    That was excellent. A bit fast for my old eyes to pick up on the sanding blocks you are using but I think I can figure that out. Thanks for a very intuitive video. Now, I must go make one.

    • @jahellen
      @jahellen  7 років тому +1

      To smooth out the initial glue up I (probably) used 100 grit then 150 grit. The drill flap wheel was 60 grit; the sanding sponges were 60 and 120 grit. The belt sander shaping was done with 80 grit. Final hand sanding was with 150 and 220; the oil was rubbed in with 600. Good luck on your build!

    Great work and thanks for the video. I don’t understand the point of the tape though.

    • @jahellen
      @jahellen  4 роки тому +1

      The tape's there for two reasons: 1) to be able to glue the pattern to something that will peel easily off the wood, and 2) to lubricate the scroll saw blade and prevent burning the wood.

    where did you get the pattern

    Can we use to serve food as it has resin coating ?

    • @jahellen
      @jahellen  6 років тому

      If you going to serve food in it I'd recommend using shellac or a mineral oil/beeswax combo as your finish. Other finishes are supposed to be food-safe when fully cured, but these two are definitely the easiest to apply and will cure very quickly.

    Why post a video with little to no instruction. For the music?

  • @arthurapon7485
    @arthurapon7485 5 років тому

    Fastastic work, But next time when you show us what your doing these old eye of mine don't focus quite as fast as they use to. Can you slow down just a little bit, on that part. When you cut the 28 degree I take it that the others were the same? I really liked the fast finish what was it?

    • @jahellen
      @jahellen  5 років тому

      All the layers were cut at 28 degrees. The finish is Danish oil.
      Thanks for watching!

      Mr Apon... Use the speed control on You Tube (the gear symbol, lower left corner area to speed up or slow down the action. I find myself using the 50% speed a lot, 75% you can still understand the speech... Hope it helps( I have the same problem)
