Lovely tribute to a wonderful actress Dave. The retro commercials were great, made me want to watch those shows.
Glad you enjoyed it, Angela! And...I truly appreciate the "Super Thanks". 🙂
@@jdsundstrom Could You Please Make a Video of The Untold Truth of Kenneth Tobey!
Phyllis was one of the most beautiful women ever to appear on TV, period. She should have had much greater success. Not only was she drop dead gorgeous, she projected a real intelligence as well. Thanks for honoring her this way, Dave.
I remember seeing her on many tv shows. Beautiful woman.
Thanks Dave. Phyllis deserved such a nice tribute.
She sure did.
@@jdsundstrom ....just wanna' say a heart~felt THANK YOU for creating & posting this tribute to Phyllis Davis.
As a teen, I had a MAJOR crush on her & combed through TV Guide every week to see if she was appearing on
any of the network shows. In fact, she & Jacklyn Smith were the ONLY reason I watched primetime TV. 🙂 I had
no interest in the programs...only to see these 2 Goddesses.
I may be "a bit" prejudiced...but...like you...I always thought Phyllis was an underrated actress. Now, with my maturity,
I believe it's because she valued her morals & refused to participate in the "casting-couch" games of Hollywood.
No-doubt, Phyllis is smiling down from Heaven & very appreciative of the well-deserved tribute you've given of
her professional acting career.
Best regards from Yucatan Mexico,
Ben
I mailed to Phyllis a glowing complimentary letter praising her and her stunning beauty, during her time on “Love American Style”. That was so long ago I wish I could remember what I wrote to her. So beautiful, indeed.❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing!!
What a lovely eulogy, Dave. I don't have too many memories of Phyllis, but she was a beautiful lady.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
She was great on Vegas!
Undrated as a actress, deserved her sucess LOVE HER IN VAGAS❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊
I used to watch her on Vegas when I was younger.
What a great actress and talented beauty. I too found it strange news of her death was as vague as it was. RIP Phyllis Davis. ❤
RIP Miss Davis!
BEAUTIFULLLLL.....I remember her.
Rest In Peace Phyllis Davis.
Thank You for the Video (and the memories).
Phyllis Davis was stunning. I liked her on Vegas Dave.Rip 🙏🏼😔
I heard of her passing much later than 2013 or 2014. RIP.
I remember Phyllis Davis mainly from Love American Style. So beautiful!
I think Phyllis made many more appearances on "Vega$".
ALWAYS A BEAUTIFUL LADY RIP
I loved her on Vegas, both beautiful and talented. May she be at peace.🌹🙏🌹
Nice, respectful, dedication; thank you ❤️
Thanks for watching!
This was a very nice tribute, Dave. I didn't know that she had passed. My earliest memory of her is from Love American Style. I will see if I can find that show and relive some happy memories. R.I.P Phyllis 🌹
I'm glad you found the video interesting, sunshinegirl1655!
Ah! Toni Basil's public prominence arose from her 1980s hit song, "Mickey."
She's a Las Vegas native, graduated from Las Vegas High School.
Remarkable coincidence that Davis's own acting prominence came about from the "Vega$" TV series.
Last thing I remember seeing her in was a few episodes of Magnum P.I., had no idea if she was still alive or not.
RIP Phyllis!😍
Great talent always be remembered
Another example in an delayed obit is the composer Richard Shores, who worked on such shows as The Wild Wild West (where Phyllis Davis appeared on), The Virginian, and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. He died in 2001, but was not published until early 2004.
Thanks for sharing, Pryce!
Beautiful Phyllis ❤!!
Surprised you didn't mention her appearance on Knight Rider 😚
I was just going to post that
There are many appearances that I didn't mention. Thanks for pointing that one out.
Can’t think of a more beautiful and elegant lady than Phyllis Davis.
Phyllis was a beautiful woman. Remember her from Vegas.
What a beautiful woman RIP ,👍🏴❤️
Great and long overdue tribute. Ms. Davis amazing figure probably got her a lot of work, but I think it also kept her from being taken more seriously as an actress which is a shame. Good work Dave.
I recall her passing - I was surprised she was not a bigger star - I mean she had it all - STUNNING looks AND she was a really good actress. She just needed some better roles .... she will not be forgotten though.
Thanks for sharing your memories!
She was so beautiful.
Agreed!
I remember Phyllis Davis as Bea, one of Dan Tanna's assistants on "Vega$" and I always thought she was pretty, although her character was more serious than my real crush, Judy Landers. I had no idea that she had died.
..good one ..uh beautiful woman watching and listening to her untold stories
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you Dave! You did a wonderful tribute and I am sure she is smiling in Heaven
Thank you kindly, Bridget
Thanks you Dave. Very touching.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
@@jdsundstromAlways nice to hear good humanitarian stories. When the world is full of darkness.
Such a nice remembrance of a lovely lady. Thanks Dave. Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it
She was great on The Love Boat and Fantasy Island.
But she was perfect in Vega$.
Well said!
