Welcome to my channel. Today I'll show you how to make a galaxy tumbler from start to finish, and I'll also give a short run down of (Art Resin's) epoxy resin. It's not a cheap resin, but so far it's the only one that I've been happy with for this kind of application.

Absolutely stunning finish!!
Thanks for the GREAT tutorial and for sharing with us all who want to learn how to cover a tumbler in resin.
(Yours was the 1st tutorial I found and watched. I need not look any further!!) 🙂
Thanks so much for your comment. You’re very welcome. Much easier to make the tumblers when you have the correct information to follow. Thanks again.
Finally, someone who explains thoroughly ugh thank you, sir
Thanks so much Noel Noel 😊
Brilliant video, thank you so much. I have learned such a lot from you, very grateful. You're so clear and this starting from the beginning is exactly what I needed. Thank you :)
Your very welcome, thank you for watching.
I have been working with resin for about 6 months. I have learned more from this video than dozens of other videos combined! And I'm only half thru! The "start to finish" approach is absolutely perfect. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you for your kind words Lisa. Back when I was looking for info on making resin tumblers, I found a lot of videos didn’t explain the steps in detail, which made it confusing and very frustrating when trying it out for myself. It’s good to get straight to the point and not waste people’s time. Thanks again Lisa, I really appreciate it 😊
@PurchaseReviews Well, I thoroughly appreciate you. See, it's fine that there are a lot of different ways to make stainless steel tumblers with resin, but it's nearly impossible to keep track of the order of the many steps it takes to get to where you want to end up. Most videos pick up in the middle of the process, or they leave something out, for example, how long to let your tumbler dry between paint, or resin, or sealer coats. Or when to sand and what to sand. I usually fail a test of time, I often rush my projects, and it never ends well. But other times it's not me rushing things that leads to failure, it's confusion about what to do and when to do it. THANK YOU INFINITY!!!
@@lisaharold5556 I think as creative people, when something doesn’t work out, it really effects us deeply. That’s how I feel when projects don’t work out, so usually I’ll persist until I get it right, but I’ll do it at whatever cost. I can’t stand to give up on something.
@@PurchaseReviews I am the same way. I am getting better at being patient, but the impulse to cut corners and/or rush things is always there!
Thank you so much, for the detailed tutorial. I was needing that. Being a content creator myself on youtube, I have struggled with the tumbler. But I am an all epoxy person, I just do, whatever I feel like, with epoxy. Tumblers drove me crazy, until I got some insight from you. Thanks again.
Greetings Maggy
Thanks Maggy, much appreciated. Hopefully now you get to make the perfect tumbler 😊 thanks again
A lot of helpful tips! Thank you!
@@DinzyLinzy Your welcome, thank you for watching and commenting 😊
Thanks for this awesome tutorial
My pleasure, thank you Parkour Singh 😊
that was the most detailed and simple video on doing a tumbler, thank you good work
Thanks Victor, I’m happy that you found it helpful. Thanks for the feedback 😃
Awesome detailed tutorial! You gave alot of great advice! Thanks!
Thanks for the comment Shauna, you should have read the borderline abusive one I got the other day from someone who hates art. Of course I deleted it. Just shows you can’t always please everyone. Anyway, thank you, I’m so glad it helped you. You have a nice day/night 😊
Dude, I have been having the worst time getting my resin to cooperate on my cups. Three and a half minutes in and you helped me figure it out. I was using the wrong resin! I’ve asked other cup makers, bought a new turner, bought new foam inserts, spent tons of time trying to figure out how it was becoming unlevel (I was getting blobs of resin at the base of my cups), and I couldn’t figure it out. Thank you! Def subscribing
Thanks Tasha, that is exactly what happened to me, and I was seriously about to give up. I poured so much money down the drain 😞 There are no videos that tell you this, so that’s why I decided to make my own once I had finally figured it out. Might make another video on how to make the perfect soy candle, cause that also took me two months to figure out. Thanks again Tasha.
@@PurchaseReviews the resin/tumbler business has sky rocketed here in the states. If you did how to’s or trouble shooting, you’d get your views. Candles are a great idea too. Thanks again and best of luck!
