours. It is so disconcerting to learn of all the nonsensical hate you’ve received. But, it is not your problem, it’s theirs! Continue deleting ugly comments and continue doing you! They’re probably jealous of you. I pray that one day we’ll be more quick to love, support & respect one another versus being so quick to judge, tear down and humiliate/disrespect each other. We get enough of that from those who don’t look like us. It’s so much easier to be kind & loving. So, my beautiful sister, keep doing what you’re doing! You & your hair are gorgeous!!! Merry Christmas! 🙏🏽😘🎉🎄
this is so uplifting. thanks sis🌺 I trully appreciate it. your words will keep me going. it truly takes the life out of you when people just can’t be polite or kind. it’s almost like I did something terrible to them😏. love and blessings to you and your family 🥰
I have straight hair but I’ve been watching black women’s videos on hair care for a while now, UA-cam recommended them to me after watching ‘why is my hair so dry?’ videos and I’ve learned a lot. Many diy’s don’t go with my hair but the general attention and careful way of managing it has helped me have it longer and healthier than ever before, like I said some diy’s don’t go but others do very well for me. Recently I’ve been getting ads where hair care companies mock diy’s or alternative ways of caring for hair, I understand experimenting with your hair can be bad but companies have in the past sold dangerous products for all kinds of things and then after giving a bunch of people cancer they pay a fee and throw it under the rug while saying they have experts on their side, stuff from perms to baby powder. Maybe there should be an anti ad for all the shit companies sell/ have sold to have people lighten their skin, bleach or perm their hair, lose weight, to show how this people don’t have your best interests and you should take what works for you natural or not. They are the ones who pay and conduct research for hair too, how could they not be biased?
These companies don't have our interest at heart. Just learnt recently that some hair products are the reason some women got cancer. 😢 So sad. Thus I decided to go natural. And it's my best choice.
I started to wash my hair wekly because I saw a lot of video about water being the best way to moisturise your hair. And layering leave in conditioner and oil/butter/grease week after week is counterproductive. Well... Now i have split ends everywhere.... Even midshaft splits. I think that once a week is too much manipulation for me. So I think I will go back to once every 3/4 weeks 😢. I just have to figure out how to properly moisturise my hair in braids (the best protective style for me)
Hi Missy, she the board dermatologist is right it depends on your lifestyle if you are a person who works out exercise on it almost on a daily or at least five days a week you need to be washing your hair more often to get rid of the sweat and all the chemicals that excreting out from the scalp this is why she said More frequent washing but with dryer hair textures a minimum of one week due to working out or exercising to sweat. I have to wash my hair at least every 10 days or so because I do work out but when I sweat for some reason my scalp is OK but I know that I’ve been sweating so people who are athletic and go to the gym and sweat or just work out from home exercise from home they are the ones that need frequent washing of your hair perhaps not even perhaps you have to wash your entire body because of the sweat glands that have excreted all the toxins fromworking out I just wanted to include this and your talk about washing hair because if you are a person who is physically active, you need to cleanse your entire body more often and that’s including your hair. Enjoy your video.
Very informative video! I actually learned a few things. That is rare these days. No wonder straight haired people brush their hair a lot. I have seen some of their videos where they don't shampoo at all or often and how much healthier their hair is. I am working on stretching my wash days. I am honestly sick of washing once a week! It has worked for me for so long, but I have realized that my hair feels so moisturized well after day 7 that I often don't even want to wash because the definition is also still there! So at most I can do right now is 10 days, because I do workout a LOT and my scalp gets to itching. But I'm even working on finding solutions for THAT. The middle part of my hair is waist length, and now I want all of my hair to be there and increase thickness. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for this information. I wash my hair every two weeks, but I would like to wash every month. When I do twist and leave it for a month, my scalp was not itching . I felt I could go longer but thought I was doing harm to my hair. Thank You! Soooo Much
I have heard and have been told by professional natural hair care stylists that itchness indicates that hair is growing or is usually in growth spots. How true is this? My hair seems to become itchy after washing and oiling my hair, moreso than earlier on my natural hair journey. When I wash my hair depends on the level of itchiness. Sometimes when my hair is itchy, it is my hair telling me it is dry and needs more moisture. Other times I am trying to figure out what is causing this itchiness. I do drink lots of water as well and eat lots of fresh fruits to support my hair health and overall wellness. I also follow a plant-based diet. However I do try to go prolonged periods without washing my hair and wash my hair in protective styles with an Aussie shampoo followed by a clarifying plant-based shampoo.
