These long-form videos are quite refreshing. It really captures the feeling of "car culture" that is poorly imitated by people showing off their collection of supercars that barely get driven.
Good to see, or not see, cars doing 🍩 s in intersection, crashing into each other, people getting run over or flying out of cars, and all other bs that goes on
The dealers definitely killed the Z here in the states. I wanted one so bad having owned all the great Nissans from the 90s and being a Datsun fan. The markups were just so crazy, glad to hear someone with influence saying it out loud.
Thanks for the feature Larry! It was great to finally meet you and get to chat a bit. sorry that we had to cut it short but hope to see you around these parts again soon =)
What Larry & Dino have done for car culture (AND CONTINUE TO DO) cannot be appreciated ENOUGH. They are walking/living legends. Thank you, Larry. Thank you, Dino.
Eh, he tried to launch a take it to the track video, but when you’re in his position that’s too contradictory, called him on it in fact. Otherwise he is innocent honest learning genius hard worker.
My Grandpa in Awas a ledgend he had an R31 Skyline and we use to do country runs all the time. I wish he still had it and I could keep it in the family. I love going to Japan for work it's always a great time.
The biggest issue with the new Z is the price and that's all there is to it. When you can get the competitors at the price of the base model but can still beat the Nismo then people are going to go with the competitor. The Nismo needs to be priced at what the Type R and Supra is and the non Nismo needs to be like 40k for the performance. Amazing cars in the video at Daikoku.
I can't wait to experience the Japanese car scene in person. Thank you for showing us your POV. I hope you'll make it back out to Seattle soon. Would love to meet you!
We still waiting for you in NYC Mr Larry ,DAIKOKU events are the best car meets just different type of cars that can show up is always very cool my opinion
I don't think dealer markup had anything to do with the failure of the new Z. It failed because consumers weren't interested in the same car with a new outer shell. Nissan phoned it home on the new Z and everyone knew it.
I was all-in on getting one but then on full release it became very obvious it was still the same platform and I just wasn't going to spend their asking price for a 20 year old chassis. I also sat in one a year or two ago and the interior was certainly upgraded for a Z but not anywhere near the competition.
70k USD markup makes it a wayy bigger problem than anything you say. They would be good points if not for the glaring red flags these dealers put all over these cars. Who would ever consider buying these at this price, forget the specs.
I'm with you Larry. Nissan really dropped the ball on the 400Z and markups really fucked a lot of people. I had an A90 Supra and was ready to trade that for a 400Z. Couldn't get one so I wound up with a R35 GTR instead.
I really wanted a new Z car but every dealer I talked to wanted 10-13k usd over msrp and wouldn’t come down at all. I was so put off I stopped looking.
All those nice cars... sport cars... modified cars... all just parked there... stayed still... no actions... cars are meant to cars... sport cars are meant to perform... not parked...
I honestly do not get the desire behind these cars... I try to follow along and I just don't get it. Having owned many imports over the years the only advantage they had was reliable and cheap. Now they are old and expensive and less reliable. Just don't get it.

Ride or die. Drive em like you love em.

Part of what keeps us going back to Daikoku is that all the cars there actually get driven 😁

370s were selling forow 30s new in Canada. The 400 is 60+. Price absolutely killed it.

What a cool Vid . Same day I’ll visit Japan.
Hit the like button right away when I heard the ae86 revving up for the first 1-2 seconds of the vid haha
The Nissan Z is a beautiful car.
It sounding like a vtec

Big!
the new Z is beautiful, and the sad part is in my town which is about 1m people I've seen 2 driving around Nissan really wasted the car.
I don't no how dealers get away with the mark ups on new cars
Goku rolling shots?
Sleeping in daiku😢

Nobody gonna say anything about the trailblazer behind the s600
The original versions they offered were meh. Then the Nismo came along (yay) and all it offered was an automatic (boo).

do better larry. this is unacceptible. i cant believe you would put shitty music over the sound of 3 4ags on the highway.