Have you tried tilting your tumbler turner toward bottom of cup to get some of the glob on the bottom to fall off so it can spin out
This was very interesting. Will try to make this soon
Thanks Jaden, yes, definitely have a go, it’s a a great little side hobby to have 😀
Great tutorial I want to start doing resin and was curious how to do cups. You explained it perfectly and made it look so easy thank you. 😊
Thank you Donna. The right equipment and instructions does make it a lot easier. They are also very satisfying to make. I hope your first tumbler also turns out well 😊
@@PurchaseReviews thank you.
I need to start doing stuff like this.
way to go- that is great …… can’t wait to try my 1st tumbler. i’ve already had a little trouble with my white base primer coat not finishing evenly. tried not to spray too much or too close
If you follow exactly what I’m doing in the video you will absolutely have a perfect first tumbler 👍🏻 Thanks for your comment 😊
Great video! Simple yet detailed!
Thanks Amy, Much appreciated feedback 😊
Beautiful. Thank you.
Thank you Karen.
Lovely results!
Thanks Nikkia, took quite a lot of time to finally find out how to do it, but is very satisfying when the cups all turn out perfectly now 😊
@@PurchaseReviews The extra time was worth it.
Awesome video. Thank you for the detailed instructions. I recently retired from the Army after 27 years and am looking for a hobby. Can you tell me if tumblers are dishwasher safe? Thank you.
G'day John. Thank you for your service. Once the tumblers are epoxied they cant go into the dishwasher, or be exposed to high temperatures eg.. inside a car on a hot day.. They can only be hand-washed. Saying that though, the epoxy on tumblers are still very durable. It's a great hobby, but I find candle making better for profits. I hope that info helps. Thanks again John.
Loved your channel. You described it so nicely step by step. Have you ever taken for example a plain white dinner plate with a raise edge. Then decorate the inside of it. Next applied resin to it. How would you cover it with the resin? I don’t know if you can with the outer edge raised up. I want to cover the whole dish with resin. Thanks in advance for your help.
G’day, thanks Karen. That sounds like an interesting idea. You would have to come up with something to stop the un-cured resin falling back into the middle of the plate. Maybe it could be done by laying a smaller secondary plate on top, and sealing it with silicone, and then pour in the resin. Once cured, then cut around the silicone with a sharp knife and remove the smaller secondary plate 🤔 maybe that would work.
I appreciate you taking time to respond and give me a suggestion.
@@karenrichardson2101 My pleasure, no problem at all 😊
Is putting the cup in the spinning machine important? Where do I get the machine? Thank you, you did a great job
Hi McKenna, thank you. Yes, it’s very important, cause otherwise the epoxy will dry unevenly leaving the tumbler finish looking uneven. Here are where you can find the turners. Hope this helps.

It's so expensive 🥲, do you have an idea I can make at home that works?
work the same work tumbler
@@MckennaGaming I found one for $12

Otherwise just have to turn it manually every few minutes for an hour or so. Would be very time consuming. Can use basically a stick wrapped in toweling to grip inside the cup while turning, that would work too.
@@PurchaseReviews Thank u 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing this video with us. It’s very helpful. I made couple but didn’t get the effects I wanted. Your tumbler looked smooth before applying resin. Is scrubbing with sand paper is required? Please advice
Thanks for your comment Nileena. Yes, sanding is an important step cause it helps create a rough surface. Painted metal which hasn’t been sanded will be more prone to peeling and flaking. It’s a very fine grit sandpaper that creates an optimal surface for paint adhesion 😀
Thanks!!
Your welcome 😉
Beautiful 😊👍🏾
😊 Thanks. It’s a bit of a process, but I find this way works the best.
Once you have all your alcohol inks on and first coat of resin, what can you do if you have some bubbles that are on the cured resin? Sand and do another coat, just do another coat? Loved your video!
Thank you so much 😊 Yes, that’s exactly what you do, as long as it’s completely dry before you sand it. I’ve had to do the same thing before. At times tumblers can be an unpredictable and frustrating process. I’ll check mine sometimes and there will be a random hair, or huge piece of dust cemented in it, haha very annoying indeed. Thanks
I want to do the same thing on a cup , but on the inside, would this manual technik be good also?
That could work, not sure though, I’ve never tried that before. You can always try and see what happens.
Do you have to sand the resin between each coats? I used glitter and after the epoxy dried it fells rough do I need to sand it before adding another coat of epoxy?
