Awesome, thanks for posting !
Very nice information and communication for fisherman. I do 50-75 % of what you do already !! Fish on !! Lines tight !!!
Best I've ever seen. Very entertaining and informative
Thank you!
Great video. Like to see that loop know for tag up close. The big man was in the way
He should have sat down, dummy.
Awesome video !
Excellent!
Great information, love the part about the guy that makes a good sandwich, so true and too funny.
Awesome video.. Badazz
Thanks for posting the seminar.
You're welcome!
Outstanding.
Thanks!
More of a tuna guy up here in Jersey, but this was a really good seminar. This guys a good speaker, good job
Thanks! Tuna fishing up North looks like a lot of fun. We're looking forward to trying it one day!
Here is a link to a video we made showing an underwater view of high speed trolling. If you want to understand how your lures look and troll check out this video!

Great Video , worked the Miami boat show years ago and Steve and I clowned around the whole show , till Don showed up ! Great to see him doing his thing 🤡
Nice i learn more about fishing.
Thanks! I've learned a lot from Steve over the years too!
Great seminar Capt! That sure cleared a bunch up for me. Question... Looking for a setup for Wahoo but also want it to double as a big yellowfin rig trolling ballyhoo occasionally. I'm looking to re-spool with 1000 yards of 16 strand 130 hollow core. Out of that core, do I then have to transition to 130 lb mono and then go to a larger 250 or 300+ shock leader? I'm getting confused on how to transition from line to line if you can do a quick progression layout such as, "130 hollow, secure 130 mono, xxxxx connection/knot to swivel, xxxxx connection/crimp to 300 mono, chafe sleeve etc? Hope I haven't already confused the issue. Thanks again for that video seminar!
Thanks!
Your welcome! I hope it was helpful!
Great Video Stevo!! Looks like a Zafuta head high speed! :) This guy has caught many a Wahoo!
During the summer we will be hosting live videos on Thursday nights on our UA-cam page at 7:45 EST to discuss fishing reports and what's biting in your area as well as tips and tricks to help you for the upcoming weekend of fishing.
Best wahoo
I really like the Penn Squall 30vsw or 50vsw. I use the 30's (8) in my spread and have 2 50's too. Great reels on a budget! Great video thank you!
Are you pulling high speed artificial lures with those reels or ballyhoo at a slower speed?
@@ReelHazardous Is there something wrong with these reels.
@@alligator801 Hey i flo! I haven't used those reels before but looking at their specifications they look like they would work. Penn in general makes good reels. I've used the Shimano equivalent, the TLD 50 and those do well so I would think the Penn model would work similarly. If you think you will be high speeding I would go with the 50s though.
I have what they call " Dirty 30's " Penn international II 30SW with 500 yards of 80 .lb hollow core braid and a Top Shot of 200 yards of 80 .lb Momoi diamond. That's 700 yards on a 30 wide 🤧🤐😎🤠🤜🤛... I have another reel with 500 yards of 60 .lb braid topped with 275 yards of 60 .lb mono. These are my short riggers. 50 wides take the rest of the spread
I used to fish with squalls and TLDs. All 50s.
They worked. However their drag systems after a major pull from a wahoo would become very ‘sticky’ and not be very smooth which can be risky. But they def worked!
Any chance he will be coming back for another seminar soon?
Capt Steve is one cool cat!! He introduced stinky cuda and my tiagra 130
If you don't want to lose your terminal tackle, do not get multiple hook-ups. Mark the spot and circle back to it again.
Want to know the very best technique, lure, speed, reel, line, etc for catching wahoo? The one that puts the fish in the boat. My buddy and I caught a 30 pounder on a $25 handline tied to a cleat trolling in a sailboat at 3kts. Go figure!
Set lines out on way out and in. Caught PB 64" in 6 fathoms and it had no reason for being there. This was on the way into port while on Bermuda
i was there
@48:00 did he just call tuna a trash fish?!?! LOL
What is the name of lures?
What kind of boat do you have Steve with a single engine????
Does anyone know who produces Diamond Generation 3 Hollow Core braid? Momoi says it is nothing to do with them! I'd really like to know...
So I'm trying to find the spot in the video where Steve talked about his ideal line setup. I seem to remember him saying 130 lb hollow core braid connected to 100 lb mono and I want to say that it is basically a 150 foot (or maybe it was 150 yards?) of the 100 lb leader. I'm really new to this hollow core braid stuff and big game setup in general so here is my question in 2 parts:
Question 1: I am trying to figure out the NEEDED leader lengths with this type of setup. If I am using a "wind-on" leader so that I can quickly and easily change out pre-setup lures how long do I need those to be? I am currently setting up all of my wind-on leaders to be 40' of 100 lb mono with 10' of that being shoved up inside of the 130 lb hollow core braid. On the end of the Braid portion of the wind on leader I have the braid loop built into them so that my main line can also have a built-in braid loop...and then connect the 2 lines with a simple cats paw connection.
Question 2: If I am using this Cats paw connection...does that basically delete the need to use a swivel or should I be incorporating a swivel into this situation at some point to keep my line from getting totally jacked up back on the reel after trolling?