I started my hair journey on the 28 September 2022 with 3 cm hair long, I do weekly wash until my journey was a year old and my hair length was to 💄 lip then I started washing my hair twice a month and my hair is close to my chin won within one year two months and two weeks ❤
I said this a long time ago. My mom was a wig person, she would wash her hair once a month, grease her scalp and braid her up and back to wigs. And her hair would be down her back again after cutting it off.
This was very informative I will definitely check out your other videos . I am one for if it works for that person keep doing you . I am weekly washer for the reasons u stated . But I’m also a new natural I’m going into my fourth year. And I would say I’ve learned a lot and definitely have had to make changes . And I know there are things I have to improve on . But I think it’s great if someone doesn’t have to wash their hair weekly and they can go two weeks , once a month . And I agree we should help each other . Lol if it wasn’t UA-cam university, I probably wouldn’t be a natural and have no idea how to take care of my hair.
Thank you very much for your video. I usually wash my hair fortnight in the summer due to sweating more etc. In winter i try to stretch it to every three weeks. I usually wear hats/headscarves in the winter. I have low porosity hair and wear protective stying 90% of the time. Detangling after taking my twists out is a breeze. ❤
My hair is almost to my waist. It is past my bra strap Iv been trying to go longer and longer without washing hair. The longest I have gone is 14 days and I would like to go longer. I also use bore brushes and Wood combs and make my own hair oil to help maintain my scalp and breakup the sebum . I love your videos.
Just call me willing❤ i was a weekly washer my whole life, i swiched to 2wks about 6 months ago. My goal is to getcto once a month, i am looking for length retention. My scalp iches alot and it's mental for me. Thanks for the advice ivwill be looking into some videos about this topic.
I saw your video about boar bristle brushes yesterday when I got one. It's only been a day but my hair feels really conditioned and smooth but not greasy. So glad I went down an old timey hair care rabbithole. I have really thick, fine blond hair, and it's short. I don't know how often I should wash my hair, but I'll take your word on what works for you. Your hair looks great.
I have type 2, fine hair. I can't wash it every day. In Summer, I wash it every three or four days, depending on the sweating. In Winter, I wash it only once a week because my scalp is dryer. 😊
I been washing my hair every week until I realised it doesn't work I tried every two weeks and because my hair strand is very thin that much manipulation to my hair was not good so I find it best and that my hair grows more and brake less when I wash every three weeks to a month or somtimes a little over a month that's what works for me and now my hair is growing
Smh people are just judgemental. Good thing I've never been the one who cared what people say, lol. I have always washed my daughter's hair once a month. She's 4 now, and I've been doing it since she actually started having a full head of hair. Her hair is perfectly fine, with no itchiness or smell. For me, however, I wash my hair every two weeks, but that's only because I've put edge control or too many products in it. However, now that I'm on my healthy hair journey and trying to retain length, I'm jumping on the wagon with what I do with my daughter's hair. We both will now be wearing our natural hair in twist till i can't even say when, lol. I love my twist because of the simplicity, and it allows me to just let my hair be. Honestly, we both have 3 textures in our hair, yes 3, lol . It just naturally grows that way. We have type 4A/B/C textures in our hair, lol. Our hair does not like to be bothered. I notice our hair will actually grow, reatain length, and not break when I leave our hair alone. As soon as I start all the manipulation, it's always a recipe for disaster. We are going simple and sweet for 2024, lol. ❤❤. I love your videos. I quickly subscribed. You have some awesome content and very helpful tips. Thank you!!
