Now I get it. When I was an about 11 years old, Mum had these large, square, flat floor cushions. She stored them between the wall and a large cupboard. I used to enjoy squeezing in between those two cushions. Now I understand why that squashy spot felt so good.
I've got a lovely pet Boa. He calms my nervous system down ok (i am autistic) and he is an expert hug machine!! For emergency release, i nibble on his tail.
@undertheradar001 are you serious or joking? I hope you are serious, and I'd like to know more about the whole thing! The tail-nibble piqued my interest 😆
@@bildo99ify Serious. The tail nibble or mouthwash in his mouth would make him let go if he bit. He is also trained not to squeeze. He has never bitten. They are great animals to calm if they are used to humans. Boas are very forgiving and very gentle when they get socialized. If he wraps round, he will loosen if you relax. It is like getting a hug and a gentle massage. A Boa has a calming effect like a heavy blanket.
Im 29 and finding out Im autistic is quite overwhelming but validating. Haven't sat down to watch it in full but I've cried at the handful of clips I've watched everytime. My eyes my dry out completley if Im able to sit and focus through it,.
You can find temples plans free online. With minimal engineering / building experience and some tools you can build it yourself or maybe contract someone to. Otherwise they're available for about $4000.

@@vanessasharples6227 Super late on this, but my daughter loves to be inside my pneumatic compression pump. I bought mine from Therabody, but there are less expensive ones out there that would probably do the trick for deep pressure.
Love that this was invented by an Autistic lady, but the principles work for pretty much everyone. I'm not autistic or neurodivergent (as far as i know lol) but I definitely feel calm squeezing myself into tight spaces. People ask me if I feel claustrophobic, not at all. Just feels very calming. Honestly it's not very comparable to a hug in my opinion. More like being squished against a wall
its meant for people who experience extreme discomfort and anxiety when touched by other people, usually autistic people. im autistic and i hate touching other people because the texture and weight of other people makes me uncomfortable. objects are different, less sweaty. If you dont think this would work for you, then congrats you are a normal person, but for people like us who dont like touching people we need it. usually when something seems odd or unnecessary, its really just not meant for you and thats okay. pleas be more understanding next time
@@intensestare5027 I didn’t mean to be not understanding. If anything maybe inconsiderate and I apologize. I just wanted to encourage more hugging. Which can’t be a bad thing. Maybe don’t hug you more but for society in general we should hug more.
Right? Especially after reading the results from the recent randomized control Danmask-19 study (3000 people) showed little to no effect on prevention with mask wearing.
What is the cost? A few minutes with a mask. Possibly saving a human life or reducing suffering is worth that mild inconvenience to most decent people.
Especially after the studies of the last forty years showed little or no effect that masks play in protecting from contagion. If it helps you feel safer, go for it - but not all day as breathing your own waste back in does lead to health problems.
Shame on you. A woman more intelligent than you can comprehend designed this for herself and her own people, to help them with something that nothing else helps with.
Never heard of temple grandin till a couple days ago. Been doing kind of a deep dive on her and she is pretty amazing.
I could definitely use a hug machine in my life.
Me too

I didn't know what a temple Grandin is until i saw modern family Halloween episode.😅😂

I love Temple, she is a genius but that machine looks kind of terrifying. I personally use butterfly hugs, 8D music and tapping to regulate.

Autistic people feel terrible when hug by people. Their brain doesn't acept human interaction. They are barely able to look at you in the eye.
Not everyone wants to be hugged by people
