Jonathan's portrayal of Jesus is so special. He has made Jesus an 'everyday man who laughed, danced, joked with his friends and loved his mother'.

In 2004 as a young Christian I asked God how He felt about people who rejected His message and turned away from Him. One hour later three huge, intense waves of extremely deep grief washed over me, lasting at least half an hour. I have never before or since ever, felt that massive amount of personal grief. Every last tear in my body flowed out and my nasal passages also ran dry. What happened? I simply asked the Lord how He felt about those who rejected Him. He gave me an extremely graphic and personal answer one hour later. He doesn't want to lose one precious soul to the enemy and grieves deeply for each lost one. Ps, My tee shirt was soaked with my tears and my spaghetti dinner went cold. Ask the Lord into your life, He loves each one, and sheds tears over the lost. Your life will never be the same again, He will bless, guide, strengthen and protect every one of his precious children. I know, I experienced His immense grief over personal rejection. He longs to see your face, not your back. Please don't dissapoint Him, you will never regret that first step in His direction. God bless you. 😇

I am really amazed at how The Chosen is praised by Catholics and Protestants both. As a faithful Catholic revert - having spent 8 years as a Presbyterian and still grateful for that time - and having spent years studying now, all of us Christians need to set aside our differences. Not that the differences are unimportant - they are very important to discuss openly and honestly. But in this evil day we need to unite in our Love for Christ and FIGHT the evil all around us.
Even on this forum I find Christians lying about what each other believe... ENOUGH! Listen to each other! LOVE one another as Christ loves you!

    • @trinityespejo119
      @trinityespejo119 2 роки тому +20

Is not set apart your differences but Jesus clearly says you will know them by their fruits. He also says in Matthew 25 that many will come and say, Lord in Your name we did this and did that but Jesus will respond, Depart from Me I do not know You! Jesus is looking for hearts willing to obey Him. He is looking for a relationship with Him. He want people Truly to get to know Him.
John 14:15: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” He wants obedience and obedience to His bible word.
Matthew 15:8-9 These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their hearts is far from Me.

Jonathan's portrayal of Jesus, in my humble opinion, is beyond phenomenal. His eyes are everything! Everything that Jesus feels is in Jonathan's eyes. The scene where Jesus talks with Nicodemus and the scene with Little James. Watch those scenes and watch Jonathan's eyes. His mouth is speaking the lines, but his eyes convey the love and compassion that Jesus surely felt for all of humanity, especially those in his inner circle.

The phariseeism in me(the little that I didn't know was still there lol) withheld me from watching The Chosen until a few weeks ago when the Holy Spirit led me to watch it and Jonathan's performance confirmed it. So true what you're saying about his eyes! Of course NO ONE could even match Jesus, but you can truly see the love of God in Jonathan's eyes. It is so clear that God's Hand is in this.
I've watched a few interviews and videos with Dallas and their sincerity and humility is so obvious.
Many, many people have stated that The Chosen led them to read their Bibles. While I was already deep into the Word, The Chosen has brought to me a newfound humility that I cannot explain and brings me to tears.
God is SO GRACIOUS AND SO MERCIFUL!
I'm very grateful for this project of Dallas, Jonathan, and team.

Jonathan is just a man like the rest of us. His portrayal of Jesus is nice in my opinion, but of course nothing to the real Jesus. Again in my opinion, I stress Jesus was completely different in his looks and authority. When he spoke to you, you really knew that authority exuded from him. When you know something, or someone is it not a fact? So is it not a fact that you yourself exist. Similar in many ways, but not in many other ways.

The day we truely cry out to Jesus Christ in repentance, and acknowledge that His work on the cross was more then enough to atone for our sin, then we will realize we can speak to Him DIRECTLY, and commune with Him daily. Being Born Again is an amazing supernatural miracle that occurs one time, and the day His grace comes upon us, we will be Born of the blessed Holy Spirit. I had my “born again” experience many years ago in 1991. I walked into the confessional one way and came out another, forever changed and touched by the fire of God’s love. I repented of my sins and gave my life to Jesus and became a new person in him, my life forever changed. I walked out saying and believing in my heart, “Jesus is Lord”. Suddenly, it all came together for me, his death on the cross for us and who he was and it began a lifelong quest of seeking him and getting to know him and changing my whole focus. About 6 months ago, I was on the train and ended up in a conversation with a lapsed Catholic who actually was now an atheist. He began to gather after speaking to me that my faith was very important to me and he made the statement, are you born again or something to that effect. When I answered yes and then he found out that I was also Catholic, he insisted on saying that I was not and that it was impossible to be Catholic and born again! It was an intense hour ride, started off okay as we began to talk politics. He was very passionate but once he found out I was Conservative, his demeanor towards me changed dramatically and then once religión came into our conversation, well that was it! Kind of sad as he felt like he was the authority in all these subjects and claimed he loves talking to people but once he found out my views were a bit different, well that sure changed things! You can absolutely be Catholic and be born again. There is no other way to describe what I experienced.