Hello, just found out your channel and i love your videos! I was wondering what was your opinion about clip ins? Im currently doing the twist challenge (keeping my hair mostly in twists for at least a month. But i go to the gym and my scalp is itchy after a week. Can i start wearing cornrows instaed and use clip ins to change the style from time to time? I used to use clip ins but they can be a bit harsh on the scalp. What is your opinion on it? Thanks
I like watching your videos over and over and when I watched this one again it just came to me that when we French braid our hair it’s about a month or two before we wash it again so I never thought about it being non-hygienic that’s just the way we do when we braid our hair for one thing it takes too long to braid just to take it right back out unless it’s braided too tight love your content
I mostly wear braids so I cant wash my hair weekly or the style wouldn’t last long. I wash my braids monthly or if my scalp is itchy. Everyone has a different routine and does what works for them so I understand the big fuss
21:00 I had ~18 inches of hair that i combed out from locs and as soon as I started wash and gos my hair started getting shorter and shorter the gels i think were doing a bit much... so youre right ive never seen successful growth or length retention doing just wash and gos
Well I was washing my hair every week because it was short it took no time at all but now that my hair is longer I am getting tried I planning to start washing my locs every 3 weeks I don’t produce much sebum on my scalp so I can even get away with not washing for 2 months
Also, I believe the Wash n Go Team decided No oils No Butters. But that does not Fly with others, especially you, me and thousands of Kinky Coily’s WHO Do Not do Wash n Go’s!!❤❤❤
As a former relaxer, I would go as long as a month without washing my hair. Either because my schedule is hectic or I feel my hair is thriving and isn't packed with product. But I do take time to analyze and get it done.
I think the issue of frequency is getting overly complicated. Wash your hair when your hair and / or your scalp is dirty. Doesn't this make sense? That's what I do and the frequency varies. I also wash my hair when it's NOT DIRTY but extremely dry.
Great that you have figured out what works for you. washing is indeed more complex than just wash when it’s dirt. first how do you know it’s dirt? must you wait till you notice or feel something before you know it’s time to wash. most of us do t want to wash unnecessary. The scalp and the hair may need a wash as different time etc.. most people are not that in tune with their scalp. it’s easier to figure out what works and just do it on autopilot. that’s what this video is about. helping people figure out their routine
Washing hair frequently can cause hair rot, becoming brittle. Think back in time when it was not available. I agree with you 100%. Market today is overrated business as usual. Where we the consumers become their market. To grow their pockets longer. My opinion viewers do not take offense.
Hi! New subscriber and I'm learning so much from you already! Would you still be able to last this long without washing if you're working out? Thank you so much💜
it really is a personal thing. I’ll do a video to help us with this but some people rinse co wash or use witch hazel to keep clean between wash and post workouts
Thank you! Perhaps I’ll try those ideas out. I really want to implement some of the hydrating methods you’ve shared but I struggle to find the right balance with working out because I sweat so much.
Hey sis, Do you have a video on how to take down 3 months cornrows? I would like to see how you take down your protective style and learn from there. By the way thank you so much for what you do for our Afro community. God bless you!
Even with my type 1 hair, I wash my hair every three weeks - a month is just too long for my scalp. The oils your body produces are GOOD for your skin and hair. I also haven't used shampoo in almost a year. There are many, many ways women have been keeping their hair clean and healthy without daily washing for centuries.
Hey Sis, you are so beautiful and i love your hair. Can you include a video on how you thickened up your hair so much because it looks waaaaaaaaay thicker and fuller to me. What did you do and is doing? 😍😍😍
Hello, I'm 16 with 4c hair and I've been staring my hair growth journey for about 2 months now. I made a routine of installing cornrows and taking them out once a month, and I fully soak my cornrows with water once a week, dry and apply products, the second week I use shampoo to wash the cornrows, 3rd week I soak and dry again, and at the one Month I take out the cornrows, fully wash hair and reinstall. Do you think that's good or too much? By the way, I love your videos and you have helped me so much I love you. 💗
Chile you went in on this video🎉. I also loved cornrows as a protective style which allowed washing hair more simpler while in the cornrows and not taking it down for no more than 3 months during the spring and summer months when hair grows faster during that time. This is Satan's wicked world and he divides and conquers (1 John 5:19) How refreshing it will be in paradise on Earth under heavenly kingdom rule coming at anytime Now that all righteous mankind will receive perfect human life forever and live in true peace and security as one human family and this "system of things" will "not be brought to mind" ever again-Gen 1:27-30; Psalms 37:11,29; Isaiah 65:17,25; Matt 24:3,14,42,44;Rev 7:9,10;21:5 And in paradise "new scrolls" will be opened on how to live in paradise by Jehovah God's righteous standards not man's (Rev 20; Psalm 83:18; Matt 6:9,10;Jer 10:23) Thanks for sharing and take care and peace love and blessings to you and yours.🙋🏾♀️💐💜🙏🏾😀 Note: Since Africa is a continent not a country and is made up of different ethnicities and nationalities hair texture can vary amongst the people. Even in Eurasia, the Americas and the islands around the world indigenous people can have even tight curly hair and not be of African Nubian etc descent.
