Captain Mike - Great video! I appreciate that all of your videos don't just show you catching fish but are geared to really teaching us how to do it. Hi Mike, Just saw your wahoo video today. I’ve fished for wahoo for years off of Baja Mexico. Your early bite is true when fishing inshore in the Cabo San Lucas area. But away from the resort areas fishing offshore like Alijos Rocks, the Ridge and Offshore island it’s an all day bite. Over the past 40 years of chasing wahoo I’ve found that during dark of the moon the hoos will move into popular fishing grounds. Have you found the same in your area?
Capt. Thanks for making a lot of mistakes and research. Besides 2 feet or less. What about time of year? Any time of year versus only targeting during migration periods. Have you found the wahoo are available more than we know?
Captain Mike ! Wait till you get your hands on one of SaltaAmericas Magrunners. Saw it at ICAST a couple days ago. Pair that with their tail killer… man it’s going to be a zebra machine !
Capt Mike! Thanks for the seminar. Would you mind giving the distance in yds of each line from the boat. Really appreciate it! Still trying to get the first one in the boat. Hi, just rewind the seminar video. Have pen and paper ready. In every seminar I have watched from the “Profesor”, I take notes. Trust me: you may want to use a notebook!
@@cubangenerationwhybyjorgeg2501 He doesn't state distances, just starts at the shotgun, at 1/2 a spool, and then moves in in 100' increments. personally for a bet the reason is he is measuring off of the white water, which is different on all boats. So start your bait there and then add a 100 for each rod. Its what I did, but that doesn't mean its right. He has sold me on a bunch of DTX's though and they do work like champs.
Mike This was a great. Please explain why you use braid as a mainline for wahoo but for kings most people I have watched use mono for kings that can get quite large too. I thought mono acts like a shock absorber for the kings. Wahoo strike hard at very fast speeds so why is it not necessary to use mono mainline as a shock absorber? Does the 150 mono do that? What function do the line components serve? Can you please compare the two rigs between kings and wahoo? Is it still possible to catch wahoo when fishing for kings with 30 pound mono main lines and 60 pound leader? Thanks in advance for your help. This seminar explained in more detail what your rod setup video showed. A big help.
Thanks for the infos, tips. Can you explain how you mark your line at 100ft? You mentioned red mark? As you mentioned, Charters out there Hillsboro inlet, will cut off lines on small boats!! Crazy. Captain license should be suspended. Sea is big enough.

Mike those dtx are awesome. They swim great and entice hits, but the hooks are not very good. There is no barb and the hook comes out so easily as im sure you know. Also the hook up ratio isnt the greatest because the hook is only directly under the bait (inline). Please try to change the hooks on your dtx220 to a dual (twin hook) 9/0 vmc hooks, front and back. Im sure you know the hook i mean, its essentially two hooks in one with a gap between them. You will have a hook on either side of the bait and they wont bother the swimming action of that 220. Also the barb on the hook is much bigger and they stay glued once hooked. Give it a try, if you dont like it you can always put those barbless nomads back on.
I pretty much did everything in this video but the two times I went out 2 of the 3 Nomad DTXs kept randomly coming out of the water. Granted it was rough out, 2-3' with 4 second periods. Have you had the same experience with them not tracking so well in rougher seas?
