My Parents slept in separate beds. My Dad screamed all night when I was growing up. He never mentioned why even when asked. I didn't know until I saw his scars when I was about 35. He had a Japanese bayonet in the gut on Iwo Jima. I had no idea. He was 17 when that happened.
If you have PTSD, you will burst out into random fits of rage, that are involuntary. I know people who have PTSD, and alot of their PTSD outburst are not their fault. Nowadays, courts would dismiss PTSD outburst crimes, if it was shown that the cause was PTSD.

Ptsd is a severe post traumatic event where when you get triggered, (gunshots, etc.) You get intense flashbacks which makes you think you're still in the war. This is also related to dissociative personality syndrome which triggers his war experiences therefore makes him think his wife is the enemy therefore killing her. So you can't really consider it murder, it's manslaughter. I'm sure he didn't intentionally do it, there's a separate definition between intentional and accidental which in his case is unintentional due to his ptsd. Also, remember it may be sorrow that he killed his own wife, but he went through 20 YEARS of torture and pain. I don't really want to say this but highly doubt that she felt even more pain than he went through, even if not stating again he didn't intentionally do it, it's because of a certain mental disease which triggered this.

Wow this awful his poor wife. Lots of Vets in denial. I dated a vet and he did not want to get help he kept insisting he was just fine. He shot a Vietnamese women and her two children and kept telling people about it. I think that that alone would make someone want to get help. I walked away from the relationship cuz I was afraid of his moods and I was afraid that he could be aggressive and sadistic. At some point you have to stop being the victim and take charge and get help I don't think that is an excuse to kill someone

PTSD isnt something easily alleviated, its a mental issue. Comes in many different shapes and sizes, not every veteran has the same PTSD problem, some cry during their PTSD episode, some blurt out things they did, some dont even know where they are, and some just take the easy way out. Even if they have ways to cope, they still have to deal eith their PTSD breakdowns, which is comepletely randomized or triggered by certain things, where some cases you cant do much about it until it ends. Vietnam vets had it rough, rougher at the end when the whole country treated them like shit, a lot of hem went homeless, called monsters.

PTSD wasn't a term back then. He also admitted to killing his wife and pleaded for insanity which helped lower his sentence. Imagine if he tried to cover it up, he probably would've been serving a life sentence.

Honestly I only got assaulted and choked and threatened with a pen. She was gonna stab me with it. I was never in war so I can only imagine what they went through. In the first few days after I would drink to excess and play music constantly or watch movies coz I couldn’t switch off my brain. It was like a video recording playing from start to finish over and over like it was on repeat. Alcohol music and movies helped but I couldn’t really focus coz all I would see was that woman high on drugs and my life on a thread. I hated her. I tried to find her and wanted to kill her. Imagined how I would hurt her. Slowly and painfully like she’d made my life. But after about 15 yrs I realised that I was being the victim and all those thoughts were fruitless. But being in that state of anger. If anyone had tried to assault me or I thought they were going to, I wouldn’t have hesitated to lash out and kill them to protect myself. So would it have been my fault? I went to every psychologist I could. They said I wasn’t sick enough to have government help. I was on medication but I know for a fact if someone would have attacked me back then I would have put my thumbs in their eyes and destroyed them. Killed them with a knife I used to carry for defence. Would it be my fault if it was some young person? I don’t know. I was a 24 yr old girl then. And then I lost 3 grandparents in one year and lost my job coz I couldn’t handle it anymore. And a year later I had my first child. Life has never been the same. I have bipolar disorder but that’s no excuse. I fight hard daily to be happy. Life is never giving up. Showing your children that life is great if you want it to be. I fight coz life is worth being happy.

