I am a disabled driver who doesn’t usually have anyone with me. Thank you for acknowledging that people like me exist. Parking is one of the most frustrating things I experience as an independent wheelchair user, to the point that it has made me consider not driving anymore. I’m so excited that your parking story made such a difference in the city. And I’m so happy to know that Shane is having an easier time eating now. Also, Shane’s hair looks amazing. Love your videos!

It is so terrible that basic infrastructure like parking, ramps, doors, curb cuts, restrooms and more are still limiting accessibility! Even the door to my primary care physician's office could not be accessible unassisted!

I don't often comment, but kudos to the viewer who emailed the city councilor. What happened to you (Shane and Hannah) was ridiculous. The photo of Shane next to his deployed ramp and the explanation given really should have been enough. I'm glad an even bigger accomplishment came of it because it will benefit lots of people who need those spaces.

I am from Turkiye and SMA treatment are constricted by very strict rules. Hence in order to receive the treatment in the USA, families starting campaigns for millions of dollars where they have to collect the money in a very short time. I never knew what SMA was until a relative of mine diagnosed with it. And I thought that I was always an 'aware' person on health issues, disabilities, diversity etc. But oh my god I learned so much from you guys. I did not know how ignorant I was on some topics. You brought so much awareness and joy to my life at the same time. Shane's sense of humor cracks me up every time. So I just want to thank you, please keep up what you are doing. Especially someone from somewhere completely else with different process on this treatment, even your presence means a lot.

If it's any consolation, I had lots of gray hairs in my teens and expected to become prematurely gray by my 40's, which was fine, but I'm past 70 now and though I have quite a few more, my hair is still predominantly brown, just much thinner. Genetic "male pattern baldness" affects plenty of females too!

For instance, my daughter was unable to use a handicapped space to lower her ramp because someone selfishly parked on top of the yellow lines next to the space that was intended for ramp usage.

Way to go! Shane and Hannah, fixing our world. We all need to be more proactive. As a former caregiver, I have encountered a lot of things that I never would have noticed before. I was dying laughing as you were describing cutting Shane's hair! So relatable! Neither My husband or I have been to a salon or barber shop in about 15 years. We cut each others hair and I still make those noises when cutting his top head as I create a new hairline and watch a long strand fall to the ground lol!

Thanks so much for sharing your frustration over the comments from the other video! I admit that I had the same thoughts of ‘why not let him out and then turn car around’ so I am happy you addressed those. You are totally right you shouldn’t *have* to do that - accessibility should be built-in to the point those who need accessible access aren’t treated differently. I’m sorry that I doubted that you had considered the possibility and had a good reason for not doing so, please forgive me.
As someone who is partially both physically and mentally disabled, I myself enjoy many accessible features that are present for others who need them more. I have been trying to be an advocate for disability in my workplace and with applications that we use (I work remotely in IT), and I love learning more from your videos. Thanks so much for keeping them up and for putting up with those of us who do not understand. 🙏

I'm glad the city acknowledged this as a problem. They could either make more handicapped parking or allow rear faced parking. They wouldn't make more handicapped parking bc that reduces the capacity of each lot and in a place where there's already limited parking the logical thing and most cost efficient to the city is simply take the signs down. Wow! I'm so impressed by you guys and all the changes y'all make in this world. With the platform you guys share it's amazing the amount of people you reach and help each video. Don't ever let anyone tell you it's just youtube. I know the comments can be rude or worse but remember it's probably a 12 year old boy or someone who is miserable and only feels good behind the keyboard being mean and finding something to be offended by🙄 I love your videos and love you guys! As always great job using your voices in a respectful way!! ✌❤🙏

Shane's hair looks great. Hannah, you did a wonderful job. Shane really does look much stronger from the first videos. It is so awesome that the parking situation has been changed in West Hollywood. Glad your ticket was waived as well.

I remember growing up as kids my mother was in a wheel chair most of her life Back in the 80’s. There was no where in town for handicapped people to park. We would have to park a block away and push mom up to the entrance And as I have seen signs today that shows where to park for handicapped people is really great to know that someone like you , Took time to make a big deal out why the city’s do not have more parking spots up close to the entrance. Think you both for the out reach of bringing the public Awareness

I was one of the ignoramuses who wondered why you couldn’t just turn the car around, picturing a huge, wide open, echo-y, cavernous, deserted parking garage with no other cars or people around. Believe it or not, I have a reasonably high IQ. So thank you for explaining and giving a little grace to people who, having our own unique set of concerns, find that some things just never occur to us. Your channel has been a real eye opener in that regard. Clearly I’m not quite “there” yet.

Awesome! I am glad those West Hollywood parking officials were informed and made a positive change. I do think it was an oversight that they didn't think about assessible ramps being on either side of a vehicle. Thank you for being articulate in your video and thank you to the person who was be able to give it to someone who knew the appropriate person to pass it along to in order to get it rectified.

Well, I totally understand how difficult it's to go through parking garages not being disabled unlike having a Diasbility. I also know being on Social media you are going to get other views and they are not going to be nice. People are entitled to their opinions even though it may not be great to hear so I can only speak for myself. I respect you guys bringing it up and standing up for what you believe in. I am like that. I'm glad something came of it.... you GO YOU TWO!!!!!

We were walking into a home improvement store, and my son commented that a van was parked crooked. I looked and realized the "accessible parking" sign was on a pole set in a concrete block, and would have blocked the van's back exit if they parked "correctly". They had to back-in in order to exit the van safely but if they went in straight, they couldn't actually load their van because the sign was in the way! Thanks to your video, I totally understand their "bad" park job. It was a teachable moment for my son to not judge others without knowing the whole story, and how people with disabilities have to adapt.

I live in Orange County, Ca- near Disneyland - anyway, it's so hard for me to go to LA because we'd have to find a pri ate lot to park because street parking doesn't work when you have to transfer. I just cried when I heard we can park both ways now. Even small things like this can make a big difference. I really hope this parking will be broadened to include more of LA. Start writing to council members. (I will do my best!). I seriously have tears coming down my face because we need a win. Especially when it comes to something like being able to park safely and enter an establishment without fear of being run over or being in the middle of the road and having to find a curb cut. It's so terrifying. Also, LA traffic makes people mad so anyway, yall are troopers. Thank you so much to the one who wrote the councilwoman and I really hope we can help this catch on. The embarrassing story. Hannah, I've been there before too. Haha

Not an MS patient but a fellow wheelchair warrior. Luckily I can stand and transfer. But since using a WC I was never previously aware of the inaccessibility in some areas. I have compression fractures from breast cancer which metastasized to the bone. Thanks for changing the world one town’s handicapped parking spots at a time.
