    The only way to end this misery is to make processed food more expensive by taxation, and using that to subsidise fresh fruit and vegetables.
    Its a disgrace that fast food costs less that fresh food.

    • @ampa4989
      @ampa4989 3 роки тому +2

      Don't be a knucklehead. Fresh food is cheaper than junk. But it's not as convenient. A single-serving bag of potato chips is at least a buck. An apple is no more than 50¢. A cheeseburger at least $1.15. But a whole pound of ground beef or chicken is $2.50. But you have to wash and cut the apple and cook the meat. Think before you repeat stupid dribble.

    This program said that 97% of people who lose weight from exercise gain it all back within 5 years. I am right back to where I started from 13 years ago. And I have changed my diet and consume very few calories from sugar- at least on the surface- one of my problems is I like ice cream and sugary yogurts- there is a ban on these products from my home. If people are going to came and visit me then I always ask them not bring this to my home. Man alive this show is so right.

      calories isn't the issue. its sugar. you say you ate Ice cream fairly frequently. Ice cream is basically sugar solidified in cold form and is towards the top of the list of one of the worst things you could ever eat. Flavored yogurts have so much sugar they might as well be in the same category of ice cream. that's very wise you banned them from your home or else there really would be no point in trying to lose weight if you continued to eat them. I too loved Ice cream and yogurt. I would down 2-4 Yoplait's at a time. eat an entire pint of ice cream in one sitting. eat an entire bag of Oreos in one day. I've never smoked crack before, but all that stuff is like junk food crack to your brain and its hard to stop. I'm turning my life around. eating no processed foods/beverages at all as a general rule. After a 20 day water fast i tried to drink a can of that fake green tea stuff. I used to love it. but it tasted so overwhelmingly sweet and made me feel very sick. then i checked the back of the can. 24 grams of sugar. that's 8 more grams than a 1 pound XL Hershey bar. I never ate another thing with refined sugar again. All glory to Jesus Christ.

    Been on a low carb, high fat diet since early August, was in the early stages of diabetes and mentally was clinically depressed. I had researched low carb, high fat for nearly 2 years but I never pulled the trigger on the diet because I didn't want to throw away junk food. Well, now 4 months on I'm 50 pounds down, quite a few pant sizes down, and I have no signs of diabetes whatsoever. Everyday I eat healthy greens and drink tons of water, I eat bacon for breakfast or cream cheese pancakes, for dinner I'll make a steak or some chicken with cheese and butter, for lunch I'll eat a salad with oils and I'm constantly measuring my electrolytes and other nutrients. It's the best decision I've made and to be honest, with the way I'm eating, I don't see myself going back to my old lifestyle.

    I wish I wasn't addicted to chocolate. I could eat multiple bars a day and I still wouldn't be satisfied. I'm not fat, although I could lose cca 15 kg to get to my ideal weight. I decided to stop eating anything with fake sugars (so fruits are okay) for a month to see what happens (along with working out and eating healthy). So far it's been 10 days and I still haven't succumbed to the temptations, although I do crave chocolate sometimes. It doesn't help that my mom and grandma have made 4 cakes and treats so far during this period, but I'm proud of myself for staying in complete control. What I hope to achieve is both lessen my cravings once I do start eating sweets again (this time in a more balanced way) and lose the extra weight. But goddamn, chocolate is fucking delicious. Especially Nutella.

    It not so much consciously adding sugar to our food. I don't think the majority of us do that. It is hidden sugar that we have to look out for. For example I didn't realize there was so much sugar in everyday breakfast cereals or ice cream. It tasted normal to me. I am obese with a 40 inch waist and high blood pressure. My Doctor have now put me on a calorie deficit diet. I am told what to eat throughout the day and am now losing weight slowly. The weird thing is I was told to keep to light exercises. I asked why and he told me something about cortisol levels. Anyway, the key is to keep losing weight slowly. That way you can keep it off.

    Exercise absolutely can help aid weight loss. To say otherwise is false. The problem is people overestimate their caloric burn from exercise and factor that into what they consume. Or they think, "hey, I walked 5 miles today, I deserve this 300 calorie cookie full of sugar". The main reason, I believe, exercise generally doesn't help much is people don't get enough of it even when they try.

People I only seemed to have started then I just couldn't seem to lose the weight. I ran 4 miles every morning, lifeted weights in the afternoon and either did a 20km cycle ride or 30 minutes of swimming. I am serious. People I worked with finally did an intervention and we determined that I was addicted to exercise. I put in 6 hours a day at the gym- I know you don't believe it but that is the truth. And all I ever seemed to be able to do was get hungrier. Actually once I lost the weight my appetite went up so much I would need to constantly all day long be feeding my self.