@@AnotherDayattheDock thank you!
Captin
Thank you for the video
I have some important questions :-
Why don't you use electric reels?
Did you try using the diving board (yosori)?
If I do get my lure so deep ( 150 feet + -) am I going to get fish at that depth ?
Electric reels......what kind of fishing is that?
Is it possible to not Hand line ?
Does he use braid for his inline planer rods?
Hi Robert, Steve uses the same braided high speed rods for the planar with ballyhoo.
Thank you for post so much great idea! I didn’t catch it anywhere in the video but what lb fluorocarbon are you using? I was impressed to see that it’s hold up to the wahoo teeth.
Thanks Mike! I think Steve was using 200 or 300. I've used 300 and 400 lb mono before with success too. Keep in mind though, flouro or mono won't keep a wahoo from biting through it directly. It will just withstand any minor cuts or abrasions. Normally trolling fast enough, wahoo will hit the lure from the back where there is cable. That's how we get away with flouro and mono sometimes.
@@ReelHazardous thank you for the reply. I was curious because I usually troll for dolphin but I’ve had wahoo (or so we think) hit the lures before and cut me off. I used to do wire but you lose a lot of bits so many I’ll start doing enough cable to reach the top of the lure and run fluoro from that point on
Just subbed! Really like the content, Wahoo are on the hit list this year. I just started my own hunting and fishing channel, so maybe I can get some really cool wahoo action on it! Really appreciate your effort! God Bless!
Thanks we appreciate it! Is that the 350 suzuki on your boat? If so how do you like it?
@@ReelHazardous yes it's s awesome motor. My cruise #s are around 2.8 -3 mpg at 36-40 mph. Top end is 54. That's with 200 gal of fuel. That's a old 254 mako . The duo propped 350 is a game changer it has a lot of bite.
Great stuff. One improvement: can you repeat the questions for the youtube audience? We can't hear them on the recording.
Anyone have a link for the Ross Reports?
Roff
Great video, I would like to see a fishing video on how to use planners , also how do you make a double hook rig ballyhoo
Great idea! We'll work on it
Yes it would be great to see that double hook set up,I can't imagine how it was done and so neatly also.
We need a video please
I have a friend that catches wahoo at 5-7kts with yozuri crystal minnows
That’s great!
So what.
Pimping the resources.
Great video. Just wish when he was showing how to tie the part near the end you would have moved the camera. The spectator with the yellow hat blocked us seeing what he was doing. Can't believe you didn't move to let us see that.
Are you talking about tying the tag lines? If so I have a separate video on that if you want to see how it’s done.
Steve grant is a cool cat!!! Miss him at c@h
Enjoyed the video. Do you have a link for his lures?
Right now the lures are not sold online. If you're in Jacksonville though you can get them at Strike Zone.
Reel Hazardous have they made the lures available on line yet?
At 45:50 while i was contemplating whether the small ballyhoo we have here might work, he activated the drag alarm and my eyes widened and i was about to turn around and remembered i was in my house not on the boat. (FTSD) fishing traumatic stress disorder🤣
I know that gets me too! lol
@@ReelHazardous nice to have it as an alarm clock hehe! Waking up in cold sweat screaming "FISH ONNN!!!" lol
Something like this? lol

Great seminar excellent presenter THANKS
As for hooks
Owner JOBU hooks these are awesome on wahoo sharp super strong and hook up ratio is exceptional
mustad seem to be imprinted in the head of lots of folk in the US they are not what they used to be the are blunt and nasty
Appalled by the quality of the new mustad hooks
Just curious Do you get a better mustad hook in the US? The boxes I got in Australia were horrible - sent them back except the forged 14/0 which are ok
The old Norwegian made mustad sea demon hooks were awesome / outstanding the new Chinese made ones under 14/0 suck
When he says lb test, he’s talking about the test and not the diameter of braid correct? Seems simple but just checking.
Correct, the breaking strength not the diameter.
I’ve just got one more thing to say okay
Good info. Next time zoom out the camera.
Thanks for the feedback!
Anyone have any idea how to purchase these lures from Diamond? I can't find any source that is carrying the Molokai or Drunken Hoo lures.
Strike Zone in Jacksonville carries them.
Reel Hazardous Thanks, they must not show them on their website.
Good seminar, but the camera man sucks
Iam 61 and i caught countless Wahoo every week from flat line to Trolling normal speed to bottom fishing for many years on a next to nothing $$ budget. We were never even trying to catch Wahoo most off the time mostly trolling for Dolphin we caught every Pelagic. Sorry to me it seems ridicules to spend that kind of $$ on trying to catch a Wahoo. Rich folk using $$$ to catch fish🤣🤣🤣🤣
anyone else having audio problems?
Maybe your that one guy'🙉
How to catch wahoo: money
Would be best if you were more Confident in your presentation. Stop using your hands so much, there drawing attention away from what your point is. And stop looking at one spot, right. 🙄