@@rosamariann I agree with you totally on the term "born again Catholic" because it's what I feel has been happening to me in the last few months. Probably due to the pandemic, it's made me grow closer to God. It's an incredible feeling. One moment Im just going through the motions and doing the bare minimum, not living a fully God centered life, and doing as I please, making it easy for the devil to keep tricking me. Now I try to actually and truly honor God in everything I do, like my life is a prayer. I can see sin more clearly (our culture is full of it.) And the Holy Spirit has given me lenses to truly understand scripture in my daily bible readings (before scripture just overwhelmed me.) I thank God He has let me live long enough to go through this "conversion" in my lifetime, before it's too late to repent and fully accept Jesus Christ with all my heart. I can relate to everything Jonathan says. Feeling called, being raised Catholic, questioning my faith, searching for guidance and returning to Jesus and God more closely than ever. I also experienced clinical depression and anxiety throughout this period of time. I prayed when I didn’t know if I still believed in anything and God never failed me. My path was changed for the better because I was open and listened for God during my pain. I believe that He places opportunities in our path, but we must listen and choose them. I can’t say I am Catholic anymore, but fully Christian and able to help others with their mental health and spiritual journeys. I feel blessed. Thank you Jonathan for your wise words.

Why are we praying to others when Jesus makes it clear to us. That got me. I asked Leaders and pastors that are not Christians. That scares me because my whole family are Catholics.

The Bible is truth: The truth sets us free of false religion and man made practices. Seek God don’t doubt what He’s already illuminating to you through His word. Keep reading the Bible keep praying. He will reveal more and more to you and He will help you discern truth from error. There’s a lot of error out there. We are in the perilous times the Bible warned about. Cling to Jesus and His word don’t let anyone try to talk you out of what God is revealing to you and teaching you. You can trust the Bible not a denomination or people. Trust God only. He is faithful. Share the scriptures with your family and pray for them. It’s not an easy road but the Lord is faithful to those who trust and believe in Him and pities those who fear Him. We will pray for you dear Nancy. Be strong in the Lord. Take courage. It’s a wonderful thing He opened your eyes! Rejoice! Praise Him! So many people read the scriptures but still are spiritually blind and don’t see that the religious practices they are tangled up in are false! How blessed you truely are! We must always worship and serve God according to the scriptures. Unfortunately when you try to tell people the truth you may be accused of being mean or unloving. People don’t like to hear the truth. When we are rejected and hated and people misunderstand us we must always remember that they rejected, hated and misunderstood our Lord Jesus. If we are His we share in the same suffering. I only watched one episode of the chosen and didn’t bother anymore- I can’t stomach productions that aren’t what the Bible says, or mix it around or add to the Bible to fluff out the story line but I’m so glad I clicked on this and just scrolled down the comments and found yours!. Sending much love and many blessings to you! ((Warm hugs)) I hope and pray the Lord continues to guide you and gives you all spiritual wisdom and discernment. Because the Bible tells us: "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it." Catholics also believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, and so we believe, like the Bible teaches us in 1 Tim 3:15, that the Church is the pillar and foundation (or bullwark) of truth. I absolutely love your portrayal of Jesus. I grew up Roman Catholic and now consider myself a born again non denominational Jesus follower. I have been to several Catholic services since my born again salvation experience as an adult. In those Roman Catholic services I have attended since my conversion, I have felt a sense that the Spirit of God must be grieved when people are praying to Saints (like Mary) and not directly to the Father in Jesus’ Name. I have been so blessed with three children. It would hurt my feelings if one of my children went to another of my children and said, “hey, can you ask Dad about this for me?” I would think, I love all my children equally, why doesn’t this child just come to me directly? Not sure if that makes sense, but personally I have struggled with being in a worship service where in my heart I am feeling like God’s “feelings” are being hurt. I wonder if there is a Catholic here reading this who can respond to this in love. I am not a hater. I hope you are not one. Perhaps you as a Catholic can ask God about this. I am curious to hear what you feel He says back to you on this topic. God bless.