She would be 84 this year had she lived. Still missed and appreciated. Even on those "exploitative" flicks she was in back in the 1970s her warmth showed through. I often wished she had had another "Beatrice Travis" role or two. Always beautiful, but I think her best "look" was the first season of Vega$. Later in life photos are almost nonexistent except for the one at 2:50 . A little fuller in the face, gray or frosted hair - and STILL beautiful, perhaps even more so than in her youth. I seriously doubt I will ever be in Henderson, but if I am I will stop by the cemetery and place a rose on her marker. Rest in Peace.
Phyllis was so beautiful!
Truly a major flaw and a sad state of affairs Dave.😢♥🙏🌹
Deana Martin (Dean's daughter) said in her book that Phyllis and her Dad dated for awhile.
I heard that as well.
I also didn't know she had passed away. It's possible the family did not report it until months later. Beth Howland of Alice is another example
Yep. Completely possible.
I remembered when Phyllis Davis did such a good job playing the main villain in the movie TV series pilot for Knight Rider on NBC.
She was on several episodes of the Wild Wild West.
Tony Basil? As in "Oh Mickey, you're so fine, you blow my mind?"
Wow 🎉
Phyllis was a very attractive and talented actress. So sorry to hear of her passing in 2013. I don’t know if you did a segment on another actress but Phyllis reminded me of a lady named Joanne Phlug. What became of her Dave?
Great question! I'll add Joanne to my potential topics list.
Judy Landers was an ace, but Phyllis Davis was the entire deck.
I'd like to play "sandwich" with them. They would be the bread with me as the middle!
Well said, Rich!
Dave…have you ever thought about doing a video on the narrator for the ABC commercials you played here? That guys voice was iconic! Just hearing him took me back!😊
You’re talking about Ernie Anderson, right? I agree that would be a good one to do. 🙂
@@jdsundstrom … okay first I am truly impressed that you knew who he was right away… you truly are the pop cultural historian!
And Yeah… I think it would be cool. I just looked him up… had an interesting career!
She was all over tv when I was a kid.
Didn't know she had passed away. :(
I recall one guest-star TV show appearance Phyllis Davis made that seemed VERY out of character of her: It was the pilot [or premiere] episode of "Knight Rider" where she played the part of a villain. _I just couldn't buy into that!_
I know, right? How could Phyllis play someone so darn rotten?!!?
Nice tribute bro...classy
Thank you so much 😀
The perfect Liability that Life is.
She was on the last season of Magnum P.I. at the end she married Rick.
OK...going out on a limb here, but.....I grew up in the east side of Houston (Galena Park)...lots of industry and really bad air, including benzene. Phyllis grew up in Port Arthur...lots of industry and refineries and again...bad air.
Many of my childhood friends have passed from cancer and it's almost surely attributed to growing up in that bad industrial air. At least we were upwind of most...Pasadena and Deer Park got the worst of it.
Just wondering if that led to Ms. Davis' eventual cancer. Just....wondering.
Thanks for sharing, Lyle.
0:55 there`s a song called Waitress in the Sky by Alt rock band The Replacements. Kinda funny.
Love "The Replacements"!
good evening dave, buddy.
Just to clarify, Judy Landers was only in season 1 and not all episodes. Character left with no explanation. Also, Bea got more "hands on" helping Dan Tanna in season 3, instead of just office work. Did some action scenes with Robert U.
Thanks for clarifying. I think her departure was due to her becoming a recurring character on "BJ and the Bear".
@@jdsundstrom ABC was putting Judy in the promos, and then poof, gone from show by mid-season,
I remember that term of stewardess ( later flight attendant).
I didn't know she died
She also played Scarlett O'Hara - for laughs! - in this movie, an attempt to make a '70s-R&B equivalent to 'A Hard Day's Night.'

OMG! I had no idea that "Train Ride to Hollywood" was here on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing!
@@jdsundstrom You're welcome - I'm surprised you forgot to mention it!
I Remember her Well , Beautiful Woman, Love American Style, Love Boat , Always Room for a KnockOut Bombshell on TV.I Especially Liked her on Sellecks Magnum PI. I Hope she Had some Happiness 🎉😊. Mr. Dave, Janis Page died June 2, Beautiful Lovely Lady from the Old Days of Hollywood 101 years old, How about that🎉. Maybe you could Do Something for Her ,
Thanks for the suggestion!
thank you...🙁🙃😇
Welcome 😊
She was great and would have made a good Charlie’s Angel
Totally agree!
Don't feel sorry for Phyllis, she had twenty good years of retirement after thirty years of her dream job. Plus she was Dean's gir for a spelll and had a ball at his side. Seemed relatable, like she'd share a cup of coffee with a regular fellow.
Well said. It was a life well lived.
Did I miss the tragic part?
Hey Richard. The tragic part was that when Phyllis passed, no one noticed for months. Not even her colleagues and peers. The SAG didn't announce her passing until nearly a half year later. And, none of the major media outlets mentioned her death. I talk about it, at length, in the video. Maybe you don't think that is sad and tragic, I certainly do.
