I don't care if it does increase profit, it also increases humane handling of these animals. Dr. Grandin had to use profit motives in order to get her designs looked at. Kudos, Dr. Grandin. You are my hero.

People are going to eat meat, that can't be stopped. The vast majority of people want the animal to be treated and slaughtered as humanely and as painlessly as possible. If given the choice, I for one, would buy meat that was processed at one of Temple Grandin designed facilities because I know the livestock are slaughtered humanely and quickly. I think others would as well.
There does need to be respect for the animals that provide for our food.

Darth Belal there is no such thing as humane slaughter! Just think about it. And animals don’t provide our food we steal their lives so we can slaughter and eat them. There is plenty of food that does not need to be slaughtered.

The veganism movement is on the rise so that is material proof of that not being true. Leaving it in theory, can you explain the reason you think a human being is not capable of changing his thoughts about something? The only reason why such a big amount of people eats meat is because they are unaware of what dying at a slaughterhouse actually is and how conscious other animals species are.

    • @randomperson748

      @@yeahyeahyaha2 year late but still
We have to make the process more Humane because it effects everything.
For the animal if they are more than stressed and panicked they are most likely to hurt themselves, other animals and/or even handlers in the process. Especially when the slaughtering part comes up, it can still cause problems if they are not calm or just make the suffering worse in the long run when our goal is to make it as painless as possible. Atop of that it can send a panic to the others which only causes way more problems.
For the Meat Plant as they explained before, it can cause back ups in the progress, if a animal gets hurt or sends a panic it can cause everything to stop and the last thing you want to happen in your plant is continuously having to stop because you Are on a time limit on sending out your products.
If the animal is seriously wounded, sick or has a infected wound that can seriously affect not only the meat but also the Consumers that buy your infected product and have gotten sick from it leading you to a decrease in value. If the stopped progress delays your deliveries it can also harm your business for every late delivery as well as no one would want to buy your product if you have a habit of being late all the time making your business seem unreliable.
Vegan or not we as humans have the responsibility to take care of our animals, we're not blood thirsty Beasts that carelessly rip into a still breathing animal.

Grandin made it more possible for cattle to have one bad moment, not panicked hours in an unknown place. Many farmers care very much for their animals, not simply because they are a source of income, but because it is a moral and humane way of caring for fellow beings, regardless of the final outcome. Farmers rejoice when they have healthy critters to care for.

I prayed and prayed and cried for GOD to find someone to help these cows in a more humane way. This is important. Temple Grandin, as a woman with autism, understands what stress is. people with autism often hate being touched and stress very easily. Cows that are stressed produce meat that is inedible, called dark cutters. The cows can't see the white coats for the same reason humans have proven to not like white coats, it causes stress, high blood pressure, etc. so yes, they are going to die anyway, but why not install a few simple changes to ease stress, and limit waste?!

I eat meat, but I still think that civilisation based on other creatures' suffering is far from being decent. Within next 50 year we will devise an efficient ways of cultivating/breeding artificial meat. And we will be looking at our past with a mixture of disgust, terror and pity.
But for now, people like Ms Grandin make the difference. I personally think that her work had the greatest impact in the history of human kind on alleviating animal suffering. It is really helping those millions of poor creatures to die in more peaceful and dignified way.
I don't think there's a person deserving Nobel Peace Prize more than Temple Grandin.
