It is true. I struggled with the Old Testament through 3 readings, for many, many years, until I found Rabbi Jason. Now I’m reading it like a professor, going from New Testament to OT. I’m getting to know Yeshua/Jesus again in the Old Testament and profoundly. 🙏♥️
The scene you're discussing hit me hard. About 17 years ago I had this issue for only 8 months and I didn't want to go on living. I was weak, it was humiliating when accidents happened, and made me feel dirty all the time, no matter how often I showered. I ended up having to have a hysterectomy to stop it, which finished the dream of ever having children. Veronica's portrayal was so personal to me. (I know it was worse back in those times, without running water and feminine products, but still I related to it.) I cried when she touched the tassels on his tunic. The Chosen writers have a divinely inspired way of communicating their message, I believe. God bless all involved with this project. It has blessed my Christian walk immensely.
@AlpacaRenee I went through the same thing with endometriosis. Only I had already had three children, so was happy and anxious to get rid of this bleeding. The Chosen did a wonderful job with this scene. ❤
I was just as the woman with the issue of blood with a flow for over 6 years and was told it was fibroids then a cyst on my ovary. And rather than removing the cyst or fibroids was only offered a full hysterectomy which I denied and fought doctors because I wanted more children. It was a long hard fight that kept getting harder so that scene in The Chosen was very big for me. However, every scene in the Chosen id very Big for Me. GOD bless everyone involved with the making of this show... It has truly changed my life.
I wonder what it will be like when The Chosen is released into Israel - Jerusalem - and they see Yeshua in His Jewishness - my gosh, what will happen??? I love hearing Rabbi Jason. Agree, Sam, that hearing him describe Joseph revealing his identity grabbed my heart, so amazing. Thank you for this wonderful video!
I missed this discussion when I was at ChosenCon. Glad I could see this video. My Dad had someone tell him once that we should get rid of the old testament (I'm currently reading Deuteronomy but when I get to the New Testament I'm tempted to make a Facebook post pointing out all the times it refers to the old and how a lot of the New Testament wouldn't make sense without the Old testament).
I was in that room... The 5 of you having that conversation was a highlight of the weekend for me. Everyone's hearts seemed so aligned. Rabbi Sobel chanting was unforgettable. I'm only following and learning from you, Sam and Dr. Tom, and also from Rabbi Jason, because of The Chosen.
I absolutely love the way you discuss this incredible series. It makes such a welcome change from those who criticize continually without even watching it. I am always thrilled, uplifted and grateful to be able to see the Bible come to life in such a radical way!
I love this video. I admire Jewish people, their bravery, faith, peacefulness and tenacity. Speaking as a Christian, I consider Jewish people to be my brothers and sisters ❤❤❤
This Gentile loves watching you guys, and I'm struck by how the moments from the show that most affect you often affect me the most as well, particularly Veronica's healing. I'm so thankful that we have a loving God who came into His creation as Christ to make us all be brothers (for eternity!) in Him.
Can't understand NT (upgraded covenant) properly without correctly understanding the OT. By asking Yah for biblical understanding (eyes and ears wanting) I had no idea how much OT and NT errors He was going to undo to now have it all match up Gen-Rev. Appreciate you brothers
Love this reaction video to your reactions at Chosen-Con! Thanks as always you two. Fun, informative and some beautiful takeaways as we remember until with distinction and praying the Psalms.
The emotions witnessed are amazing because the Triune power of God is so strong and evident throughout the words of truth, the love of acceptance, and the healing manifestation.
Beautiful, thank you so much for this. I realized just recently that the Psalms was my way to pray and not feel embarrased by my own words. Shalom Shalom ❤
THANK YOU so much for sharing this. I wanted to go so bad but was not able to. I HATE missing out!! And I know I did! Love you guys! Bless you guys! So grateful for you guys!
The cross represents the two commandments. The vertical beam connects earth with heaven. The redemption of man to God. The horizontal beam represents the embrace of mankind. Reconciling mankind to each other. He was literally crucified upon the laws and His blood paid for our redemption and our unity.
