I was lucky to find 60s lace up boots last month for very cheap! I was so happy! They have a very nice tartan lining and are made of a very good and soft leather, so good!! I kind of struggle finding vintage shoes that fit in general (I am between two sizes and I have very narrow feet) but the boots fit very nicely!

I never saw Birkenstocks in the UK until the turn of the century. What we did wear in the sixties were wooden sandals made by Scholl. They were massively popular well into the 70s. I'm very impressed with your knowledge about those times that I lived through. Came to this video late but really enjoyed it for the nostalgia. By the way those short boots worn mostly by men in the 60s were called Chelsea boots in the UK.

In America the sandal/boot type of shoes you are talking about are often called gladiator sandals, that might help you find some online!

I didn’t really like them for the longest time too but I always had that one black pair because I use to do formal ballroom dancing. However now I find that they work great with certain looks but overall I feel like they’re a bit too sophisticated for my personal style...🙈

Wake up the inner hippie in you 🥳 - a really worth seeing video! You are really an expert of the 60s and 70s! I wasn't that familiar with the Birkenstock trend, for me wooden clogs were the best known. It's a shame that these are only a short trend every few years. Next to Birkenstock, I love wooden clogs most because of their convenience 👣😎. Best regards ❤️💕😍🤗

I remember my black PVC embroidered boots with the matching purse! Bought them at Bakers Shoes (chicago). Oh, and my 7 inch high suede platform shoes (aka, my 'Soul Train' dancing shoes) Wish I hung on to this stuff.
Those knee high cut-out sandals: called them "gladiator sandals" back then. Very uncomfortable to wear!

I have some of the 70's shoes like my boots. They have foe fer around the top of the boots and they have buckles and they zip up the side. I love them and they keep my feet so warm. And I have had clogs and they were comfy, I did have a pair of Birkenstocks and I wore them out then when I was in highschool my parents got me a pair of Dr. Sholes with the wooden bottom sandals and I wore them out too. And of the two pairs of shoes that I would love to have again? Birkenstocks, they were the most comfortable shoes that I ever wore.

Birkenstocks actually weren't popular in the 60s. Handmade leather sandals and buffalo sandals from India were the popular sandals in that era. Birkenstocks were a niche item in the 70s, but didn't achieve mainstream popularity until the 90s.