That's not true!! I had locks for 18 yrs. I used to wash my hair every 3- 6 months!! Sista don't pay attention to the negative, we are all unique & we employ different methods, that does not mean they are wrong!! I wash my hair when my hair tells me it's time to wash!!!
Black women with curly hair do not have to wash their hair weekly or even monthly others with straight hair. Regardless of race have issues that require them to wash their hair multiple times a week due to emitted odors This is a fact.
I had no choice but to change my wash routine to monthly. My hair cannot be manipulated weekly because it's too fragile.
Same here 🙌🏾
Tell me about it!
It's the same for me strands are too thin for that
You may need protein. Water is hydration. Why would you only hydrate the hair once a month? When all the nstursl channels preach "moisture" "hydration"??? Its weird to me. Can you grow hair washing once every month. I guess. Is it also counter intuitive YES. You cant preach hydration and wash once a month.
U can once a month wash if u are hydrating and moisturizing weekly with leave in glycerine water and go under dryer like our girl hair growing
They just need to do them and what is right for them and that’s it.
louder sis🤣🌺
I am also in the same boat, I wash my hair monthly because I believe when you wash your hair weekly, you wash the natural oils out of your hair
TY again for this video!!❤
you are spot on! UA-camrs share their k sledge and experience. love that you have found your personalised routine 🌺
Thank you for this much needed video.
love to hear you are finding benefit with reducing overwashing! sebum is really something
Yes! I believe in low manipulation & when you wash you are doin the most. & I noticed Less is Better ! God's special Gift is very unique ! & Awesome !
Honey you are spoiling us with these daily clips and I’m loving it! 🌻🥰
I concur!!!!❤
Thanks beautiful 🌺! Why not!💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🥂
When I did my big chop I had less than 1 inch and did W&G’s regularly. As my hair grew, I found it difficult to prevent breakage from over manipulation and transitioned to protective styles. Then, I redid my hair 2times a month. As I grew more I moved to monthly redos. I have too much hair to do weekly. You are spot on with this!❤❤
Wish the world could see this. Am not crazy right! Thanks for your testimony and honesty🌺
I noticed the most retention from growth during the lockdown was when I did 2 strands twist and left in for a month b4 shampooing. Sometimes I'd Cowash then 2 weeks later Shampoo then waited a month again for Shampooing.
I'm a 4 to 6 week fine strand natural wash day.. Yes we are all here to learn not judge. LOVE all ur videos. GOD BLESS😊
That is awesome!
I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with such rude responses. Learning that I coukd stretch out my wash days, has seriously improved the health of my hair as well as given me more time in the week, so thank you and please keep doing what you’re doing 💜
Also I don’t wash every week and get complimented on the way my hair smells - can’t believe they think it’s propaganda 😂
it’s crazy sis! so happy you are seeing improvements in your hair! love this for you 🌺
Before I got my sisterlocks, I washed my hair on average every 6-8 weeks when I changed my crochet braids.
This is not one size fits all.
thanks for sharing sis. it’s important to hear other people’s routines and see what’s working for folks out there❤️
Keep dropping those pearls of wisdom.
Ohhhh, the hot flashes. They seem to start at my head and spread. The worst times are when I’m in the shower or working out. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I’m 52.
Wow that’s for sharing this. 2 weeks is actually great! I hope you have continued success with your hair routine 🌺
@@Mande30 thanks for giving g us a glimpse into our future 😳😬🤣🤣🤣
In this life, just do what works for you. People will always talk no matter what you do. As for me , my hair is low porosity and I use both oils and grease in my hair and I workout a lot, so I wash my hair every week but in winter it every two weeks. In the past, before I became natural, I used to keep my hair for two months straight no washing it but since I became natural, I can’t even keep my hair for that long without washing it. I just feel uncomfortable if I leave my hair that long. Thank sis.
