If you think this is bad you should see what Mark from the Soft White underbelly did to a woman, I think her name was brittany. She said several times her dad molested her, she was on crack, they put her in an experimental program that used virtual reality goggles in an inpatient facility, she died.

Even victims of sexual assault are told to describe in detail the exact penetration and disgusting details. He says the viewers want to know, but that isn't true. Why was so much detail needed? Molested, raped, fondled - trauma is trauma. A violation is a violation. If it's happened to you, you are not comforted by "Well, at least they didn't do this or that."

Yep. Been there and done that, Babygirl. I remember being homeless in my teens and sporadically throughout my twenties. I was homeless while struggling with my mental health, and everywhere I turned I was blamed for it; in my face and behind my back.
I had gone from shelter to shelter whenever I could find an opening, but no one prepared me for the insurmountable industrial complex that it is. It is a very difficult system to navigate, and many of the people who work in that sector aren't in it to help those who have been marginalized and outcasted from society. Many of the shelter staff are rude, abusive, misappropriate funds, are utilizing the resources for themselves, and are usually not very welcoming or compassionate. That's a big part of the reason why many people would rather be outside.
When it came to my family, many of them were overburdened and had their own lives to tend to. Many of them couldn't deal with the behavioral changes that I'd developed after experiencing severe trauma, extended periods of isolation, and homelessness. I did have some family and acquaintances that supported me along the way, but they never let me forget it, and they made sure others knew about it too. The only family who helped me without ulterior motives was my cousin Cawasdis, and people like him are a rarity among wolves.
I didn’t have many friends because fear of abandonment, fear of rejection, and lack of trust caused me to develop a pattern of socially isolating myself. It just made me feel safer. It was also a rare occasion when I would encounter people who would want to help me without wanting to use me in some way, and when I had nothing or very little to give I would be shamed into oblivion for it. Most of my time homeless was spent suffering in silence and hiding from people out of fear and shame.
I'm sharing my story because it isn't "personal business". I'm also not ashamed of it anymore; especially when I consider how systemic and political corruption has fueled the homeless industrial complex and is contributing to mass homelessness at an alarming and increasing rate. Furthermore, I know that my story is far more common than many care to admit, and we need to acknowledge how mass housing instability is killing the souls of and prematurely ending the lives of so many Black American people...in the very country that our ancestors built up and fought for us to be *FREE* in. Most importantly, I have come a long way, and if sharing my experience helps someone feel less alone and helps them to heal, then shame could never overshadow or overpower that.
Thank you for sharing your story. I understand entirely. You helped me to recognize things and it made me feel like for once on this planet I am not alone. I am not an alien. I am not a worthless human being just because other human beings have treated me that way. I have worth and value, just like everyone else in this world, even if no one sees it or sees me. It is so inhumane and very unjust to see so many people struggling to survive and trying to keep their mental health intact while doing so. Our evil politicians keep sending aid to Ukraine and other countries while our own country is in complete shambles. How is that your fault? It isn't.
