When the father initially put his foot down and told his daughter this was an anniversary trip for just her parents, she should have shut it, backed off and even apologized for presuming she could weasel her way in. Daughter is the a-hole, and the wife/mother borders on being an a-hole by conceding when she knew better.

I would never DREAM of infringing upon someone’s anniversary trip. I don’t even infringe upon an anniversary day. We’re scheduled to have a game night with friends on their anniversary, and I was happy to reschedule so that they can have the weekend to themselves. The nerve of that lady to weasel her way into her parents anniversary vacation…

I’m so sorry you have to deal with low life people like that. What type of person even does that? What kind of vial disgusting individual finds someone’s number, continually harasses them and then makes physical threats? It’s unbelievable and so disheartening to hear that you have to deal with this. I love your channel and thank you for sharing your life with us 😊💜.

When we invite my mom to travel with us, it's to take her ON VACATION. Her own room. If the kids want to bunk one or two nights with her, they have to ask her. Jane is a huge ah and a brat. Also, phew! Fear makes us panic and act out of sorts!

Suggestion ... consider hiring a 'security' person to cover your meet up sessions. Perhaps you can find a person at each location, once you get the route established, with stops reserved and confirmed. Don't be scared, be prepared (a la Ryan Hall, Y'all) - be safe!

Jane is an A-h for being immature, presumptuous and spoiled. The mom is an A-h for not having enough fortitude to shut down her daughter’s overstep. The dad is an A-h for his secretive flip-flopping. SIL is an A-h for yelling at his generous in-laws on the phone. Shane’s right EVERYONE is the A!!! Sorry, Grandkids. You’re walking in the footsteps of 2 generations of A-hs.

Preach it, sister! It sounds to me like mom and dad were wishy-washy like this when they raised Jane, letting her get her way far too often, and now Jane assumes she can get away with it. Such unmitigated gall she has! And I agree that dad handled it poorly, almost passive-aggressively (which may be another trait that runs in this family). I don;t have any grandchildren, but I have two grown daughters, and neither of them would ever DREAM of imposing upon my wife and me like this.

Good luck on your Book Tour - may you have much success with your sales and your trip! The troll story and library meet-up...so sorry for the angst you had to endure. Amazing what you go through when being famous! Finally, It is so hard to know the all-round dynamics of such an extended incident that was described in the final segment of your podcast here. One wishes everyone could do the right thing each moment...perhaps the best lesson is to remember the story and try and catch ourselves to do the right thing in the moment. Thanks as always for your sharing your lives. Your humor and good nature is always uplifting.

Hi Hanna and Shane from North Dakota. I have been watching and 100% enjoying you videos for at least a couple of years - this is the first time leaving a comment. We have/had 2 young women with disabilities and find it so refreshing to hear the honesty of life with challenges and those that care and love unconditionally. When you do your book tour and should you decide to come to North Dakota, we would be front and center. Am sure you've already thought of this but will throw it out anyway. If you'd check with the support agencies in each state you visit - would get lots of people tha 25:26 t are dealing with the same issues as you - to come and be part of the event.

So I went to your UA-cam page..
And over the past month, (Todaay actually)
I just finished watching what I think is about 700 videos. 😂
I started on the very first video you both posted and every night before bed, I’d go to your page and scroll down to where I last left off.
I’d watch about 5-10 videos (maybe even more on some nights cause I was just so hooked or couldn’t sleep)..
and then during the day while I was at the gym I would listen your podcasts.
And I can’t believe today I’ve finally come to the very end!
    Kinda happy.kinda sad. Moment.
Don’t know if you will ever see this, but I just want to say thanks for being apart of my nights, and my workouts for the past month! You both are amazing, funny. You’re both just my kinda people.
and I love your story and what you
    allowed us fans to see!
I’ve Learned so much from you, and I am more aware of accessibility and ableism now. I probably never thought twice about it and now when I got out to places I am more conscious of.
It’s funny how just a little over a month ago,

You two are my favorite comedy act. I adore your banter so much. How harrowing yet ending funny was that story!!
NTA: We ALL know this daughter, either from our family or someone else's. She's the one who is always angling for herself. She's taken advantage of nice parents MANY times before, no question about that. They know her. Dad also knows Mom and had he told Mom, she would have felt bad and told daughter and there would have been a huge fight and the vacay would have been ruined. He gave his wife his intended gift of a great vacay with the two of them. In this case, with this daughter, it's better to ask forgiveness than permission because no permission would have been given and they would have been stuck on vacay with their grandkids while daughter and her hubby were off having the great time Mom and Dad SHOULD have been having. So no, NTA and it's high time this daughter had to deal with the No. She was told NO in the beginning and hassled Mom til she relented. Now she'll just have to get over it as it's already done, they had the fun vacay they originally planned, (and daughter actually GOT a vacay too) and should not care at all that daughter is mad. It's her own fault for not caring one wit that Mom and Dad deserved a romantic 40 year anniversary trip by themselves and not being grateful she actually still got a vacay too. I'm sure she'll find plenty of other things to horn in on and get free things as she always does. That's my take. NTA. The daughter is TAH.

