- The Indian Govt has just announced the Vehicle Scrappage Policy , which impacts over 50 lakh cars which are older than 15 years. There are a lot of rumours being spread about this and there is a lot of panic associated with the same.
In this video, we explain what has been announced, and what the real impact is on our cars.

This is a very useful scheme. Vehicle testing to be done in every five year. As in India only you can see the police stopping the vehicle to check the insurance. Whereas in most of the developed nation insurance and vehicle testing are done on yearly as you said. Indian pedestrian and vehicle buyers should consider the safety features of the vehicle.
It's not to save the environment ..but more tax or bribe to some sections

More and more vehicles be it any form to produce them and the electrical needs of whole world will again need huge resources.
There is much more towards vehicle scrapping . The main objective is to reduce oil imports which causes the majority of exchange deficit . The value of rupee may increase , also a new industry of electric, cng, lng is created that may have a positive effect on economy because we have many Indian companies with affordable technologies already . The best example is the petronet lng terminal at kochi with pipeline extending to manglore , a facility started with huge investment is running at less than 10% of its capacity .

In UK any vehicle older than 3 years have to take an MOT test and if it fails the faults has to be fixed and retested before driven in a road. This is a very good process ensuring only fit to drive vehicles are in road. Rather than 20 years that should happen in India every 5 years or something which is for every road users safety. I think the way this bill is presented is the problem. I don't see why there is a huge cry. At Least 30-40 % cars in India is being used everyday is not road worthy and this 20 year check is of no use.. If I was the minister in charge for the rule, I will make the test mandatory after 5 years and a retest at least every 2 years not with the aim of scrapping but to ensure only fit vehicles are in road.
How can u compare a developed country like UK with India.People are already suffering covid crisis,high petrol prices and on top of that this new policies.Most of the people owning 15 year old cars middle class or lower middle class.

In the Metros, Private Petrol Cars over 15 years age and Diesel Cars over 10 years age cannot be re-registered already. one finds abandoned Marutis, Ambassadors and Fiats at odd places - outside colonies, railway/ metro parking areas, near rubbish dumps, even private apartment basement parking areas!
As you said, it is as good as demonetization proved to be - in fact, is is DESIGNED, just as demonetization was, to NOT benefit the common man!!

Can you do a video on advantages and disadvantages of ethanol blending in petrol. Would it harm cars in long run. How much effect will Hygroscopic nature of ethanol have on cars. Will Ethanol mix happen in premium petrol also. Will the maintenance cost of petrol vehicles increase. Can we change the petrol engine to flex fuel engine by any modification. How much will fuel efficiency decrease due to ethanol blending.

This applies to all cars as it is even today...reg electric cars we are yet to know about the economic feasibility after 15 years ...for eg as per tata the cost of the battery pack is more than 50% of the total cost of the car and the life expectancy of the battery pack is max 8 years

We will not get 5-6% off in S class by scrapping a maruti, the discount is applicable for same class vehicle. Also for 50 year old vehicle vintage license can be applied but as per norms the usage is restricted.(like driving to autoshows or so not as a daily commute vehicle). Pinne like you said there is not much clarity around this topic. All the above said information was gathered through various webportals or newspapers 🙏.
Most of these are approximations or derived from bits and bobs of information that are dropped like crumbs by MORTH. Till there is an official ruling which has been issued , our guess is as good as theirs. In God We trust. All others show data. :)

Also these benefits are for all EV's not only 2 wheelers however subsidy is presently only for 2 wheeler.. But i think road tax exemption is for all evs..

That tests might cost very high like around 30 to 40 thousands. To do the retest and to meet the increased road tax and the insurance it will be hefty for a common man and impractical.