Osinski Highway
She really was one of the most beautiful women ever to grace the screen
Thanks Dave. I don't remember her death being mentioned in 2013. It was great for you to give her this homage.
Nice 😊
Hi Dave, I always thought she was really attractive. She was kinda everywhere for awhile then....gone. Good video.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting!
Loved VEGAS but loved Phylis. She really added to the T.V. series.
A very under rated actress appered in many TV shows Vegas . magnum PI , Love Boat , Night Rider . Fantasy Island . love Boat and many others . A Las Vegas resident for many years .
One of favorite characters on Vegas.
👍👍👍 📺
Maybe her family held back the announcement.
I'm pretty sure Beth Howland's family (Vera on the TV show "Alice) didn't not release the news of her passing until almost 6 months later.
Loved her on "Vega$" and her "Love Boat" episodes.
Not having a family spokesman make any sort of announcement to the press certainly could have contributed to the fact that we were all late in discovering that Phyllis had passed away.
Great tribute great video thanks for sharing the info and all Dave always learning much appreciated
I never saw or heard about it on the news.
She is missed. Another great performance of hers was when she was in the pilot episode of Knight Rider where she played the evil Tonya Walker who shot the Michael Long/Michael Knight character which in a way was the reason that started the character on his crime fighting journey. Davis played the character very evil and dark which was very different from other parts she had on TV.
80s kids remember her as a blond, shooting Michael Long in the face in the desert who then became Michael Knight.
I didn't like her much on "Knight Rider". Such a double crosser!
Even when she tried to michael knight ill bet there arent many people who know about that i do
At one time ahead was Dean Martin's girlfriend.
I stop by her grave every now and then...
Nice tribute to a gorgeous lady
Thank you kindly
Like most everyone my age, she first got my youthful attention in Love American Style.
Yep. She made lots of fun appearances on that show. 🙂
Excellent tribute, I really liked her.
Glad you liked it
Phyllis was a total babe. Loved seeing her on Vegas among other shows. Screw the PC, I still call them stewardesses 😄
I'll call them whatever they ask me too. It's a pretty darn tough job, it's the least I can do.
I only knew who Phyllis was when I watched " Vegas" nit when zit first aired ( I shared the TV with my sister), but when MEtv aired it. I really like the show, and I really loved Phyllis on it. I loved all the characters. But she was beautiful, smart, and loyal. She portrayed the part of Beatrice very well. I wished I had a "girl Friday" like her. It was sad that her passing wasn't covered more. She's missed😢
Well said!
So Phyllis didn't want to be a mortician? Guess that's one job she couldn't DIG. 😆😆😆😆😆😆
Ha! That's a good one! 🤣😀🙂
I remember her passing here in Las Vegas. Vegas has radically changed from the days of the 70's and early 80's. When Vegas was on the air the land around Wayne Newton's was really rural. Today, the area has been developed and it completely surrounded by shops and housing developments. Such a shame that she passed away relatively young.
Thanks for sharing!
No disrespect to Robert Urich. However, Phyllis Davis was my reason for tuning in to watch Vegas. Phyllis definitely spiced up my TV screen! 🔥🔥🔥 RIP, Phyllis. You are missed.
Fair enough. I would add Judy Landers to my list of reasons to watch Vega$. It was a great show with a couple of really beautiful ladies.
@jdsundstrom I definitely agree. Both ladies were very talented and beautiful women. And the female fans had Urich. Thank you for your respectful and well-deserved tribute video for Phyllis. 👍
Sadly Landers was only on the 1st season.
Phyllis Davis was beautiful and sexy.
Agreed!
Hi Dave!! What a great lady. She was so beautiful. Thank you my friend. Always give us the most respectful updates. 🕊️🙏❤️
Hey there, thanks for the sweet comment! Glad you liked the video!
❤
... one of those faces I remember from childhood, despite growing up in the UK, but I never knew her name.
I never watched Vegas, but when I'd be flipping the channels, I ALWAYS stopped when Phyllis was on-screen (I wasn't too interested in Judy Landers). I would watch anything I saw she was on just to see her. She was sexy and beautiful.
A Bizzare Fact ! Marvel Comics seriously considered making a Black Widow film in the 1970s like they did Captain America and Spiderman. Phyllis actually was among the women who read for the role along with Cybil Shepard !!!
"Vega$" was filmed on location in LV. That's rare for tv shows. I posted a video "CSI Miami filming in Pasadena". David Caruso is a super nice guy who talked to the on-lookers and passed out little "CSI Miami" cards while the scene was being set up.
Thanks for sharing!
Great Video Dave, I'll admit I had a crush on her. I remember watching Fantasy Island With my Mom and Phyllis had to kiss Don Knots and my mom she's too pretty to be kissing him. lol
You're mom was right! That reminds me of the episode of "Love Boat" where Don Knotts was paired with Julie Newmar. C'mon!!!
@@jdsundstrom Don Knots had a pretty good life
