the bug was most likely a house centipede. they look horrible but they are friendly to humans and they hunt all the other bugs in your house. keep them around :)
@@DeanLamb Those mofos get so damn big too. We don't have them in Nova Scotia, but when I lived in Southern Ontario I'd regularly find ones where the body section alone was like the size of my index finger...
Yeah they might be "friendly", but the first one I encountered was in Japan (geji-geji in Japanese), and it was about 8 to 10 cm long, along the body, not including the legs. It motored out of my futon cupboard like it owned the whole apartment and tore across my living room floor, doing doughnuts and burnouts. I had never seen anything as horrific, and I'm Australian. I've survived three drop bear attacks! And this horrific Eldritch monstrosity sent me straight to the real estate agent to find a new apartment.
Fellow classical music student and former orchestra member. The "downbeat" lands on the downstroke of the conducting wand. Depending on the time signature, the conducting patterns are different. And when a conductor gets lost they just wave their arm in a circle for every single beat until they figure out where they are.
Conductors start with a down stroke on the 1, then left for 2, then right for 3, then go back up to 4 and repeat. I did one semester of conducting as music major and that's I remember from that class.
it's in and out for 2 and 3, not specifically left or right because those shift from view to view and are confusing. Also, when conducting with both hands simultaneously, they mirror each other
@@buwumet I guess it would be "in" and "out". The motions for counting 5, 6, and 7's are neat. The final exam for the conducting class I took was to conduct one piece with an orchestra. I had to look at an entire score. I got completely lost looking at the sheet music but I kept doing the 4/4 motions until the music stopped. I figured they knew what they were doing. 😁
I just need you guys to know that my wife looks at Claire and goes..."Isn't she with that bald guy with the glasses?" And I was like..."you mean Dean?" She's like nah....and she goes on to describe Anthony Fantano. So I say...."Anthony Fantano?" "yes."
From her description: It was just a house centipede... those are spider killers and actually keep your home safer by offing other insects. It was just trying to help.
YES I GOT THE CONDUCTING WRONG! We did cover that i'm stupid and have terrible memory so I was bound to get my facts wrong 😅 Deepest apologies to all 🙏
Here in North Carolina we definitely have Spider crickets ( technically called Camel crickets) and oddly enough, there’s a killer legendary local death metal band called Eldritch Horror. The more you know, ………
I kinda wish you would do more 4 levels of classic bands. Deicide and Morbid Angel were world changing for me. But I'd love to see one for Possessed, Obituary, Bathory, Darkthrone, Mayhem, Razor (for Canadia), and maybe Bodom if you're into their riffs (I am for sure. The riffs get pretty tasty).
Im so excited to see them on this tour tour in June. Looking forward to seeing some great bands ran by some goofballs having fun doing what they love (making insane music ofc)!
Single af, but it always brings me true happiness to see the chemistry that you both have, you rule guys! Just hope to find something like that one day :)
I clicked on this just because I love these videos, then I realized it was for Carcosa and I am even more excited to watch now. Favorite band out there is Carcosa, awesome to see!
I love the classical bro theory lol but the first beat in a measure is on the down hand motion, hence beat 1 being known as the "down beat." I love the channel, guys. Keep killing it.
Oooooo Chicago's only a few hours north of me. Usually I avoid that city like the plague as anyone sane who lives in Illinois does.... However... Upon hearing this and watching your video from yesterday I know that Misyrion is gonna be on this tour as well. I'm gonna go check this out! Maybe I'll finally get to meet Dean in person. That'd be dope af!!! 💪🎸🤘🔥
Sounds like it was a house centipede. They are good bugs to have, although ugly they hunt and kill all other bugs in your home, they won't harm you they just want to flee and hide
This is probably the bug you saw. I copied this from wikipedia. Scutigera coleoptrata, also known as the house centipede, is a species of centipede that is typically yellowish-grey and has up to 15 pairs of long legs. Originating in the Mediterranean region, it has spread to other parts of the world, where it can live in human homes.[1] It is an insectivore; it kills and eats other arthropods, such as insects and arachnids.[2]
You're coming to Minneapolis and I am so thankful cause I just don't have the opportunity to travel for shows these days. I WILL BUY ALL THE MERCH AHHHHHHH
for conducting in 4/4 it's top/down/left/right right on the beat you can also kinda just do whatever you want as long as it's on the beat, watch weird al conduct the jr philharmonic, it's on youtube
As someone who went to school for music ed... conducting isn't 100% set in stone. Commonly, beat 1 goes down and 4 is up. 2 and 3 are left and right. But, each conductor could do their own thing. I've seen some go: down, left, right, left.
God how I would like that. Eddie is a fucking beast. Practically the most brutal metal guitarist I think and one of the best songwriters I have ever heard in my life
@@satanicgay666 absolutely. The stuff he writes is so unorthodox but at the same time so brutal and good. Like all the stuff on the new album with the slides like the opening riff to sacrament and sincest
Great video guys, would it be possible for you to do dying fetus 4 levels of death metal? They have some killer riffs which could be challenging for you both
I know Oklahoma probably isnt the ideal spot to tour to, but it would be cool if at some point you guys included an Oklahoma tour date. I haven’t seen you guys since you came through with origin and a bunch of other bands in Tulsa.
Sprickets are horrifying, I just saw one for the first time a few years ago and I was immediately filled with terror. My girlfriend killed it while I was at work and left it's remnants to ask me what the hell it was. I was just as puzzled and disgusted.
Please, make an episode with a Brazilian metal bands. We have a lot of awesome bands down here. Like Crypta, Nervosa, John Wayne, Project46. "Friendly to humans" yeah you keep thinking that bro don't blame us when there's no bugs left in the house and you looking mighty tasty
Yup. I had those in an apartment. Hideous, but harmless.
LOVE the Meshuggah face during Claine's playthrough of the first riff!!!
This series introduces me to so many awesome bands. And you two are funny as fuck
Check out Andrew’s other band too called Galactic Pegasus

As an orchestral player, I second this
i knew what the downbeat and upbeat were but i never put 2 and 2 together until someone explained to me after i made that exact same misconception 😭

The fucking Slay the Spire reference killed me 😂 great video
12:00 big fan of the slay the spire card edit
Really enjoyed this one -- gonna' have to check out Carcosa now.

last riff sounds like it could be an archspire riff lol
Not the biggest fan of their music but my word do they look so much healthier now. Cheers!
You definitely need Eyal Levi at 4LoDM. And both old and new Daath material
Jesus christ, what a fucking line-up, even Alluvial my love is there, and no Europe tour? Makes my heart cry.
Seeing you in Michigan! Can't wait! 🤘🤘🤘

Dean is an extension of his guitar. Such a talented bald dude. Claine's alright too. She isn't bald.
That slay the spire reference, let’s friggin go! Love Carcosa \m/

Oh fun thing actually, the conductor does a down stroke for the first beat of each measure, and that's why it's called the downbeat
Love the channel!
Enjoyed. Carry on.
Thanks for introducing me to CARCOSA! also, keep making these videos, you two are nice :)