I grew up in the Greek Orthodox Church and was born again 5 years ago. I knew OF Christ, but didn't KNOW Christ. Reading the Bible brings clarity and discernment - it helps us understand God's will because it is God speaking to us through his Word. It is Truth. I feel the same way you do, and cannot pray to the saints, for I have a direct line to God Himself now and He hears us. We now have a "relationship" with the Father, whereas I feel the Orthodox church was more about "religion" and "tradition". I never realized I could have such a personal relationship with Him, but now that I do, it is incredible. I still attend services at the Orthodox Church from time to time, for it is rich in worship to the Lord and I enjoy that, but I prefer attending Baptist or non-denominational churches that preach the Word. Christ must be at the center, and we need to grow in Christ. While I appreciate what the previous saints have done out of love to the Lord, it is now our turn to die to self and live for Him. Read your Bible daily and just keep praying to the Lord for guidance and clarity through His Spirit, who now lives in us! He will bring clarity, which is what you are now experiencing!

Hello Chris. While not an expert in the Catholic Faith, I had a similar experience when I left the Catholicism of feeling like I had been born again, but have since returned to the Catholic Church. I think you can develop a deeper faith in Christ whether inside or outside the Catholic Church, and being Born Again can refer to that, although technically the Catholic Church sees that term as being more associated with Baptism (different discussion). On the issue of asking the Saints such as Mary to intercede for you, it can be thought of as similar to asking a friend to prayer for you. The “prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective..(paraphrase)”, and those who lived a Holy Life such as Mary “..full of grace...Blessed.. among women..” would certainly qualify to pray to God on your behalf, regardless of whether they are on earth or in Heaven, so I don’t think God’s feelings would be hurt. One thing you might consider doing is to listen to “Catholic Answers Live” radio program (or podcast), as they can explain it much better than me. Since I have returned to Catholicism my faith and love of the Mass has deepened in ways that I never imagined. You never know where God may lead you. He will never leave you nor abandon you, especially in the Catholic Church. Blessings.

Hi! Fellow Charismatic Catholic here. Brought up with weekly prayer meetings, healing masses, speaking in tongues, hearing interpretation of those tongues--nothing like feeling you're in the same room the apostles were in at Pentecost for an hour or two. While I know that Christ's presence is just as powerful in Adoration as it is in a Spirit-filled worship service, those moments that allow our spirits' fire to run wild are few and far between in traditional mass. It's so wonderful to find those moments...and even better if you can find a priest and other lay people to share that with!

I was born and raised atheist/secular. Recently I've heard the call of God. My mother and girlfriend are both protestant, so naturally I tried that because I'm new to faith. After learning that there are over 30,000 different denominations, I started to give up. I have given up on God over and over again, because it's hard for me to accept it due to how I was raised. But everytime before I give up, I get drawn into catholicism. So drawn in that it changes my way of thinking, feeling, and experiencing the world around me. But I usually gave that up too, because of what others will say (misunderstand) about the catholics. But now I really truly believe this is the path God is directing me towards. I still wrestle with God sometimes, but I think for the most part he has won this fight. But in a way, loving God is a win win situation. Now I'm clean from addiction, I'm focusing on living a more christ like life, and best of all I can finally feel the presence of God.

most protestants reject Catholicism because they cannot accept obedience and trust in the Church's authority established by Jesus Himself. Rejecting Catholicism and her teachings is rejecting God's authority. Mostly out of pride, they prefer to side with Judas than to submit to Peter's authority. You might disagree or dislike a Pope, Bishop or Priest...or a particular Catholic dogma...but the authority of such individual or dogma does not come from men but from the Holy Spirit. Even an evil, twisted pope, as some that have existed through History, was appointed under the authority of the Church. The misdeeds and errors of such bad pope (or bishop or priest) are God's will, and as the Church history has proven over and over, great Godly things have actually come from such evil events.

However, I still hold a special place in my heart for Catholics - especially the Born Again believers! It's a story of hope and blessings to everyone who is mourning about the loss of a loved one, especially for parents who have lost their own children. I came to testify that ETERNITY is a fact, that our loved ones live on on the other side, that they want for us to be comforted and completely consoled by the truth, because the truth will set you free.

