I live in DTLB and the best part about JCCS is the morning of the show when all you see are classic JDM cars cruising on Pine, Ocean and Shoreline. The parking lot across the street is also a car show unto itself. Being a mixed-race Angelino it also fills my heart to be amongst an incredibly diverse crowd all brought together by the love and appreciation of automotive art.
I was at JCCS 2024 here too, saw Sung Kang chatting with his buddy next to his car, I was about 30 feet away from them. Seems like a humble, friendly guy. Love the diversity of the cars and vibe at the show, probably the best Japanese car show in the U.S. If any of you are ever in the area and love old school JDM cars, definitely check out the show, it's worth it 🙂
You're such an inspiration Larry! Sung just made this video even better, plus, plus! I know it's not your first time with him so it makes sense but I'd be in such awe with his presence. Cali really is the place to be for the car scene.
Absolutely one of the highlights of my year, saw Larry when I was rolling in for a brief moment. Having a car there is overwhelming on multiple levels. 2minutes 40seconds there is proof it was there.
Larry thanks for bringing us along on car shows like this, JDM culture is just amazing, didn't know that you in the US have such a strong JDM community. Asome to see Sung Kang just rolling there with the crowd and that he is in real life also a true car nut. Great video and keep up with amazing work, greetings from sLOVEnia :)
That Toyota Camper was so cool Seeing Sung and his car was insane and he Autographed that picture at the end Larry Made That Dream come true for him lol
I believe that Ae101 Corolla is a JTCC Super Touring Car, and there were also 2 Super touring XV10 Camrys that started out in South Africa Super Touring, one was eventually also raced by Rod Millen in the North American Super touring championship and one is currently restored and being ran by a guy named Stu Black in New Zealand's Archibalds Historic Touring Car series, in its original blue Minolta livery. The Camrys are quite huge for Super tourers lol they look interesting on the track, one also had the iconic green and red on white Castrol livery that Supras and Celicas also had in racing at the time. Edit: I did some Googling looks like Wedssport made a Corolla JTCC replica, but man it is convincing of the original!
My 76 had seats like Sung's! Bought the car as a complete basket case in the early 2000's. The seats were extremely worn and sun damaged. This is the first time I've ever seen similar seats, black and white cloth. Maybe a factory option/special order? Cool to see, I'd love to have them again.
My great aunt had an 87 or 88 Toyota camper and she was still driving and using it up till she passed away in 2016. It’s small but it’s the OG overlander.
Saw an S-Cargo for the first time in '91. Told friends & family then that I would own once import eligible. Fast forward 33 years and very clean #DJ0 Olive Grey Pao and #KJ0 Blue S-Cargo reside in collection. Thank you for showcasing underrated height of postmodernization Pike cars Larry.
My parents have been rolling their 1982 Toyota Starlet daily since 1983. They still drive it and it has over 1 million miles on it. White with the tan interior with black strip. Just like Larry’s buddy car but it’s completely stock.
You had me a "Japanese Classic Car Show". I am like 1 minute into the video when making this comment and yeah, classic cars, but especially Japanese classic cars are just gorgeous. Too bad this event is on the other side of the world for me.
If you want to do a fun drinking game on those longer videos from Larry take a shot everytime he says: "Cool!" "So cool!" "Soooooooo cooool!" "OH MY GAWD IT'S SOOO KEWL!!!" 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Don't be hurt, but I want to put an LS in every RWD JDM car you're showing. If I could afford it? It would be a 4 rotor instead. I love that poltergeist shriek!
I enjoyed it, but didn't see any Roadsters. 67 2000s are amongst the rarest of all JDM cars. 7000rpm OHC engine, 5 speed trans and Solex/Mikuni carburation years before most...
Man that was a mint s13..it's a guy in my neighborhood that has that same car 100% stock with stock hub caps as well. His car just sits outside in the driveway uncovered..Seems he doesn't want to sell or fix it up..such a shame..good coverage though..👍🏾🏁
When a Larry Chen video goes live, I get a smile on my face. He does the best job of beautifully showcasing the automotive culture.

23:59 "There's a little bit of play there actually, you know?"
*Proceeds to pull one hair follicle from his chest to demonstrate the amount of 'play.'
That 74 repu is a dream truck of mine . Love to be able to Own one someday. In memory of what my father had when I was growing up
This is one thing I miss about growing up in California Jccs and torc. I also miss the car guy life, but not the stress part of it.