The guy is definitely NOT the A-hole! A person shouldn’t put their expectations on another person, and be rude a forward enough to invite themselves with the expectation of her parents babysitting while on their 40th wedding anniversary trip! In a heartbeat I would have done the same thing by changing the plans. Sadly so the daughter sounds very self entitled and selfish, plus childish for not speaking to her parents after the trip. She shouldn’t have gone on the paid for trip if she felt so strongly about the outcome!
On another note, thank you both for sharing your lives with us, I absolutely enjoy watching you two🥰

omfg the episode this time was hilarious! I'm sorry that it was such a stressful time for you, dealing with a deranged stalker like that but I'm glad it's a funny story now haha I definitely relate to being an awkward potato when meeting up with people for the first time 😂

Jane and her husband who wanted to tag along for a free vacation and to use the grandparents as babysitters knowing it was their 40th Anniversary, were the A-h. The father just wanted this Anniversary to be special . The mom of course broke down because she always gives to others and wants to make sure everyone is happy. So, the father decided to give the kids what he thought they wanted, which was a free vacation, but also do something special for his wife. This trip was about the two of them, not a family vacation and for Jane and her husband to take that away and think the vacation was going to be all about them and use the parents for babysitting service on their 40th was so very selfish ...

If you look at it that way he probably was trying his best, but he still should have told them plans had changed in advance.

I genuinely loved the idea of an opener! If you come to Maine please definitely go to Portland! Population wise it's your best bet and better than assuming you'll pick up the mainers in Boston because we won't travel in that traffic... It has nothing to do with how much time it takes in more to do with how dangerous the traffic is! I know you'll probably end up doing something in Boston but you might want to take transportation either public or otherwise to get there because it still gives me nightmares. ( I've driven in New York and that's definitely worse but I'd say it's the next best worst lol )

I can’t judge theme because I had a similar incident after my first grandchild was born. She was born in Minnesota in October and they had 36 inches of snow still on the ground at Thanksgiving. My husband is from Michigan and we were going to drive up over the 4 day holiday, he was used to snow. My parents wanted to see their first great granddaughter. THEY decided they would rent a motor home since my Mom had health issues. I really didn’t want to change our plans and they didn’t let us know they had already rented the RV. We went and were there for Thanksgiving dinner with my daughter-in-laws step mom and our son and new baby. The weather news peas on and lots more snow was predicted for the day we were to start home. I was furious when we had to leave the next morning! I went for my little granddaughter and I had not had enough time with her! I pouted in the rear of the RV all the way home
Looking back I realize I was the a___ hole. My Mom saw her first grgreat grandchild 3 months before she died. Seeing her was the highlight of my Moms last few weeks. There is always two sides of each story.
Keep on mak😊ing everyone laugh. I wish I could be at a book signing but I live so far in the country in Texas that you would have to come to Waco, TX for me to see you.❤️

    • @jenromano19
      @jenromano19 8 місяців тому

@@outoftheklossetThere was a lot more snow forecast, and I'm assuming they couldn't drive the RV in the snow, so they had to leave sooner than planned. Still, maybe Grandma could've stayed and flown back later?

Lots of snow was predicted again so we didn’t want to be stranded. It took away my visiting time. Selfish, yes. My Mom had health issues and couldn’t have flown. Had to forgive my parents but I needed their forgiveness for pouting all the way back home.

I have a similar story to share. I had someone in my family invite me to a vacation they claimed they'd pay everything for. I said yes because I don't travel much and get tired easily. The other person who was always harassing me/abusing me ended up paying for it, and of course they used it against me (I had to video the whole incident and they were nearly thrown in jail). What's funny is I was barely interested in going there because it's religious and kind of dangerous. Recently I found out the area near it was bombed around the trip date, so I'm glad the whole thing was cancelled (I had a bad feeling about going there months previously). Moral of the story: don't treat people with disabilities like crap, or invite them to dangerous religious locations like we're stupid.

Yes they lost their babysitters and they knew it was their 40th anniversary and the kids and their kids should have been happy to go but know that they would need to let there be some space for the love birds to celebrate and not just be the care for them. I really think that good for Grandmas husband :)
And the daughter kinda forced herself in so to many people take to many people for granted. Loved this. hugs