“before Abraham was born, *_I AM_* ”

N if he isn’t God then why didn’t he correct Thomas when he said “my Lord and *_my God_* ”

Who is Jesus repeatedly referring to as “my God”?
      Rev 3
12 He who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God; never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.
Who is Peter and Paul referring to as “the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”?
      Rom 15
6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
      2 Cor 1
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
      2 Cor 11
31 The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed for ever, knows that I do not lie.
      Eph 1
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
      1 Pet 1
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

No Jesus didn’t use Exodus 3 in John 8
Jesus said before Abraham was born “ego eimi” which means I am he
Multiple people say ego eimi in the New Testament, but you’re not saying they are God?
The blind man who was healed said it
      John 9
9 Some said, “It is he”; others said, “No, but he is like him.” He said, “I am the man.”
I am the man= ego eimi
The blind man just said ego eimi, did he just refer to Exodus and claim to be God?? Of course not
I believe in the Greek translation of Exodus it says
      “Ego eimi HO ON”
Tell them “HO ON” has sent you (I Am has sent you)
Had Jesus said HO ON you may have a point, but he didn’t

Your work on The Chosen is nothing less than marvelous. Being a person of Catholic ascendency myself I can relate to the experience of knowing that passion for Christ that is described. Having fallen and succumbed to sin, and becoming a loathsome creature I now, too, can relate to the beauty and wonder of the forgiveness Christ has given even to a wretched creature like myself. Seeing how Jesus is as a man, as one of us, helps me to personalize my walk with our Saviour Jesus as one of those he rose back to life in God’s will… …at least as much as can be done with one such as myself. I love the energy “The Chosen” has put into my faith and how it brings Jesus to life for me. It helps me to “see” what and know why I pray. Thanks for a lot of truly great work.

I used to be a Catholic for 30 years. I just got saved. Once I read the Bible I can say I’m a Christian now. The Bible says not to worship any other idols, or Gods. When I was a Catholic my whole family and I worshipped Virgin Mary, and prayed for other saints. Do you? I just started my journey. I’ve spoken to pastors about this. I’m reading the Bible and it’s clear. Yet, I’m confused about the Catholic religion. I don’t want to sound judgmental or disrespect anyone. But you sound like the perfect person to ask. :) thanks God bless you.

@@nancycali4644 Catholics aren't supposed to pray to/worship Mary, or any of the saints, we only ask for them to pray for us, just as people ask close ones to pray for them.. it works and honestly sometimes seeing people writing hate comments about Catholics just makes me sad. We all believe in the one true Father.

I am 72 and was blessed by God to be born in a Catholic family. I was always reverential to God. As Scripture states: Proverbs 9:10 10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” God calls whom he will and nourishes his believers. We bloom where we are planted. I was also almost a vowed lay Carmelite after much study. God had a different path for me...a long story; however, I became an Independent Baptist and was baptized in 2014 as an adult believer in Jesus. I cannot judge anyone’s faith walk, not even my own. All I know is I was once one way and since I met him and continue to meet Him daily in prayer, I am another. See you in heaven, sister! Praise God.

@@gingersnap5245 may God bless you my brother. I’m not judging u. I’m worried for u. When I was a Catholic I did pray for other saints and the Virgin Mary. I refuse to do that. Again, Jesus makes it so clear for us. To get to the Father is through only Jesus Christ.
What makes you a Catholic? I don’t like religion. To be honest I dislike saying I’m a Christian. I’m a believer of the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. I’m not here to be rude. I just want to learn. God bless you!

@@nikitaaj makes me sad too because when I was a Catholic I didn’t know the word. Most Catholics don’t know the Bible. That’s why my eyes are open my sister. Please read the word. Ask God to open ur eyes. If u have pictures and candles and other saints in your home and pray to them. yes u are worshipping other Gods and not Jesus. God said he is a jealous God. Jesus said the only way to the father is him. Jesus.
Therefore we don’t need to pray to the Virgin Mary we we love her and respect her. Don’t worship nor other saints. All we need is a real prayer life with Jesus. For God to hear our prayers. I can truly say God has been answering my prayers more now than ever! He saved my marriage! My story is too long but I say this because I feel so strong about this. I don’t like religion! I believe in the Father the son and the Holy Spirit! I pray God will open your eyes. Amen