    Sugar is what every one if your 100 trillion cells in your body runs on. Fructose it by far the most desirable. Glucose is what is primarily found in vegges, the less optimal for your body. Why? Glucose is a simple sugar like fructose but it needs insulin to enter every cell (can you say diabetes?), where as fructose will enter the cell without a carrier. People think fruit has too much sugar in it but the fact is it tastes sweet whereas Glucose does not. Simple facts people miss.

It doesn’t make sense how Australia rises the prices of cigarettes bcoz of cancer and pressure on the health system well so is cheap junk food leading to obesity. Life is not cheap in Australia so what can u expect when Mc Donald’s is cheaper than a home cooked healthy meal raise prices of rubbish junk food like cigarettes 🙄 seriously citizens can’t to blame its financial struggle. Also medications can cause obesity like steroids for inflammation so those with Autoimmune illness steroids make them survive to function (I’m one of them but I always refuse medication that cause weight gain how about those with depression 💊 most antipsychotics cause weight gain with them you can be mentally stable

But I agree if you exercise but eat horribly bad things all the time, you're most likely still going to be unhealthy. but definitely not as unhealthy if you didn't exercise. exercise itself has many benefits. Not just weight loss. But yes, removing empty carbs like bread or breaded anything. that includes noodles. will go a long way towards your overall health. removing ALL foods that have processed refined sugar will also be a gigantic relief to your body. which unfortunately is most processed foods.

    I think what makes us fat is vegetable, fruit and meat *prices*. People can't afford healthier foods and they go back to cheap artificially(and with sugar) flavored products - although I feel like everything is tampered with additives nowadays.

      crystal sparks exactly, I think people don't realize the long term benefits to use quality ingredients - but also people are lazy, not everyone wants to cook a proper meal all the time or at all.

    • @robmixstyle
      @robmixstyle 9 років тому +3

      It is people's unwillingness to eat less healthy foods, because of taste, not price. Instead of traditional cereal, high in sugar, you can eat oats, and actually save a lot of money. There are healthy and cheap alternatives to eat for any meal of the day, but people are unaware of what options they have, and are not willing to make the changes to a healthier diet because they are addicted to sugar.

    Yes but... how much sugar is bad or gonna cause a severe insulin response? Thers no way that apples are bad for you, maybe ten apples yes, but not one. I still think its all input and output, mostly. A calorie is a unit of energy, we metabolize Air and sugar at nearly equal rates for most ppl and turn it into CO2, water and heat.

    Eat more fruit/veg/grains and plant based. Very simple. The problem is the fruit/veg companies don't have huge marketing budgets and the solution is so simple we may not hear about it. If the longest living groups on the planet do it then it makes sense for us to do it too.. Check out 'Blue zones'. The key is diet, community + purpose to our lives..

    Sorry to tell you this but RAW HONEY is actually good for the human body. The food additive called "honey" is really just sugar syrup and not honey at all. Raw honey is processed completely by the body and honey syrups are stored and processed as refined sugars and HFCS is. Let's get our facts straight!!!!

    • @fuz2
      @fuz2 9 років тому +4

      Yeah RAW HONEY is good for you! IN MODERATION. Go drink a liter of it every day and tell me where that gets you. No carbohydrate is good to mindlessly binge on, and no carbohydrate is inherently bad. Is a coke gonna hurt someone about to do something strenuous? Fuck no, maybe a little uneasy carbonation belly at first but that's exactly what simple sugars should be used for. Why do people think that theres a secret to all of this?

      Because, when they stop starving them selfs, they lard up. Which is why you have these people who spend all there time on diets and getting fat. You can try fasting though. Where you decide for a day or two days a week to go without food for 24 hours. I use it, and it works.

    6:23 "increase in dietary carbohydrate" has caused the obesity epidemic. This is false.
    Most of the longest lived and thinnest societies ever studied eat very high carbohydrate diets, such as the Okinawa with their sweet potato consumption. The problem is a lack of whole foods, which leads to the overconsumption of calories in general. Modern, manufactured food simply tastes too good and so we eat too much of it.

    Problem is that people indulge themselves too often. You could definitely live without sugar and replace it with natural means, such as fruit. However, it's so rooted into our society that people don't realize the dangers.
    If I ever get kids, I'd not let them eat sugar unless it's special occasions where they may indulge themselves. Hopefully by then, we've lobbied to make sure that the range of foods are not full of sugar.
    Though the best would be if we could somehow progress far enough technologically to get food synthesizers, where the food will taste the same as the real counterpart, but not contain any of the organic compounds that will eventually kill you.

      The guy you saw talking in the video gave a whole lecture on sugar. Basically, if you eat fruit, the fiber in the fruit prevents your organism from releasing insulin and therefore getting fat. But if you only eat or drink the sugar found in fruit, for instance if you drink orange juice, it's bad for you because insulin is being released.
