Oh my gracious, from 50 minutes on, took me right back in the moment. We did come together, we did rise from the rubbish. There were no strangers at that time, just helping hands and friends we hadn’t met before.
I'm a Florida native, who's been through many storms in 75 years . . . . . Those who always come, & stay, to help, are always of the best caliber along with the generousity of those who also were hit hard. Thank you for a beauty~fully done film . . . . . Could'a been any Town, anywhere but the southern accents made it all a bit warmer somehow. 💞~👵
Wonderful documentary of our precious town! I was so thankful for the positive comments about Paul Waff and his love for our community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and didn't expect anything in return.
Really cool of the town to make this documentary. Very well done. I remember having school cancelled because if Isabel and being very excited, but then spending days without power.
To me, Edenton has a unique community as many of the families there have been there or in nearby counties since the 13 colonies were created! Generations have lived in those parts & will continue to live there for more of its generations to come. The little town has its own culture & way of living, hard times are a reminder of how strong the community really is working together. This town holds so much history & will always be home.
Hard to believe it's been 20 years. I had been through several hurricanes but Isabel shook me to my core when it hit. I knew we were in trouble and there was nothing we could do but ride it out. After the storm we were trapped for three days in my brothers subdivision because of all of the trees and fallen power poles and lines. It was destruction everywhere. Thank God no one had been killed as we saw so many trees through houses and one was literally cut in half. We were eight days without power after that but the out pouring of the community with everyone helping each other was something to behold. To this day I haven't seen such humanity as we did after Isabel.
I can’t believe it’s been 21 years. I lived in Chesapeake,VA (Great Bridge area) at the time. We were out of power and water for 10 days. I was 11 and now I’m 32 and I still get anxious when the wind gets above a certain speed.
I should have given my footage I took on my old camcorder. I captured some of the worst in Cape colony area which was way worse than any footage I had seen anywhere else. What was here is cool, seen some familiar faces from back then and a close friend.

Beautifully done.
I remember it like yesterday. I was a writer for The Chowan Herald and my article was shown. Nostalgia.