Im so glad you did this video. I was there for this & what a way to kick off Chosen Con. It set the tone for the whole weekend for me. Rabbi's prayer at the end should be played over & over. It was inspiring.
We were in the room for this! Love seeing this and hearing the discussion again! So encouraging to have felt the unity of that entire weekend! Thanks for your part of making it so special!
I have always thought that the most beautiful gift of the Bible is that it shows God's character, without saying, "This is God's character," followed by a list. A person reading the Word with all their heart comes to know about his character in a felt way, the Biblical "knowing" way. Similarly, The Chosen manages to communicate Yeshua's character in a way that resounds with what we have learned in scripture. No "list" is needed.
What a great analogy of Joseph uncovering his Jewishness to his brothers and how it's related to Yeshua revealing himself to our Jewish brothers and sisters.
What was hard about the scene where the guy threw the clothes back at Veronica because he saw her bleeding was when he said now he has to go down to the river and cleanse because she was unclean and she responded “ that must be very difficult for you” when it was just an inconvenience for him. It was more difficult for her going through what she was going through. It was such a difficult culture during that time especially for women.
Could you answer a question: Why is the “Insight Tracts” not a part of the special edition of The Chosen DVD sets? I absolutely LOVED it in the first season and it helped me SO MUCH to understand Jewish culture, definitions of different things, etc. I was wondering if you knew why they no longer do that. It really disappointed me.
As my mama always said….that doesn’t make it right. Scripture doesn’t say “don’t add to my words unless it’s for the sake of entertainment or a good laugh/cry.”
10:10 you, dramatic??? lol. I think it’s so beautiful when she slowly falls to the ground in a last ditch effort to reach just the “fringe” of his garment; and she doesn’t even fully grasp it, her hand/fingers just lightly brush the fringe; but that was all it took. And it really wasn’t that, as He said. It was her faith. 😊😢❤
Several of the actors in THE CHOSEN are Jewish in real life. I love all the actors portrayals in this story. Rabbi Jason Sobel has written several great books on the Messiah and what the words and numbers represent in both the New and Old Testament.
Thank you! I have a Jewish question about the Chosen. Studying Revelation intensely for two years, it has become increasingly obvious to me how very Jewish Revelation is. I suspect that this may even be the most Jewish book of the Bible. Central to the themes of Revelation would be the torah, the covenant, the ark of the covenant, the Levitical feasts, the plagues, the firstborn sons, the exodus, the Mount Sinai event, the crossing of the Red Sea, Joshua's entering the promised land and setting up 12 and 12 stones for the 24 thrones of the elders (the 12 disciples to the Jews who've been promised 12 thrones plus 12 thrones for disciples to the Gentiles, including Paul), the 7 trumpets and Jericho as a type of Babylon, the overwhelming majority of the psalms and prophets including tribulation exiles that mirror the original exiles, Esther and Mordecai as the Two Witnesses who battle against Haman as the Antichrist, and just a ton of relevant stuff from Hebrews. Because the Levitical feasts are so overwhelmingly important to Revelation and not very detailed in the Word, this Gentile went searching and reading and digging into Jewish traditions. I was absolutely shocked by the first book I read and how many holes in my understanding of Revelation it filled so very perfectly! Wow. But let me stop myself now that I've already gone on too long! I noticed in Season 4 for the first time, though he's surely been there all along, that Rabbi Akiva is a famous rabbi of the Talmud and starring in the Chosen as a Pharisee, and I believe a member of the Sanhedrin, who is working hard to indict Christ. My question is: do we know either of these to be true of the historic Rabbi Akiva? Was he a member of the Sanhedrin? Was he actively seeking to indict Christ? Thanks!
Why are Gentiles Drawn to Jewish Jesus? Because He speaks to our souls. At no point in History has there been a time when Jews really got along with other religious people. When Jesus Blessed the Earth, He blessed Israel, and made His own Prophecies to Israel come true. Israel needs the Christian community to bless Israel. We encourage Israel every day that we stand by their sides, and pray for them.