More power to you sis! Love a personal & functional routine 🥰
The 4c girls who had long hair like bra strap or waistlength and beyond they washed every 2-4 weeks.
sis what YT have said is facts! I couldn’t agree more. I hope more people can understand this soon
Girl I love to hear this positive feedback ❤️! How do you maintain a clean scalp during that period? Kindly share
@angelkhubukeli4814 Yes…me too!! ☺️🌸 I’m at every 3 months and I love it! My hair is thriving.
@@A_Wilson It's great, right? I've seen much more length retention this way.
@@angelkhubukeli4814 thanks for sharing 🙏🏽 it’s interesting how the scalp balances and regulates itself once we stop stripping it constantly
This actually a great routine sis! I also cut down my wash day to 1 hr🌺
Your makeup looks so pretty in this video! I wouldn't mind a small addition to the hair content in the form of some makeup looks. 👀
It's just occurred to me that I've NEVER seen someone say that not washing hair for 2-4 weeks is unhygienic when someone is trying to stretch a silk press or living the straight natural life. 🤔
I'm pretty sure Natural Reign got her hair pretty long with just wngs AND colouring it. Kayla from What the Kink also has WL hair and usually does WnGs. So it's definitely possible! (It's not the life for me though.)
There are LOTS of ladies with long hair who don't wash every week.
Girl BYE! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ❤️
Will check those ladies out! If there was an award to a star commenter/subscriber this year, it would be you ❤️. Well versed and knowledgeable constructive and polite. I have seen you comment under other videos I have watched! Thanks for your non biased contribution. Girl byeeee🤣🤣🤣🤣💃🏽
I batch film sometimes to be able to have a few ready to go at a time!
About make up girl am clueless. I get surprised when it ties out good 😜🙈
@esthertjones Yes to the silk press comment! Good catch! 👏🌸
Just do what works for you, it's trial and error.
thanks for sharing! true… not one size fits all
I’m going to take your advice, from a previous video, “tell the whole truth”.
@@A_Wilson honestly the scalp adjusts! How are you keeping the scalp clean within that period?
@CoilyDiaries Mostly with a tea tree oil and black seed oil mixed with a water spritz. At least once I’ll rub a little black soap with water on my scalp. I keep my hair in corn rows and plaits 99% of the time underneath a cute headscarf. ☺️🌸
@@A_Wilsonthank you for this!!! I am committed to this journey.
YOU ARE THE BEST PERIOD 💎🩵💎 KEEP IT UP AND BLESSINGS ABOVE AND BEYOND 🌟💐🌟
Thanks my gorgeous 🌺
If you want long hair don’t wash your hair frequently to minimise manipulation. If you want to be clean, wash your hair frequently. It’s that simple. And it’s your choice. Don’t worry about what other people do.
😅😅😅
I’ve noticed that most black women with long, healthy, natural hair don’t wash their hair weekly. There is nothing wrong with that. As long as you keep your scalp clean and your hair moisturized.
So true sis!🌺
@@CoilyDiaries you are most welcome, my sister!!!❤️🙏🏽
I love this channel you made me see the light about many things regarding my natural hair
love it!!
They are the ones who pay and conduct research for hair too, how could they not be biased?
my goodness! well said! it’s all about money honestly! gambling with people’s live is unacceptable
I just have to figure out how to properly moisturise my hair in braids (the best protective style for me)
totally get this. have a look at how I moisturise my braids in the “protective style playlist”
Great points raised!
Keep up the good work!
it’s possible to train your scalp to regulate itself better. I will share my full scalp routine soon. Hope it will be helpful 🌺
Thank you for this information. I wash my hair every two weeks, but I would like to wash every month. When I do twist and leave it for a month, my scalp was not itching . I felt I could go longer but thought I was doing harm to my hair. Thank You! Soooo Much
you are so welcome 🙏🏽
Never heard of itching to mean hair growth
I enjoyed all your video and I hope your message reach everyone that's willing to learn and are open to change, keep doing what you're doing
Thanks lovely 🥰
Agreed, monthly is too spaced apart.