Hi Stacee, you can, although it’s not necessary. If you use larger granule glitter then you’ll need a few coats on top before it smooths out. I’m only using very fine glitter, so that I don’t have to do anymore than two coats. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for your video, 10.000 better then those girls that talk a bunch a nonsense and I get lost and can’t focus mid video! I was getting so manny fish eyes on my first and second tumbler, 3rd one was good, 4th and 5th,] full of fish eyes, think I need that Modge podge! That might do the trick!
Hahaha thanks nerdnurse, I’m guessing your a nurse? Same here. Yes, I notice they talk a bunch, and never go through the steps properly, or tell you the difference between doming and casting resins. If you do exactly what I do on the video, you will always have perfect tumblers. Main thing is just to take your time, no rush. Thanks again for the feedback 😘
Any tips to make these dishwasher friendly?
Hi Anthony, I wouldn’t have a clue on how to do that. If I find out I’ll let you know.
Where did u buy the rubber rings for the bottom of the tumbler to keep it from getting scratched
G’day Peter, I got them off Ali Express
www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003308635733.html
Can I use the same toturial but using a glass cup?
Hi Nurul, I’ve never tried that before, so I wouldn’t know if it would work or not.
So you use 16ml of art resin each coat?
Hi Ambie, yes I do, that’s only cause the stuff costs so much. You can use 20ml no problem, but I’m just trying to get my money’s worth.
@@PurchaseReviews I understand thank you!!
Do you sand your tumblers?
I don’t sand between coats unless I really have to. If you make a mistake you can always wait for the tumbler to completely dry, then sand it back before applying another coat of epoxy. The only time I usually sand is before applying the spray paint.
@Purchase Reviews Thanks for that information. I really like how this video is a simple step by step process ✨️ 😌
@@akabuwarria4784 No worries, thank you for your comment.
How long do you wait in between coats?
Hi Lisa, I normally wait up to 4 hours before I put the next coat on. When applying the second coat you may want to heat up the resin in your cup slightly with a hairdryer, so it’s easier to apply. It should just glide on when applying. Drying times for the main tumbler can vary depending on the weather, but I’ve found 3-4 hours to be a safe time to apply the next coat. Hope that helps, ask any questions any time, I’m happy to help.
I also love your Australian accent... I can't find your name here. What is it?
Haha, thanks, it’s pretty common to sound like that here, I only realize how bad us Aussies sound when I come back from overseas. I’ve got to be articulate in speaking, otherwise nobody will be able to understand what the hell I’m talking about. My name is Hayo.
Are you from the US? Majority of people that watch this video are from there.
@PurchaseReviews
Hayo? I have never heard of that name, but I like it. Family name? Nickname?
I am in the state of New Hampshire, USA. Please don't ever worry about your voice. It is extremely pleasant and lovely to listen to. I think everyone hates their voice when they hear it on tape. I am in the state of New Hampshire, USA. That's in the northeast. I guess you're about a million miles, give or take a few hundred thousand, from me. Were you born there? I'm curious, do you, and if so, how do you, earn money for your wonderful videos? I have only seen one, and it is invaluable. That word always sounds bad to me, but it ain't, "mate"... I can imagine how sick to damn death you are of hearing THAT word. 😢. Well, it is 9:10 AM here, so it's time to make some resin magic! Thanks again, Hayo!!!
@@lisaharold5556 Yep, that’s a long long way from Melbourne, Australia. I was born in the Netherlands, so that’s how I got my name. It means “moon over water”, at least that’s what I was told. I’ll take that interpretation though. I like the sound of it. Yes, at the moment through You Tube and affiliate marketing with Amazon I earn around $130-140 AUD a month. I’m happy with that, as it’s just a bit of a side hustle. I don’t have one particular niche yet cause I’m into so many different things, so I’m mainly doing product reviews and how to videos. It’s just a hobby and a creative outlet for me when I’m not busy with Nursing. I might make a video on how to start marketing on You Tube. Enjoy your day today. It’s 23:22hrs here, so it’s my bedtime. Thanks so much Lisa.
Did you add alcohol ink to the white resin
Hi Julia, the resin is white because of the drops of white alcohol ink I added. Initially it’s just clear plain resin before I added anything. Hope that helps. You can ask me any question about this project if it helps you. Thanks
Thank you for sharing. This has to be by far one of the best and to the point Tutorials. 👍
Thanks so much Rachel, very much appreciated. Yes, I like to get straight to the point. I also did a recent video on the perfect soy candle. Thanks again for watching 😊
