Such a great course, very inspirational. Would be awesome with another where perhaps Allen could go over playing over changes and some other advanced stuff.
I have an Esquire similar. There is a very different sound to a Tele bridge pickup. It's not bled out by a switch and multiple caps Just a lot more oomph, sure less flexibility perhaps. But this guy is so good!
I wish I could still stretch like that. I just tried his demo at around 1:56 and my 4th finger is now killing me. The rheumatoid arthritis in my hands is very limiting. I'll keep watching, though. I'd love to see Alan live.
Sequencing is IMO both a finger independence, fret board mental visual, modal reinforcement and ear training exercise plus whether you use hybrid fingers alt pick or whatever it pick up from back in the day was what Miles did in Kind of Blue ???
Great lesson. Some legato players say it’s all hammer ons and no pull offs. But Allen Hinds’ playing sounds great with pulloffs. Is the ‘no pull offs’ thing a myth?
Do you think some of these guys have any idea how gifted they are? This guy is amazing. I have no idea what he's talking about. 3rd, 5th, 6th, 4th..... )-:
For those also wondering, those numbers represent "scale degrees", or plainly put, steps of the scale. Take C major: C=1, D=2, E=3, F=4, G=5, A=6, and B=7 So, if you want to start a lick on 5, in C major that'd be G, but in A major that'd be E (think: A B C# D E).
I agree, when you say A minor it implies A natural minor or aeolian with C being the key center, A dorian would be the 2nd mode of G major, and g being the key center. One note in difference f# in dorian and f natural in aeolian. That is at least my understanding. That said it is a great course, learned so much.
This lesson is pure gold
I've seen Allen live he is one amazing guitarist

Allen Hinds . . . . what a great find. Now I'm off to see if he teaches online. Great Video Allen ! ! ! ! !
"That a good couple months of practicing right there" - At least he was honest.
Great stuff from a great player! Thanks!
This guitar sounds perfect
Erik Ceman Allen could make a 60's Tiesco sound great.
I agree
The full sound of this guitar blows my mind, especially considering it's through a bridge pickup.

So much knowledge and so underrated!

Allen Hinds and Eddie Van Halen are the best live musicians in existence.

gotta love how you have to watch an ad to see an ad
Sir isn't A minor A aeolian not Dorian?
It can be either one. They are both minor modes. The difference between them is the 6th.