I think it’s a case by case scenario
I started my hair journey on the 28 September 2022 with 3 cm hair long, I do weekly wash until my journey was a year old and my hair length was to 💄 lip then I started washing my hair twice a month and my hair is close to my chin won within one year two months and two weeks ❤
Love this for you sis 🌺
I said this a long time ago. My mom was a wig person, she would wash her hair once a month, grease her scalp and braid her up and back to wigs. And her hair would be down her back again after cutting it off.
it works eyyy!!!❤️❤️❤️
This was very informative I will definitely check out your other videos . I am one for if it works for that person keep doing you . I am weekly washer for the reasons u stated . But I’m also a new natural I’m going into my fourth year. And I would say I’ve learned a lot and definitely have had to make changes . And I know there are things I have to improve on . But I think it’s great if someone doesn’t have to wash their hair weekly and they can go two weeks , once a month . And I agree we should help each other . Lol if it wasn’t UA-cam university, I probably wouldn’t be a natural and have no idea how to take care of my hair.
appreciate your comment. keep going with your journey! it will pay out 🌺
Thank you very much for your video. I usually wash my hair fortnight in the summer due to sweating more etc. In winter i try to stretch it to every three weeks. I usually wear hats/headscarves in the winter. I have low porosity hair and wear protective stying 90% of the time. Detangling after taking my twists out is a breeze. ❤
Thanks for sharing! I am in protective styles most of the time too. twists mainly 🌺
Thanks for sharing! Keep going

A tough conversation but I'm glad it happened.

I have done videos on how to transition into washing monthly- might help
I saw your video about boar bristle brushes yesterday when I got one. It's only been a day but my hair feels really conditioned and smooth but not greasy. So glad I went down an old timey hair care rabbithole. I have really thick, fine blond hair, and it's short. I don't know how often I should wash my hair, but I'll take your word on what works for you. Your hair looks great.
Wonderful to hear!❤️
I have type 2, fine hair. I can't wash it every day. In Summer, I wash it every three or four days, depending on the sweating. In Winter, I wash it only once a week because my scalp is dryer. 😊
that sounds reasonable
@@CoilyDiaries Thank you. Keep up your good work!
Thank you!!
I agree with what you said! thanks for subbing 🌺🌺❤️
Thanks
welcome! clip ins are usually uncomfortable for me so I imagine removing and reapplying will cause some issues
I like watching your videos over and over and when I watched this one again it just came to me that when we French braid our hair it’s about a month or two before we wash it again so I never thought about it being non-hygienic that’s just the way we do when we braid our hair for one thing it takes too long to braid just to take it right back out unless it’s braided too tight love your content
lovely to hear frothier from a different perspective 🌺
I mostly wear braids so I cant wash my hair weekly or the style wouldn’t last long. I wash my braids monthly or if my scalp is itchy. Everyone has a different routine and does what works for them so I understand the big fuss
Exactly!!
21:00 I had ~18 inches of hair that i combed out from locs and as soon as I started wash and gos my hair started getting shorter and shorter the gels i think were doing a bit much... so youre right ive never seen successful growth or length retention doing just wash and gos
thanks for sharing ❤️
Well I was washing my hair every week because it was short it took no time at all but now that my hair is longer I am getting tried I planning to start washing my locs every 3 weeks I don’t produce much sebum on my scalp so I can even get away with not washing for 2 months
Ahhahah it’s a really individual thing isint it? So many factors involved
Also, I believe the Wash n Go Team decided No oils No Butters. But that does not Fly with others, especially you, me and thousands of Kinky Coily’s WHO Do Not do Wash n Go’s!!❤❤❤
Right!🤦🏽♀️
As a former relaxer, I would go as long as a month without washing my hair. Either because my schedule is hectic or I feel my hair is thriving and isn't packed with product. But I do take time to analyze and get it done.
that’s understandable
I wanna go long without washing, but my scalp will itch about a week to 9 days after washing.
I think that’s everyone’s issue girl. Hair loves less shampoo but the scalp loves it. Watch out for my scalp routine this same vlogmas🌺
I grew my hair with wash n gos and I'm your 4b/c hair. I suck at styles so that's why I did the wash n gos
Love this for you! I really couldn’t pull it off
Washing hair frequently can cause hair rot, becoming brittle. Think back in time when it was not available. I agree with you 100%. Market today is overrated business as usual. Where we the consumers become their market. To grow their pockets longer. My opinion viewers do not take offense.
couldn’t have said it better 🤷🏽♀️
Rhassoul clay is fantastic for cleansing the fair and it loves my curls.