I really enjoy the content. I am, of course, a huge Chosen fan. But what do you think about the backlash of people saying it's a bad thing? I have seen enough "if the world loves it then run" statements to fill me with nausea. The "world" doesn't love The Chosen. People hungry for Yeshua love the Chosen. My first instinct in this backlash is an indication that The Chosen must be doing something right because it making the enemy uncomfortable. Some of these people go as far as saying it is a violation of the 2nd Commandment. Yeah... that it is idolatry. What? There was no backlash like this when the Jesus of Nazareth mini series aired on TV in the late 70's. ( I have watched it many times ). Of course that was scrubbed of much of Yeshua's "jewishness". It portrayed the typical white european with blue eyes that most people in the United States still identify with. Even that portrayal had its measure of non Biblical dialogue. Yet no one went nuts over it the way I see on UA-cam DAILY. I don't get it. What do all of you think about this disturbing behavior from people that should want people to know Yeshua. Is it self righteousness? Is it legalism? The Book of John says that Yeshua did other things and they were not written down. And then says that perhaps the whole world could not contain the volumes if they had be written. What does that say? It says that the Bible does not contain everything Yeshua did or even said. Hmmmm... Doesn't that nuke the popular argument that "if it isn't in the Bible, I don't believe it". Wow. And it gets said quite often. Again I don't understand this backlash. Can anyone make sense of it?
I can speak from my own perspective about why the show is so cringe. As soon as I heard that the title of the show was a reference to the Disciples instead of a reference to Jesus as the Chosen or Appointed One I knew immediately the show was about Humanism and the human experience, not the “authentic” Jesus who was simultaneously divine and human. Many of the people who were gushing about the show admitted they were enamored by His humanity and the intense emotionalism (sensuality) that the show elicits. Essentially, people are drawn to this show because they are drawn to themselves in Him, not because they are drawn to who He really is as God. (cringey cringe) The unpopular truth is that this show is a soap opera promoting humanism and sensuality simply using the Disciples and Bible stories as its basis to make it seem acceptable. The bottom line is that humanism is as far from Christianity as one can get because it points to humanity, not God. And the “world” is definitely flocking to it for that very reason. Even Whoopi Goldberg embraces it. The Bible - points to God The Chosen - points to man If there was ever a time to not be ashamed of the true (and whole) Gospel of Jesus Christ and stand up for the real Christ, it’s now. (Insert backlash)
Woven through both Testaments of YHWH, the first, then the final one, the Constitution of YHWH's Kingdom is there. There is a Declaration of Independence from Sin and Death articulated in the historical documentation of witnesses, as HaMashiach He clarifies the New and Final Amendment to YHWH's Kingdom. Yeshua provides additions to His mitzvot's for those who would follow Hm to be a talmudim, that love/ahavat Him, the fellow talmudim and even their enemies. We are the citizens of a Sovereign how's Kingdom has been here since time began and will reign for eternity.
I've any times heard the phrase, "The blood of the Martyrs is the Seed of the church". Then, Charlemagne changed that, getting rid of a lot of the Jewishness of Jesus and the early church. But in the back of my mind, I always wondered if Satan didn't say to himself, "Well, if I can't kill them them, I'll just infiltrate them from the inside." Just my opinion.
Nothing. People are going to differ on whether they find The Chosen acceptable, and that’s okay. Whether to watch the show or not is not an issue of salvation.
9:20 so the unity you seek is the unity of diversity in thought and culture rather than unity in Christ alone. That is called Humanism but I certainly see its appeal though.
I think the people that don’t like the chosen don’t know scripture or biblical times well enough and also have gotten used to British portrayals and where there is no added scenes to make it flow and it just goes from scripture to to scripture.
The Chosen is about experiencing humanity The Bible is about experiencing God. It seems to me that those who know scripture understand the discrepancy here.
@@beesinthegardens What are you talking about? He does not have Mary renouncing or negating her faith at all. I do not understand your mindset. She is the new Arc of the Covenent for God! What did the original Arc house? Mary did so as well. That's the opposite of renouncing one's faith!
I think Jesus was portrayed beautifully, up til this season. I think the newest season has portrayed him as self pitying and weak. I get that he is feeling alone let down by everyone, but He is the Son of God. As a human, of course he would have those moments. This season he's been stuck in it.