You are an idiot, soldiers dont get to sleep in beds all the time. Take the Pacific Front and the Western Front, some times you had to sleep in a trench in the dark, no lights and no talking too loud as your enemy was never far away. In the darkness, even an allied soldier who was simply trying to wake a soldier up to replace them on guard duty could be killed by accident by the soldier in a moment of panic. Its just the premise that you could be in immediate danger the moment you wake. Again with the Pacific Front, the sides were so close to each other that they could quite literally collide with each other when running through the bushes, your body collides with someone and you quickly realize they are not your ally and they are trying to kill you. You don't know who they are, you just know you dont want to die. As the man said, a knife doesn't run out of ammo, a knife doesn't jam and most importantly, he as a soldier kept a knife under his pillow. He simply did what he always did and in a moment of panic, he killed his wife, admitting to the stabbing to the 911 operator. He didn't lie about what happened, usually if you do something that you never intended to do, you say exactly what happened. He wasn't a murderer who wanted to kill his wife, he even said that he didn't get help for PTSD, which meant that he was still in a dangerous headspace. There is that movie quote: J.E (Job Enlister): Didn't the army teach you anything useful? - US.M (U.S Marine): They taught me how to kill Japs, and i got very good at it.
That’s what ptsd does. It changes things big time. The nightmares you have are so real. They bring you back to that same battlefield. It’s like your in reality back in that place. It changes people. Military Vets do have an advantage when applying for work. Yes, there is an issue of mental disorders in military vets, as a lot of stuff done for the military can be very demoralizing, along with destructive to your mental health, but therapy, and medication can help alleviate it, to make you a functional being in society. Take politicans for example, many are military vets, along with police, fire fighters, etc.

And people who have been to a major war have a high chance of having participated in torturing and rapping civilians to death. On top of that, police officers' personal relationships tend to suffer because of their damanding job. And a lot of officers end up being nut jobs with a huge sense of authority over civilians, and if they please they will abuse their partners because they know they will most likely get away with it 95% of the time. They are already above the law with strangers. They certainly have no qualms pushing the limits with their partners. So it's a risk either way you slice it.

PTSD wasn't a term back then. He also admitted to killing his wife and pleaded for insanity which helped lower his sentence. Imagine if he tried to cover it up, he probably would've been serving a life sentence.

He is my uncle and he was a great man to our family, I’m not trying to justify what he did and neither did he. I love that man and he had helped me through out my entire life, he passed away last year and I miss him a lot.

He had a flashback. Thought He was back in Nam doing His job.3 tours are 3 to many. I also am 100 percent PTSD. And it really sucks. And there's no cure.
Honestly I only got assaulted and choked and threatened with a pen. She was gonna stab me with it. I was never in war so I can only imagine what they went through. In the first few days after I would drink to excess and play music constantly or watch movies coz I couldn’t switch off my brain. It was like a video recording playing from start to finish over and over like it was on repeat. Alcohol music and movies helped but I couldn’t really focus coz all I would see was that woman high on drugs and my life on a thread. I hated her. I tried to find her and wanted to kill her. Imagined how I would hurt her. Slowly and painfully like she’d made my life. But after about 15 yrs I realised that I was being the victim and all those thoughts were fruitless. But being in that state of anger. If anyone had tried to assault me or I thought they were going to, I wouldn’t have hesitated to lash out and kill them to protect myself. So would it have been my fault? I went to every psychologist I could. They said I wasn’t sick enough to have government help. I was on medication but I know for a fact if someone would have attacked me back then I would have put my thumbs in their eyes and destroyed them. Killed them with a knife I used to carry for defence. Would it be my fault if it was some young person? I don’t know. I was a 24 yr old girl then. And then I lost 3 grandparents in one year and lost my job coz I couldn’t handle it anymore. And a year later I had my first child. Life has never been the same. I have bipolar disorder but that’s no excuse. I fight hard daily to be happy. Life is never giving up. Showing your children that life is great if you want it to be. I fight coz life is worth being happy.

