- Make a bowl using only a scroll saw, a drill, sandpaper and some glue.
You can find the pattern in the "pattern catalog" at Steve Goods Blog www.scrollsawworkshop.blogspot...
Click on "Pattern Catalog" and select Category "Bowls". The Bowl is called "Star Bowl"

What I do like almost as much as your art work is the fact that you do not consider your audience being stupid, or three year old kids, so you do go straight to the point, without endless talking and explaining obvious - like many others do on UA-cam. It is really appreciated from my side. A hint - you can even "take out" repetitive parts where you are showing how you scroll-saw all segments, one by one - unless there is a difference in technique. :-)

Wonderful job, Jony. Quick question though - how does the packing tape lubricate the blade? I'd think the glue would do more gumming up than the Teflon would do lubricating.
Johnny West Thank you. I don't know why it works but belive me it works. If you get burnmarks in the wood you can prevent it with clear packing tape. I have a video where I demonstrate this. Unfortunately it's in german but I think you'll get the idea: ua-cam.com/video/UU68-cMYHVo/v-deo.html watch at Minute 20 and 40sec. Just try it yourself.

1988 год (мне 10 лет), Советская школа, урок труда, лист 5мм. фанеры, ручной лобзик и мы с языком (от усердия) на плече выпиливаем подобные тарелки. Единственное отличие - без острых граней, все углы закругленные. Позже, через пару лет, на ДОКе появился лазерный станок, вот на нем наши папки отрывались по полной - делали наличники, паркет, тарелки, подносы и т.д.

I have watched your videos on bowl making. Being new to scroll saw work I would like to know what size saw blade you used? It looks easy but would you recommend someone with not much experience to attempt making a basket.

+Douglas Hill Thank you! I used a Niqua Fix No 3, it's a good allround blade. Absolutely, you just have to have patience. In case you can't find Niqua blades, the Flying Dutchman blades are also made by Niqua Germany.

I can only guess do ultra reverse blades cut in the opposite direction of a standard blade? Can they be used on a bowl project?

Does the boiled linseed oil harden on the wood?