God bless you!
yes I have a video on this. they are old though but am sure you can learn something from them
Even with my type 1 hair, I wash my hair every three weeks - a month is just too long for my scalp. The oils your body produces are GOOD for your skin and hair. I also haven't used shampoo in almost a year. There are many, many ways women have been keeping their hair clean and healthy without daily washing for centuries.
well said sis 🌺
I made my own hair oils and it kept my scalp free from odors, dandruff.
that’s amazing!!!
With my natural hair I wash it once a month, but since I put a light, relaxer in it, I wash it once a week
Thanks for sharing!! love this for you 🌺
i went back to washing it 2X a week using a sulfate shampoo.
Nice 👍🏽
Hey Sis, you are so beautiful and i love your hair. Can you include a video on how you thickened up your hair so much because it looks waaaaaaaaay thicker and fuller to me. What did you do and is doing? 😍😍😍
honestly it’s just shrinkage. when it’s stretched it looks thinner and vise verse. thickness is mostly genetics 🌺
My hair grows better when I wash it, once a month, and does not smell. Low porosity, 4c.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hello, I'm 16 with 4c hair and I've been staring my hair growth journey for about 2 months now. I made a routine of installing cornrows and taking them out once a month, and I fully soak my cornrows with water once a week, dry and apply products, the second week I use shampoo to wash the cornrows, 3rd week I soak and dry again, and at the one Month I take out the cornrows, fully wash hair and reinstall. Do you think that's good or too much? By the way, I love your videos and you have helped me so much I love you. 💗
That’s an amazing low maintenance routine! I love it 🥰
@@CoilyDiaries Thank you so much! I will continue with it and hopefully I will see results!! 💗🫶🏽
Thanks my sister ❤
My pleasure 😊
Forget about those bullies!!!
😅😅😅
Chile you went in on this video🎉. I also loved cornrows as a protective style which allowed washing hair more simpler while in the cornrows and not taking it down for no more than 3 months during the spring and summer months when hair grows faster during that time.

How refreshing it will be in paradise on Earth under heavenly kingdom rule coming at anytime Now that all righteous mankind will receive perfect human life forever and live in true peace and security as one human family and this "system of things" will "not be brought to mind" ever again-Gen 1:27-30; Psalms 37:11,29; Isaiah 65:17,25; Matt 24:3,14,42,44;Rev 7:9,10;21:5
And in paradise "new scrolls" will be opened on how to live in paradise by Jehovah God's righteous standards not man's (Rev 20; Psalm 83:18; Matt 6:9,10;Jer 10:23)
Thanks for sharing and take care and peace love and blessings to you and yours.🙋🏾♀️💐💜🙏🏾😀
Note: Since Africa is a continent not a country and is made up of different ethnicities and nationalities hair texture can vary amongst the people. Even in Eurasia, the Americas and the islands around the world indigenous people can have even tight curly hair and not be of African Nubian etc descent.
your comments are always uplifting. thank you so much for your perspective an blessings to your family as well🌺
@@CoilyDiaries Your hair in this video becomes you. Beautiful. 😀
Thanks for your positive response 🙏🏾😀💜💐🙋🏾♀️
That's not true!! I had locks for 18 yrs. I used to wash my hair every 3- 6 months!! Sista don't pay attention to the negative, we are all unique & we employ different methods, that does not mean they are wrong!! I wash my hair when my hair tells me it's time to wash!!!
Thanks for sharing!!❤️❤️❤️you are so right

@@CoilyDiaries the name of the hair care line you were talking about is Wen.
Ask a trusted friend to sniff your head, because I can’t smell my own scalp funk
🙄🙄🙄
I tried that a few times over the years. Doesn’t work for me.
What didn’t work sis?
Wash your hair as much and often as your hair requires. It is a uniquely individual matter. We are not a monolith.
true!
Black women with curly hair do not have to wash their hair weekly or even monthly others with straight hair. Regardless of race have issues that require them to wash their hair multiple times a week due to emitted odors This is a fact.
interesting