Perpetual hatred and rage, drives you into madness. I have Borderline Personality Disorder. But things people consider an excuse or not is something I dislike because of the ambiguity. There are honestly far too many things that people say are inexcusable.
Things like someone saying "I have autism and borderline and I started attacking my friend out of nowhere, because of [insert reasons]."
And then someone replying "I have autism and borderline and I don't do that, so it's not an excuse."
Do you get what I mean? It's so different for everyone. Just because you have the same diagnoses as someone else who fucked up in a way you wouldn't, doesn't mean everything applies the same for everyone. Everyone is different, even those who have all the same diagnoses. People just love comparing themselves to those who messed up and show that they're better than them, just for not having dealt with the same issues.

A few probably do, there are probably less then the Americans though since the Americans were fighting against guerrillas (for the most part) and because they had also killed a lot of civilians (which of course we cannot blame them that much for due to the circumstances)

You are an idiot, soldiers dont get to sleep in beds all the time. Take the Pacific Front and the Western Front, some times you had to sleep in a trench in the dark, no lights and no talking too loud as your enemy was never far away. In the darkness, even an allied soldier who was simply trying to wake a soldier up to replace them on guard duty could be killed by accident by the soldier in a moment of panic. Its just the premise that you could be in immediate danger the moment you wake. Again with the Pacific Front, the sides were so close to each other that they could quite literally collide with each other when running through the bushes, your body collides with someone and you quickly realize they are not your ally and they are trying to kill you. You don't know who they are, you just know you dont want to die. As the man said, a knife doesn't run out of ammo, a knife doesn't jam and most importantly, he as a soldier kept a knife under his pillow. He simply did what he always did and in a moment of panic, he killed his wife, admitting to the stabbing to the 911 operator. He didn't lie about what happened, usually if you do something that you never intended to do, you say exactly what happened. He wasn't a murderer who wanted to kill his wife, he even said that he didn't get help for PTSD, which meant that he was still in a dangerous headspace. There is that movie quote: J.E (Job Enlister): Didn't the army teach you anything useful? - US.M (U.S Marine): They taught me how to kill Japs, and i got very good at it.
That’s what ptsd does. It changes things big time. The nightmares you have are so real. They bring you back to that same battlefield. It’s like your in reality back in that place. It changes people. With a ptsd attack your wife is suddenly not your wife. She’s an enemy soldier holding a gun and pointing it at you. The best I can compare it to is schizophrenia

Military Vets do have an advantage when applying for work. Yes, there is an issue of mental disorders in military vets, as a lot of stuff done for the military can be very demoralizing, along with destructive to your mental health, but therapy, and medication can help alleviate it, to make you a functional being in society. Take politicans for example, many are military vets, along with police, fire fighters, etc.

I was a soldier and also deployed but I don't get how these guys get PTSD. Now I have a daughter and I would never try to hurt her regardless what happened in the past to me.
I never lived that lifestyle, But my Grandfather was in 1st Marine recon and did 6 tours to Vietnam. He's never had PTSD according to him my grandmother and the VA he's the nicest person just has a switch to turn it on and off. I think some PTSD is being used as a free past.

The wife knowing he had ptsd lets him keep a weapon under his pillow im a man but if I was the wife I would remove the weapons at night when hes asleep cause you never know one day he could have a realistic nightmare and wakes up quick grabbing the knife slashing around hes gonna hurt you or kill you in that quick blackout he's having and when someone wakes up quick your brain is still kind of in a dreaming state for like 3 - 15 seconds depending on the person that's why alot of people wake up confused for a few seconds like when I wake up my brother quick he stays lost for like 15 seconds then he starts loading up his brain and fully wakes up

@@argamingthomson8234 Yeah, but keep in mind, people in the military have a high chance of being rapped by their own fellow soldiers. And people who have been to a major war have a high chance of having participated in torturing and rapping civilians to death.
On top of that, police officers' personal relationships tend to suffer because of their damanding job. And a lot of officers end up being nut jobs with a huge sense of authority over civilians, and if they please they will abuse their partners because they know they will most likely get away with it 95% of the time. They are already above the law with strangers. They certainly have no qualms pushing the limits with their partners.
So it's a risk either way you slice it.
